Topliss’ Beresford Stand At Ease
Thank you to the Officials and Committee of the ESSC of Wales for the kind invitation to judge at their Breed Championship show. I must thank my very able steward Jason Bullock for his superb stewarding expertise in keeping the ring running smoothly and on track, given that this was a partnership show and we were second in the ring. My sincere thanks also to the exhibitors who entered under me and for the sporting way they accepted my decisions. During the show, the weather took a turn for the worse in parts, with the wind causing mayhem in our tented area for some of the classes and sadly this affected the settling and subsequent movement of some of the exhibits at times.
CLASS: 1 - BABY PUPPY DOG (0,0)
CLASS: 2 - MINOR PUPPY DOG (1,0)
1st: Darling’s ELAZLAN NIGHT HAWK
A B/W baby of just 6 months. Super quality, and excellent bone and substance for one so young. He was presented in lovely coat and condition and once he settled, he moved soundly.
CLASS: 3 - PUPPY DOG (5,0)
1st: Topliss’ BERESFORD STAND AT EASE.
A very smart L/W puppy dog of just over 11 months. Lovely head of correct proportions and with such a gentle masculine expression. He has a good length of neck into well placed shoulders, with pleasing front and rear angulation. He presented a balanced picture and was well off for quality bone and substance. He was presented in super condition and really showed himself off on the move and I was pleased to award him Best Puppy Dog & Best Puppy in Show.
2nd: Walker’s DEXBENELLA LIVIN THE DREAM
Such a lovely L/W young man and at 9 months old, was just out of MP. He presents a well-balanced outline, good angulation overall and has great bone and substance. He has a pleasing head and expression for this stage of his youth. Another presented in excellent coat and condition. He had very nice flowing movement and covered the ground well.
3rd: Such’s GLEADSBURY WHATABOY AT MUJASCAL
4th: Walker’s DAENERYS CATCHING FIRE AT DEXBENELLA
VHC: Tolladay’s CHANANGEL YORKSHIRE ALE WITH BETHERSDEN
CLASS: 4 - JUNIOR DOG (3,0)
1st: Such’s Gleadsbury Whataboy At Mujascal
L/W boy of 11 ½ months, standing third in the PD class. He has a very masculine head and expression; he has plenty of substance and is well off for bone. Presented in lovely coat and condition.
2nd: Topliss’ BERESFORD STAND N' STARE
Quality L/W young boy of 11 months, he is litter brother to my BP and with similar attributes, sadly he was not moving at his best today, however, the same high quality as his brother was all there in his make-up.
3rd: Kibby’s PINHAYS PIE IN THE SKY
CLASS: 5 - YEARLING DOG (1,1)
CLASS: 6 - NOVICE DOG (4,0)
1st: Walker’s Beresford Stand At Ease
2nd: Walker’s Dexbenella Livin The Dream
3rd: Topliss’ Beresford Stand N' Stare
4th: Kibby’s Pinhays Pie In The Sky
CLASS: 7 - GRADUATE DOG (1,0)
1st : Fugle & Cook’s RUSSELL AT CUMANI (IMP ITA)
L/W dog just over 3 years old who was presented and handled well. His head was a little too strong for me and I found him to be somewhat down on his front pasterns and would prefer him to be a little shorter in rear pastern. However, he moved steadily around the ring and covered the ground well.
CLASS: 8 - POST GRADUATE DOG (3,0)
1st: Williams & Toublic’s COBHAY DASHING DANDELION JW
The youngest in the class, this 21 month old L/W held his own in presentation, body substance and movement. Perhaps a shade strong in skull and also down on front pasterns at the moment, but he has good angulation front and rear and moved smartly and with drive, clearly at one with his handler.
2nd: Le-Clerc’s HUNTERHECK FADE TO BLACK
3 yr old B/W with a strong head of reasonable proportions and it has good definition. He has dark eyes and gentle expression. Despite his age I feel that he is still somewhat immature in body and lacks substance overall, with more depth & definition required to the flank/coupling area and also hindquarters.
