It was such an honour to be invited as a replacement judge at the whippet club of wales open show and I would like to extend my gratitude to all the exhibitors for bringing their hounds today and for accepting my decisions with good grace. I endeavoured to assess all dogs as closely as possible to the breed standard, and I am pleased to see that all dogs were well presented and behaved in a very pleasant atmosphere. However, I did notice that the rear movement of some dogs was not as it should be, with their back legs being too close together when moving away, and the eye shapes of some dogs spoiled their expressions, which affected their placings. A special thanks to my two stewards, Cheryl and Kim for keeping the ring in good order.

Class 1 MINOR PUPPY BITCH 6 ( 3 )

1st, ( 75 ) Perkins & Van Der Schaaf’s SILKRIDGE MISTLETOE SMOOCH – What a beautiful 7 month old lemon bitch, she has taken all in and performed like a pro. Lovely head with flat skull and correct ear set, She has correct oval eye shape with kind expression, nice long neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest with straight legs. She’s nicely curved both topline and bottom line, Wide and broad thigh with long stifle and well bent hocks, standing square on good arched feet , moved with good reach and drive. Superbly handled. ( BEST PUPPY BITCH ) ( BEST PUPPY IN SHOW )

2nd, ( 21 ) Cockwell’s COBYCO CAPTURE THE MAGIK – 8 months old cream bitch slightly bigger than 1, Well proportioned head with correct ear set, nice strong muzzle with correct bite, she has long neck into well laid shoulders. She has deep chest, good length of body, broad and long stifles. moved out well with good feet.

1st, ( 57 ) Mallinson’s EDENWHIP A MOMENT IN THYME – 11 month old brindle bitch which quite nervous today. She has lovey head with good shape of eyes, nice long neck into good shoulders. Nice long body with just enough curves , broad and long stifles with well bent hocks, she does moves out well with good reach and drive.

Class 3 JUNIOR BITCH 7 ( 2 )

1st, ( 19 ) Cahill & Timberlake’s ARDENCOTE DANCE A DREAM AT CHIPPERLAKE JW – 17 months old cream bitch, lovely head with flat skull, good ear set and correct eye shape showing gentle expressions. Strong muzzles with correct bite, nice long neck into good shoulders, deep chest and straight legs. She has curved top line and good tuck up. strong thigh and well bent hocks, standing on good feet. moved out well come and go.

2nd, ( 6 ) Barnes’s CUSHTIWOOD SHE’LLDO NICELY FOR DODDRIDGE – Another lovely cream bitch of 15 months of age, lovely head with correct eye shape, nice long neck into good shoulders, straight legs with correct bone, I’d prefer her with a bit deeper chest. She’s nicely curved, broad and long stifles with well bent hocks, moved out well.

1st, ( 73 ) Perkin’s & Van Der Schaaf’s CH CRÈME ANGLAISE’S ENTOURAGE WITH SILKRIDGE – What a stunning bridle bitch of 16 months of age, She has such elegant and muscular outline, pretty head with flat scull, lovely shape of eyes with kind and alert expression, correct ear set, good proportions of skull and muzzles and correct bite, elegant arched neck into well turned the strong shoulders, straight legs with good bones, deep chest and good curves of top line and tuck up, long and broad stifles with well bent hocks , standing square and moved true with super reach and drive. I just love this bitch , she is a fine example of the breed type and standard. A well worthy champion .

2nd, ( 106 ) Woodward’s TERVANTY MAGIC DRAGON – I like this 13 month old fawn bitch a lot, such a shame she met the winner. She has a lot to like about, lovely head with correct ear set, correct shape of eyes with good expressions, nice clean neck into good shoulders, straight legs supports the deep chest , lovely top line and tuck up, long stifles with well let down hocks, standing on arched feet with well trimmed nails. she moves well come and go and has done even better in the Post Graduate class and I was happy to award her 1st place in the PG Class.

3rd, ( 25 ) Courtney & Wallace’s LOROLI STONED IN LOVE WITH COURTBIRCH -

1st, ( 55 ) Lloyd’s PENWINCOED BETTY BOOP – I have judged this fawn bitch when she was a puppy, She has matured well , nice head with pleasing expression of good eye shape, she has neat ears and long elegant neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest with good top line and bottom line, She has long and strong rear and well let down hocks. Moved free with ease.

