Hungarian Puli Club of GB Championship Dog Show – 5th October 2025
Thank you very much to the Hungarian Puli Club of GB’s Committee for inviting me to judge their Championship Show and for their help, especially my Stewards (Rob & Natalie), as well as for the hospitality afforded to me on the day. I would also like to thank all of the exhibitors and their Pulis for making it such an enjoyable day. Overall, I was pleased with the quality and presentation of the exhibits on the day, especially the main winners. However, I was a bit disappointed there were no puppies entered on the day.
JD (1,0) 1 – Rhodes’ Tyngeli Wishful Thinking – 16 month old black male who looked every inch a good quality Puli. His head is of the correct proportions with a slightly domed skull, correct scissor bite, dark pigment, dark brown eyes, ears correctly set just below the top of the skull. Medium length of neck leading into a level topline, ribs of correct depth. Both the fore and hindquarters have all of the correct angles which contribute to his smooth fluid movement keeping his topline level and covering the ground efficiently. Was more than happy to award him RDCC and RBIS.
YD (3,1) 1 - Rhodes’ Tyngeli Wishful Thinking. 2 – Keeling’s Catsun Springs Sunshine – Slightly older than 1 at 18 months and although his coat is slightly further on in development, the two of them are quite similar. Well-proportioned head with a defined stop, eyes and ears correctly set, scissor bite and dark pigment. Well laid shoulders, elbows fairly tight to the ribcage, level topline leading to a slightly sloping rump. Hindquarters are well muscled for his age with low set hocks. Just preferred the slightly smoother movement of 1.
PGD (1,0) 1 – Cook’s Montydom Cheeky Chappy – 6 year old white male who wasn’t happy on the table today. He did let me go over him to find eyes and ears set correctly, scissor bite and good pigmentation. Correct angles on the fore and hindquarters, well-muscled, level topline, moved okay. I would have preferred a little more of him.
LD (2,0) 1 – Keeling’s Catsun Singular Sensation for Wisley – 2 year old black male who presented a square outline. His head was okay with the correct dark eye correctly set as were the ears. Medium length of neck leading down to well sprung ribs and correct forequarters. Hindquarters well-muscled with good angles. Quite fluid on the move keeping a level topline. 2 Cook’s Montydom Gorgous George - 4 year old white male with a correctly proportioned head set upon a medium length neck leading down to his level topline. Well sprung ribs and reasonably tight elbows, short broad loin leading to correct angles in the hindquarters. Coat in good condition. Just preferred the movement of 1 today.
OD (3,0) 1 – Mill’s Ch Ludas Matyi Aladar (Imp HUN) – 5 year old black male with a well-kept fully corded coat. Correct head, with correctly set dark eyes and low set ears, scissor bite and good dark pigmentation. Medium length of neck, well sprung and correct depth of rib, level topline and correct angles on front and rear. Covered the ground well with the correct short-stepping movement. More than happy to award him the DCC & BIS. 2 – Cowley’s Kashbeluli There We Are Then JW ShCEx OSW - 3½ year old black male who’s ever so slightly smaller cast than 1. Correctly proportioned head, scissor bite, dark eyes and low set ears all set upon a medium length neck leading down to a square frame. Well laid shoulders, good spring and depth of rib, level topline, well-muscled hindquarters which also have all the correct angles. Didn’t feel he moved as well as I’ve seen him move in the past. 3 – Knight’s Ch Flindattie The Shogun – 6 year old male who’s coat appears to be greying out. He’s another good example of the breed who has a good head with a scissor bite, dark pigment, nice dark eye and low set ears. Well laid shoulders, spring of rib and short loin. Level topline leading to the hindquarters which are well constructed. Moved okay.
VD (2,1) 1 – Sharpe & Dyer’s Ch Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx VW – 8 year old black male with a well presented coat. Head of correct proportions, dark eye, scissor bite and well set ears. Correct length of neck leading onto a level topline. Well laid shoulders, good depth and spring of rib, the desired hindquarters with good muscle and low set hocks. Moved well when he settled down. RBVIS
SNBOD (2,0) 1 – Cook’s Montydom Gorgous George. 2 - Cook’s Montydom Cheeky Chappy
JB (1,0) 1 – Scrutton’s Tyngeli Make A Wish for Gemeau – 16 month old very feminine black bitch. She presented a square outline with a coat that was going through the “explosion” stage of development. Fine head which included the correct dark eyes correctly set, scissor bite and dark pigment. Ears set just below the top of the skull. She has well laid shoulders, level topline leading to well-muscled hindquarters. She moved with the correct gait covering the ground well.
PGB (3,2) 1 – Cook & Anderton’s Montydom Back To The Future for Weetoneon – 2 year old black female whose coat is maturing. Nice head with the required scissor bite and dark pigment, dark eyes and correctly set ears. Her head is set upon a medium length neck leading down to a level topline. Forequarters, ribs, loin and hindquarters all as they should be. When stood, she gave the impression of being a little long, but she is square. Her movement was lively.
LB (2,0) 1 – Anderson & Mayne’s Vilmos Viva La Diva – 4 year old black female. Correct head proportions with good ears and eye set, correct dark eye and pigmentation, scissor bite. Well laid shoulders, good depth and spring of ribs. Level topline leading to well-muscled hindquarters with low set hocks. Her coat is almost there. Looked quite balanced on the move. 2 Cook & Anderton’s Montydom Chantilly Lace – 6 year old white female slightly larger cast than 1. Correct head proportions, scissor bite, dark eye and good pigmentation. Good front and rear angulation divided by a good set of ribs and a nicely tucked-up stomach. Wasn’t quite as smooth as 1 on the move.
VB (5,1) 1 – Corah’s Ch Callendu Diamonds ‘n Pearls – 9 year old black female in great condition belying her age, a comment I could say about the whole class. Head of correct proportions, dark eye, well set ears, scissor bite and good pigment. Medium length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and a level topline. Ribs of good depth and spring. Hindquarters well put together and well-muscled. Moved with the correct short stepping gait. BCC & BVIS. 2 Knight’s Ch Weetoneon Polly Flinders – 13 year old black female who gave her younger competitor a good run for the class win. Fine feminine head, eyes set well as were her ears. All of the correct angles were present in the front and rear assemblies, reasonably well muscled for her age. Just preferred 1’s movement today. RBCC 3 – Webster & Topping’s Hampatong Head Of State – 10 year old black female who is slightly larger cast, but equally well presented. Once again a good example of how well this breed can mature into old age without losing the attributes of a younger Puli.
SNBOB (4,1) 1 Cook & Anderton’s Montydom Chantilly Lace. BSNBIS 2 – Knight’s Enter Suzy Q Vom Mullersgrund to Weetoneon (Imp DEU) – 10 year old white female with a head of correct proportions, dark eye, scissor bite and well set ears. Correct length of neck leading onto a level topline. Well laid shoulders, good depth and spring of rib, good hindquarters with all the correct angles. Movement not quite as good as 1. 3 – Sear & Quill’s Searwell Supersymmetry – 12 year old white female in full coat. Good head, dark eye, scissor bite and well set ears. Correct length of neck leading onto a level topline. Well laid shoulders, good depth and spring of rib, hindquarters with all the correct angles. Moved okay.
