My sincere thanks to the officers and committee for the invitation and honour to judge the gundogs and the group. I had some fabulous examples of breed type and quality, which made for some tough decisions. My thanks to all those exhibitors who entered and for showing sportsmanship – something which is rarely seen today. I do hope the exhibitor who fell in the ring is on the road to recovery.

I was delighted to hear that my choices were to the liking of the BIS show judge; to walk away with Best in Show, Reserve Best Puppy in Show and Best Veteran in Show is something I will be proud of.

English Setter

1st Osman, Mrs M, Bournehouse Sirocco Over Marissolo JW This handsome young man, who I have watched ringside for a while, owned the ring he was in today! A lovely tri colour, clean outline and the handsomest of head! Moved true and held his topline. Lovely depth of chest too. Delighted to award him Best of Breed and Group 1. So thrilled to see him go on to win Best in Show. I am sure he will have a glittering career as he matures. I will be following with intent.

2nd Watts, Mr T, Lynwood Ruddy Fantastic unlucky to meet winner today, pushed hard for top honours, moved well, masculine head- nothing overdone here. Good angles throughout and a nice shape. Winner just had the edge in profile.

2nd Disney, Mr P W, ShCh Wonglepong Wills Faramir ShCEx VW Difficult decision here – a worthy title holder, who is in super condition for his years. Well-muscled and balanced. Nice topline and well laid shoulders. Another good mover. Just preferred overall profile of 1.