2nd, ( 36 ) Gillespie’s PENBRIAR TOUCH A DREAM – 2 year old fawn bitch, she has Correct head with flat skull, correct shape of eyes with kind expression, long and muscular neck into good shoulders deep chest , good length of body with powerful muscular rear end , she has arched feet and well trimmed nails and moved out well come and go .

1st, ( 65 ) Morland’s ZORADEN NAUGHTY AT FORTY – a pretty 12 month old fawn bitch with full of quality, still young and need maturing . she has good proportion of head with correct ear set, lovely eye expression with oval shape. Nice long neck into well laid shoulders, straight legs with correct blazed bones, deep chest with just enough tuck up and curved topline, broad and long stifles with well let down hocks. Lovely arched feet and moved true come and go. Well handled. ( RESERVE BEST BITCH ) ( RESERVE BEST IN SHOW )

2nd, ( 50 ) Leathart’s RINGMORE JOCASTA – 22 months old bitch , she has nice head and alert expression, beautiful eye expressions, balanced through out with lovely curves, Graceful arched neck, Good front and rear construction, powerful rear , moved free and easy come and go, worked well with her handler.

1st, ( 53 ) Lister & Swarbrick’ EDENWHIP IMA BRIGHT STAR- I really liked this beautiful 2 year old fawn bitch and seriously considered her for reserve best bitch. She has such balanced and pleasing outline, good proportions of head with correct eye shape, strong muzzles with correct bite, nice and long neck into well laid well muscled shoulders , straight legs with good bones, deep chest with good length of body, just enough curves of top line and tuck up. well muscled and long stifles with well let down hocks. Beautifully handled.

2nd, ( 13 ) Booker’s LONGMIRE BLUE FOR YOU - Nearly 3 year old brindle bitch with correct head, flat skull and good ear set. good shape of eyes with alert expression , long neck into good front, deep chest with well sprung of rib and plenty of heart room. Gentle arch over the loin, Moved well with good feet.

1st, ( 100 ) Wilkinson’s SILKRIDGE SAFFRON OF FLETCHGATE – I have judged this 4 and half year old brindle bitch , She has feminine head and good shape of eyes with gentle expression, long neck into good shoulders, deep chest with plenty of heart rooms and well spung ribs . Gentle arch over the loin, strong broad rear which was well muscled, good coat condition. Moved well with good feet. I feel she would be beneficial with slower moving round.

2nd, ( 33 ) Finch’s STARCEYLON QUEEN OF DORNE AND ZENOBIA – A beautiful 2 and half year old black bitch , pleasing outline with good shape. Good proportion of head with good ear set, elegant long neck into good shoulders, pleasing curved topline and tuck up, strong and long rear end with well let down hocks, standing on good feet, moved not as good as 1.

1st, ( 44 ) Jones’s JOTHRYN MANHATTAN BLONDE JW – A good sized quality 2 year old brindle bitch, good proportion over all. Lovely head with flat skull and correct ear set. Correct shape of eyes with gentle expression, good bite and strong underjaw. Elegant neck into well laid shoulders. Straight legs with good bone, good top line an bottom line, deep chest with enough heart rooms, long and strong rear end with well let down hocks, standing on good feet with well trimmed nails. I feel she’s a bit tight in the ring today but that didn’t stop me awarding her winning the class. well handled.

2nd, ( 7 ) Barnes’s DODDRIDGE STRICTLY CHA CHA JW - 3 year old brindle bitch, slightly longer and taller than 1, correct head with good shape of eyes, long neck into strong shoulders, Good depth of chest with plenty of heart room, balance and maintains the correct top line and underline , Nicely angled throughout Straight front and tidy feet. moved out well.

Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, Curvy top line and underline. Good strong thighs and long stifles, her coat is fine. She has the elegance and grace of outline . She moves with reach and drive. ( BEST VETERAN BITCH ) ( RESERVE BEST VETERAN IN SHOW )

2nd, ( 61 ) Mcconkey’s BARMOLL BUTTERFLY FLIP – An up to size 7 year old brindle bitch, she has pleasing outline. good head with correct shape of eyes. Lovely long neck into good shoulders, good front, straight legs with good bone, deep chest with good top and bottom line. Long broad stifles and standing on good feet. moved well.

He has a long neck into good shoulders, his chest is deep enough and straight forelegs. He has good ribbing and good length of body, good top line and bottom line, his thigh is long and well turned stifles. standing on good feet. a very promising puppy just need time to mature.

