London & Provincial Collie Club

London and Provincial Collie Club Open Show: 23rd August 2025

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at their August Open show and for those exhibitors who entered under me, it was much appreciated. I had an enjoyable day. I was being observed by Mr Geoff Duffield as part of the Kennel Clubs Judges Education Programme and am pleased that I passed the assessment and appreciated their time and feedback. I was absolutely delighted that my winners went on to take all the top honours under Best in Show judge Mr Simon Burton.

Baby puppy dog or bitch: Entries 2, Absentees 0
1st: Coldelee Take it to the Limit:
5 month old sable male with shading starting to come through. Lovely overall shape and nice bone throughout, dark eye obliquely set and ears perfectly tipped, neat feet, moved okay. Still very loose in front as expected at this age.

2nd : Coldelee Busy Being Fabulous:
Littermate to the class winner. Sable bitch with nice overall shape and good bone feminine throughout. Pleasing dark eye, ears a little light at present, moved okay. Also little loose in front.

Puppy Dog: Entries 2, Absentees 1
1st : Manordeifi Hijacked by Blamorder
8 month old sable male, rich colour with correct dense undercoat, ear set ok although slightly light at the moment. Good bone throughout, would prefer tighter feet as a little splayed at present, good length tail, moved out well. Best Puppy in Breed.

Puppy Bitch: Entries 2, Absentees 1
1st: Blamorder Starstruck
7 month old sable bitch up to size, wouldn't want her to grow on anymore. Dark eye which was obliquely set, good bone, although perhaps a little on the cobby size for a bitch, feet ok although need to tighten a little, moved okay although has that puppy roll at the moment and but I'm sure will improve with age.

Junior Dog or Bitch: Entries 3, Absentees 0
1st: Blamorder Double or Quits of Oakestelle JW
15 month old blue merle bitch, good overall silvery blue colour, bone okay throughout and feminine eyes dark although slightly on the rounder side, ear set okay. Moved out well and held top line. Won this class on movement.

2nd: Blamorder I dreamed a dream at Wystry
15 month old tri-colour bitch, litter sister to 1st place, a little flared in head compared to class winner and ears a little on the light side. Okay front with well pronounced forechest. Good bone throughout. Neat feet. Moved out well although a little dippy in top line.

Post Graduate dog or bitch: Entries 2, Absentees 1
1st: Blamorder Side Hustle with Mournebrake
15 month old male up to size tri-colour, in good coat and condition, eye a touch on the light side and head slightly flared, ear set ok and used to advantage, jet black coat with lovely dense undercoat. Would like perhaps a little more arch in feet if I was being fussy. Moved out wide but moved okay when settled.

Champion dog or bitch: Entries 3, Absentees 0
1st: CH Brackenhaye Heart and Soul
5 year old tri bitch pleasing head and expression. Lovely ear set and used to her advantage, would prefer a slightly darker eye. Good bone throughout and feet ok although I would prefer if a little bit tighter. Lovely front construction and ample forechest, nice rear angulation, not over done in any way. Moved well with good drive. In profile created a lovely silhouette. Best of Breed

2nd : Ch Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW
4 year old tri male, slightly light in eye and a touch on the feminine side for me. Ok bone and neat feet, moved okay once settled. Tail length okay. Coat of good texture

Limit dog: Entries 1, Absentees 0
1st Coldelee Jupiter Rises with a Blamorder JW
3 year old tricolour male, eye slightly on the round side and stop a little deep. Good underjaw though and good bone throughout, neat compact feet. A little upright in shoulder, moved well Res Best Dog

Limit bitch: Entries 1, Absentees 1

Open dog: Entries 1, Absentees 0
1st Blamorder Magic Maker with Freejack JW
Almost 3 year old sable male, lovely shaded coat with dark eye obliquely, good bone and neat well arched feet, would prefer more forechest although still quite young so that should come, slightly long in second thigh, moved ok. Best Dog

Open Bitch: Entries 4, Absentees 1
1st CH Brackenhaye Heart and Soul (see champion class for critique)

2nd CH Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle
Litter sister to class winner, smaller in type to winner, nice make and overall shape. Stop a little on the deep side. Nice shape eye but would prefer a touch darker to complete the expression. Perfectly tipped ears which were used well. Bone ok and neat feet, moved out well.

Veteran dog a bitch: Entries 3, Absentees 1
1st Koczkodan Serenity VW
9 year old tri bitch slightly light and rounder in eye than I would like. Ear set okay and used is well at times. Harsh black coat with dense undercoat. Good front angulation, with lovely forechest, excellent rear angulation moved out really well. A lovely overall shape. Reserve Best Bitch and Best Veteran in Breed

2nd Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx VW
8 year old blue female with a lovely silver blue colour, feminine head and nice eye shape, ears a touch on the light side, slightly upright in shoulder, rear angulation ok. Would prefer a little more bone throughout. Moved out well, just not the reach and drive of the class winner.