3rd: Scotting’s ASHRING'S LOVE TOUCH FOR RECONDY
CLASS: 9 - LIMIT DOG (3,2)
1st: Calvert’s CALVDALE WITH RESPECT JW
Absolutely love this L/W young man and he has so much going for him. At just over
2 years old he presents a very pleasing finished picture displaying excellent bone and substance throughout. Super masculine head of correct proportions and definition, and such a kind expression. He has good length to his neck into well placed shoulders and ideal front and rear angulation with required level topline. He moved soundly and with great drive and an easy stride. I had no hesitation in awarding him the Reserve DCC.
CLASS: 10 - OPEN DOG (4,1)
1st: Richardson & Terry-Richardson’s CHERISHYM DOFIDA
5 yr old B/W and one I have judge before when he was 3 years old. Now fully mature and has a defining masculine head of good proportions with a kind, gentle expression. His bone and substance are great, and he stands on the best of feet. He presents a pleasing outline both standing and on the move. Moved the best in this class today.
2nd: Topliss’ SH CH SANDYLANDS STAND N DELIVER
At 4 ½ yrs old, this all male L/W presents an eye-catching profile when standing. Very pleasing masculine head of correct proportions and the gentlest of expressions. Lovely neck and shoulders and level topline. Super bone and substance and the best of feet. Sadly, he was not moving at his best today.
3rd: Darling’s ELAZLAN BILLY KIMBER
CLASS: 11 - CHAMPION DOG (3,1)
1st: Topliss’ SH CH BERESFORD LOCKDOWN
At 4 years old, this very substantial male is another I have judged before and thought highly of. He is a very worthy Champion and certainly has the correct body length to height ratio presenting a very smart profile with level topline. Loved his head proportions and his soft gentle expression. Was superbly presented and handled to perfection.
2nd: Brasch & Borregaard Madsen DK CH(U)/SE CH(U) TRIMERE TIME TRAVELLER
A beautifully presented & handled 4 year old L/W. Not quite the head or profile for me and a little down on his front pasterns, nevertheless he moved soundly and covered the ground well.
CLASS: 12 - VETERAN DOG (1,0)
1st: Walker’s SH CH DEXBENELLA ATTICUS FINCH ShCEx VW
For me, this boy embodies everything that is required of a top quality male ESS – he is so handsome and straight out of the top drawer. At 8 years old he appeared to be saying to everyone today that ‘age is just a number’ and he perhaps demonstrated to our younger exhibits that this is what it is all about. He scores top marks from me for all aspects of his make-up and is particularly blessed with the most divine head and expression, great balance and substance and generally overall ‘pzazz’. In the challenge he proved himself as a very sound mover and covered the ground with such style and ease. I was delighted to award him the Dog CC, Best Veteran and Best in Show.
CLASS: 13 - SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG (3,0)
1st Le-Clerc’s Hunterheck Fade To Black
2nd Fugle & Cook’s Russell At Cumani (imp Ita)
3rd Kibby’s Pinhays Pie In The Sky
CLASS: 14 - BABY PUPPY BITCH (0,0)
CLASS: 15 - MINOR PUPPY BITCH (1,0)
1st: Calvert’s ELAZLAN ELLE FOR LEATHER
What a stunning L/W baby girl she is, presenting a very pretty picture standing and she also moved so true. She is exquisitely feminine at just 6 months old, and I consider that she is exactly where she should be at that age, she definitely exuded quality whichever way I looked at her. She has super bone & substance throughout and stands on great legs & feet. I have no doubt that she has a very promising future.