He has a well proportioned head, correct ear set and eye shape, powerful jaws with complete scissor bite, he has an elegant long neck into well laid shoulders, straight front legs and well placed elbows, deep chest with enough heart room, he has well sprung ribs and well muscled back , lovely strong and broad thigh with well bent stifles, well let down hocks standing square naturally with well arched feet, he carries his tail well when stacked and moving, he moves true coming and going and used his back legs well , well handled. 2nd, ( 78 ) Price’s KIERPARK IT’S NOW OR NEVER AMONG SILKDANCE- 7 months old brindle male well up to size for his age and he has correct head with flat skull, good ear set , correct bite and strong underjaw, long neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest , good top line and bottom line, ’d prefer him with shorter length of body, strong broad and long stifles with well let down hocks, he actually carries his top line well when moving. Standing on good feet.

1st, ( 10 ) Blackburn’s MAZARGO WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE - 14 months old bridle male and I have liked his type. he has a well proportioned head, correct ear set and correct eye shape with gentle expression, he is balanced through out with lovely curves, Graceful arched neck into well laid shoulders, Good front and rear construction and used his rear end with purpose coming and going, he has strong and broad rear and well let down hocks .

Deep chest with lovely top line and curl up at the bottom. Strong and broad thigh with well turned stifles, well let down hocks led to good arched feet. moved out true with reach and drive . 2nd, ( 52 ) Lindsay’s CELTICMOON SHADOW SPELL AT SILVERTHYME- An 18 months old brindle male which not really settled in the ring. However, he has a pleasing outline with good head and correct ear set. Good shape of eyes with gentle expression. He has long neck and good front and deep chest , long ands strong rear quarters with well let down hocks, moved ok.

1st, ( 86 ) Spicer’s JOTHRYN MUCHACHO – 2 year old brindle male in smaller size, well proportioned overall. Good head with correct ear set, correct eye shape with good expressions. Nice long nect , straight legs, curvy topline and tuck up bottom line. Long stifle and well let down hocks. Standing on good feet , moved out well.

1st, ( 68 ) Mulligan’s KIERPARK LOVE ME TENDER AT ASHKYEM – 2 year old brindle male which is well up to size, but he is overall balanced . lovely head with correct shape of eyes gentle expressions, nice and long neck into well laid shoulders, good straight legs with good bone structures, good top line and bottom line and well coated. Broad and long stifles . standing on arched feet and moved out well.

2nd, ( 72 ) Perkins’s ZEGLYNN HELLO YOU – 4 year old fawn male which is again up to size, well proportioned head with good ear set, unfortunately his eye shape spoilt his expression. He has a long neck and well laid shoulders, i’d prefer a deeper chest from him and slightly shorter in body. He has broad and long rear end and well let down hocks, moved out well.

2nd, ( 18 ) Bowsher’s LOLANI RIDE A WILD TRAIL JW - 2 year old fawn male with plenty bones , well up to size both in height and length. He has good overall profile with good head and flat skull, nice eye shape with good expression. Elegant long neck into well muscled shoulders. Straight forelegs with correct bone structure. Deep chest with good top line and bottom line. He has strong thighs and well turned stifles, moved out well with good feet.

1st, ( 43 ) Jones’s JOTHRYN JOHNNY BE GOOD JW – 2 year old brindle male, He has a good head with flat skull, good length of muzzle with complete scissor bite. correct eye shape with a pleasing expression. Elegant long arched neck into well laid shoulders, well filled front with deep chest to give him enough heart room, well sprung ribs and well muscled back arched over his loin, good top line and tucked up underline. Strong and well muscled rear end and well turned stifles, well let down hocks and standing square., moved out free and easy with reach and drive.

Good eye shape showing pleasant expression. Long arched neck into well muscled shoulder with good turn, deep chest with straight legs, well spung ribs with enough tuck up, long back with an arch over the loin , strong rear end with good turn and well down hocks, moved well for his age. ( BEST VETERAN DOG ) ( BEST VETERAN IN SHOW )

2nd, ( 17 ) Bowsher’s DARK WING – 11 and half year old black male which still in good shape for his age, good head and eye shape , long neck into good shoulders, just enough curve top line and bottom line, well muscled rear end, standing on good feet. moved ok.
