National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

NWPB Open Show 15th February 2025

JHA & Border Collies

Thank you to the society for the invitation to judge at the show. As always, it was very well run and everyone is welcoming. Thank you to the exhibitors today for entering your dogs, although a lot of absentees, I was happy with my entry and enjoyed my day.

JHA

6-11 years

1st Emily Van de Ven. Handling a Shetland Sheepdog. Very calm, steady handler. Well presented on the table, showing teeth correctly. Ensured she didn't block my view at any time. Moved her dog at a good speed with good lines. Promising young handler.

2nd Paige Hooley. Handling an Alaskan Malamute. Good handling skills developing. Showed patience with her dog. Presented them well for examination, correctly showing teeth. Moved at a good speed for the breed, but crossed between me and the dog at one point in the triangle.

3rd Logan Martin. Handling a Smooth Collie. Very good relationship between him and his young dog. Some promising signs of a good handler, a bit more practice together and these will make a good team. He shows a lot of patience and confidence.

12-16 years

1st Megan Slack. Handling a Portuguese Water Dog. Excellent handler. Aware of her surroundings and my position at all times. Efficient at stacking her dog for examination. Presented teeth correctly. Very nice pace of movement. Accurate lines. Confident and smart handler.