CLASS: 16 - PUPPY BITCH (7,1)
1st: Weyman’s SPUFFING BELLINI
Such a gorgeous L/W 9 month old young lady. Lovely head and expression, great bone and she already has impressive depth to her chest. She has enough length to her neck going into well laid shoulders. She is so well put together, with great angulation front and rear. She moved soundly as she went around the ring with ease. I liked her a lot and consider that she should have an extremely bright future. Best Puppy Bitch.
2nd: Nicklin’s DAENERYS GIRL ON FIRE AT DEXBENELLA
L/W young lady at just over 11 months old. Beautifully presented and well handled. Good bone and substance throughout with correct angulation and she moved soundly. She has a sweet head with required proportions, but I just preferred the overall head and expression of the first today.
3rd: Walker’s DEXBENELLA A MILLION DREAMS
4th: Topliss’ BERESFORD STAND ON CEREMONY
VHC: De Carteret’s DEXBENELLA BELIEVIN DREAMS AT DERRINDEE
CLASS: 17 - JUNIOR BITCH (4,0)
1st: Corbett’s SIEGER’S SEE EYE TO EYE WITH TRIMERE (IMP DK) NAF
This 17 month old L/W young lady has developed into a very stylish exhibit who exudes substance and balance. She presents a very eye catching outline both on the move and in profile when standing. She is a pleasure to go over, her delightful neck into such well-placed shoulders along with the rest of her correct front angulation and matching rear assembly gave a very sound performance overall and she was a pleasure to watch in the ring and no doubt one to watch in the future.
2nd: Taubman’s MEONSTOKE WILD THYME
Pleasing L/W thirteen month old young lady giving quite a lot away with regards to maturity in this class. Sweet feminine expression, ample bone and substance for her age and stands on lovely compact feet. She had sound movement both front and rear and was well presented.
3rd: Kibby’s PINHAYS PRIDE AND JOY
4th: Kibby’s PINHAYS PRINCESS SARAH
CLASS: 18 - YEARLING BITCH (3,1)
1st: Harrison & MacBain’s DAENERYS WINTER SOLSTICE AT FECIMUS
Very pretty 14 month old L/W with good proportions to her head and a feminine expression. Has great bone and substance with lovely compact feet. She presents a balanced outline which is ably demonstrated both standing and on the move. Her coat presentation was first class.
2nd: Kibby’s Pinhays Princess Sarah
Was 4th in the JB class and in this class, at just 12 months old was very sweet but lacked in body and substance and did not have the balance of 1. Moved confidently but perhaps needs to tighten up in front and rear movement.
CLASS: 19 - NOVICE BITCH (7,1)
1st: Weyman’s Spuffing Bellini
2nd: Calvert’s CHANANGEL YORKSHIRE HONEY
Very smart 10 month old top quality L/W young lady and she has great substance for one so young. Has a lovely feminine head and expression, she was a delight to go over and did not disappoint. Seemed a little unsure of herself on the move today but nevertheless I feel she is a star in the making.
3rd: Kibby’s Pinhay’s Pride and Joy
4th: Kibby’s Pinhays Princess Sarah
VHC: Proctor’s Forgespring Nobody’s Fool At Blissenbea
CLASS: 20 - GRADUATE BITCH (6,1)
1st: Williams & Toublic’s COBHAY HEAVENLY HYDRANGEA JW BEL JCH
Delightfully feminine 21 month old L/W young lady who was beautifully presented. Not quite where she should be with regards to the finished outline as to when she matures, but absolutely loved her head and expression and given her pleasing bone and substance, coupled with correct front and rear angulation and her sound movement, was happy to award her first place.
2nd: Harrison & MacBain’s Daenerys Winter Solstice At Fecimus
3rd: Fugle & Cook’s EASTRIDING LOVE IN BLACK WITH CUMANI
4th: Kibby’s Pinhays Princess Sarah
VHC: Le-Clerc’s HUNTERHECK LOST IN A SPELL
CLASS: 21 - POST GRADUATE BITCH (3,2)
1st: Richardson & Terry-Richardson’s DAENERYS MOONDANCER TO CHERISHYM
Stood alone but was very worthy of her first place. One I believe I have judged before as a junior, but now at almost 3 ½ she presents a very pleasing grown-up picture. She has a very feminine head and expression, good length to her neck into well placed shoulders. Correct topline and great muscle definition to hindquarters. She moved soundly and with ease.
CLASS: 22 - LIMIT BITCH (6,0)
1st: Walker’s DEXBENELLA DOUBLE OR QUIT
What a delight it was to find this quality 3 yr old B/W exhibit and she certainly took my eye as she entered the ring. She did not disappoint me in any way, and I found so much to love in every required attribute of an ESS when I went over her and also when I watched her move. In this class and also in the challenge, her performance was both vivacious and elegance personified, and I had no hesitation in awarding her the BCC, RBIS and Best B/W.
2nd: Chandler’s ELAZLAN CORONATION DAY JW
Very nicely made L/W top quality bitch of just over 2 years old. A real pleasure to go over from her feminine head of delightful proportions and gentle expression, right through to the tip of her well placed tail. She has lovely bone and substance and feet; she was beautifully presented and moved soundly.
3rd: Cox’s TIROEN TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
4th: Kibby’s TRIMERE TAYLOR MAID AT PINHAYS JW ShCEx OSW
VHC: Proctor’s PETRANELLA PERFICK BLISS AT BLISSENBEA
CLASS: 23 - OPEN BITCH (6,0)
1st: Smith’s SH CH MELVERLY IRIDESCENT
1st and 2nd in this class are without a doubt, two fabulous L/W quality exhibits, straight out of the top drawer and fully deserve their titles. Both mature and at their best, the first being almost 3 years old and the second one 4 years old. Delightfully feminine heads of correct proportions on both, and super angulation front and rear. Great bone and substance throughout. In this class today, I just preferred the symmetry of the exhibit standing first and in the final challenge was pleased to award her the RBCC.
2nd: Corbett’s SH CH TRIMERE TIME FLYS
3rd: Topliss’ SANDYLANDS SEND MY LOVE
4th: Taubman’s MELTAROSE MADELEINE AT MEONSTOKE
VHC: Keely’s KHALEESI DE LES TRES LLACUNES WITH ALHAMBIAN (IMP ESP)
CLASS: 24 - CHAMPION BITCH (1,0)
1st: Smith’s SH CH MELVERLY VIGNETTE
A beautiful L/W girl of almost 3 years and one I have judged before as a puppy. I thought very highly of her then and I still do. She is so well made and of excellent quality throughout with very many super elements to her make-up. However, today was not her day as she did not want to give of her best on the move.
CLASS: 25 - VETERAN BITCH (3,1)
1st: Hydon’s IR SH CH CLENTONIAN PANDEMONIUM JW ShCEx OSW VW
Delightfully feminine B/W bitch in lovely coat and condition, with pleasing head and expression. At just over 8 years of age, she moves soundly and covers the ring with such spirit and energy. She is well put together, has excellent bone and substance and displays a very smart outline.
2nd: West’s GROSBREUIL ABRICOT REGAL
This L/W nine year old girl has a lovely head and such gentle expression with good colour & shape to her eyes. Slightly heavier in build and longer cast than 1 and not in her best textured jacket today. She moved well albeit a little close behind.
CLASS: 26 - SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH (6,2)
1st: Proctor’s Petranella Perfick Bliss At Blissenbea
This 4 year old L/W bitch was very steady on the move and well presented. She is a nice size, but I would perhaps prefer a little less weight over the shoulders. She has good bone and substance with lovely compact feet.
2nd: Fugle & Cook’s Eastriding Love In Black With Cumani
3 year old B/W presented in good coat. Perhaps carrying a little too much weight overall today and this affected her movement somewhat.
3rd: Kibby’s Pinhays Pride and Joy
4th: Le-Clerc’s Hunterheck Lost In A Spell.
