It was an honour and privilege to be invited to judge the very first Championship Show for the Northern Ireland Bulldog Club, my sincere thank you for this appointment and one of which I thoroughly enjoyed. A wonderful and welcoming committee, with dedicated members who came together to put on a great show. Thank you to my lovely steward, Alan, who kept the ring running smoothly, and to Stanley for the warm hospitality. It was a pleasure to find so many exhibitors had taken the long journey over to Ireland for the show, and I thank you all for allowing me to go over your beautiful dogs. I found overall the health of the dogs to be very good! The odd tight tail, but I found eyes, skin and breathing to be excellent overall.

Class 1 – BPD (1/0)

1. Mr. A, Brosnan, Starbornbullies Dave The Rave. 4mth old B/W baby, lovely head shape with good length of skull, finely wrinkled with nice clear dark eyes. Correct rosed ears, large black nose with wide open nostrils, well upturned jaw giving correct layback. Strong boned & straight forelegs, nice rib developing and good reach of neck. Correct topline rising over the loins leading to low set tail and good rear angulation. Moved well for one so young. 

Class 2 – BPB (2/0)

1. Mr. A, Brosnan, Starbornbullies Ice Queen. 4mth old W, lovely well balanced feminine puppy with nice head developing. Flat skull, finely wrinkled with rosed ears. Good length of skull and foreface, clear dark eyes set well apart, open nostrils, good upturn of underjaw and correct layback. Well boned straight front, good reach of neck and shapely body developing. Her topline rises gently over the loins, just right for her age, leading to low set free tail. Rear angulation is good and she moved well. Presented & handled well. BBPIS 

2. Mr. J, Irvine, Onabazz Belatrix Lestrange. Almost 6mth old R/W, another lovely baby puppy, strong front with well boned straight forelegs, tacked on shoulder, clean head, nice depth and length to skull. Dark clear eyes, open nostrils and good turn of underjaw, rosed ears need to settle. Well ribbed with reach of neck, slightly longer in body to 1, topline rising over the loins leading to free moving tail set low. Good rear angulation, and moved well.

1. Mr & Mrs. G & J, Munro, Bertie’s Legacy. 9mth old, R/W, Large head with flat skull, finely wrinkled. Rosed ears set wide apart, clear dark eyes, large black nose with open nostrils, true jaw. Tacked on shoulder, tight feet, good reach of neck and correct topline leading to free moving low set tail. Moved soundly. 

Class 6 – JD (2/0)

1. Mrs & Mr. D & D, Lees, Mellowmood I’m A Lucky Man. 11mth old, W/R, Lovely type with impressive front. Typical ‘brick shaped’ head, finely wrinkled with small rosed ears set correctly with good width between. Clear dark eyes set deep and wide apart, large black nose with open nostrils, well rounded cheeks and good upturn of underjaw giving a correct fitting mouth with true wide jaw. Super bone, square front with tightest of feet, tacked on shoulders, good reach of neck and well sprung rib. Topline gently rising over his loins leading to free low set tail. Good rear angulation and moved well from all angles. Immaculately presented and handled well. Pleased to award him the RDCC & BPIS. 

2. Mrs. P, Dunican, Reyesdebull Lincoln Junior for Valdekyrios Bull. 15mths R/W, another lovely male who was unfortunate to come up against my winner of the class today. Strong head with slightly more wrinkle, large flat skull with good length, rosed ears set high and wide, well padded cheeks, clear dark eyes and large black nose with open nostrils. Wide foreface with true wide jaw and correct upturn of underjaw. Strong straight bone, square front with tacked on shoulders. Well arched neck and short compact body shape with good rib. Lovely topline, low set tail and well angulated hind quarters. Moved well around the ring. 

Class 7 – YD (2/0)

1. Mr & Mrs. S & H, Rose, Rosebull’s Muad Dip. 14mths R/W, standard male with nice head proportions, fine wrinkled flat skull, rosed ears set correctly, beautiful clear dark eyes set well apart, well rounded cheeks, open nostrils with good pigmentation, good width of foreface with true jaw and upturn of under jaw. Square front, elbows well away from ribcage, would prefer a little more forechest, arched neck and correct topline rising over the loins, well sprung rib and free low set tail. Moved well.

2. Ms. C, Colson, De L’elevage Des Hauteur Warrior Oreo. 19mths R/W, Standard masculine male, heavier wrinkle to class winner, large skull which has good width and depth, rosed ears, clear dark eyes, black nose with open nostrils. broad foreface, with true wide jaw. Square front, well boned straight forelegs & tacked on shoulders. Compact body shape, good reach of neck and gentle rise in topline over loins. Enough rear angulation and low set tail. Moved well. 

Class 8 – ND (1/0)

1. Ms. J, Lamb, Shipshape Mr Fezziwig at Kayldemb. 4 yr old, R/W, All round tidy male, with large head finely wrinkled. Flat skull with rosed ears set well apart. Clear dark eyes, large black nose with open nostrils. Square front with well boned straight forelegs leading to tight feet. Tacked on shoulders, good reach of neck and correct topline leading to low set free tail. Nice rear angulation and moved well. 

Class 9 – PGD (1/0)

1. Ms. J, Lamb, Shipshape Mr Fezziwig at Kayldemb (refer to class 8)

Class 10 – LD (3/0)

1. Mr. S, Peebles, Weebullz Parabellum. 14mths, R/W, lovely standard male full of type. I judged him as a puppy and he has matured very well. Nice head piece with correct proportions, flat skull finely wrinkled with correct rosed ears set well apart. Well rounded cheek, clear dark eyes and wide open nostrils. He has a good length of skull & foreface, which is also deep and well padded. Correct upturn and fitting of true jaw with good width. Square front, well boned leading to tight feet. Lovely brisket, compact pear shaped body with good reach of neck and correct topline. Strong rear, good angulation and moved well (very happy chap) around the ring. Handled and turned out beautifully. 

2. Mr & Mr. L & S, Avison & Ainsworth, Boltonbully Captain Morgan. This was another lovely standard sized male with lots to like. He is well balanced, in both head and body. Fine wrinkled flat skull, rosed ears set correctly, clear dark eyes and wide open nostrils. Deep foreface and true jaw and good upturn. Well boned, straight and square front with tight feet, tacked on shoulders and nice cobby body, with good reach of neck and nice topline leading to low set free tail. Good rear angulation, moved and handled well. 

3. Mr & Mrs. G & J, Munro, Smoochabull Out Of Time at Dreadgod

Class 11 – OD (12/5)

1. Ms. I, Cezar, Multi CH Why Not Babynou Bull. 2 yr old R/W, This beautiful male is full of breed type and he is so well balanced from head to tail. Standard sized, with a beautiful head piece, flat skull finely wrinkled with rosed ears set correctly with good width between. He has a good length of skull, well rounded cheeks and broad foreface. Clear dark eyes, large black nose with open nostrils and good width of jaw. Impressive square front, well boned straight forelegs lead to super tight feet, and deep brisket to finish a perfect picture. Lovely reach of well arched neck, elbows set away from ribcage, pear shaped body with well sprung rib and compact body. Most beautiful topline, which he held on the move leading to low set free tail. Correct rear angulation, strong hocks and moved so well with typical Bulldog gait around the ring. He was handled and presented beautifully. So happy to of awarded him the DCC. 

2. Mr. A, Brosnan, Ir CH Starbornbullies Mr B. 3 yr old R/W, Strong masculine male but without exaggeration, he has a large clean head, fine wrinkle with correct rosed ears sat well apart. Good length of skull, well rounded cheeks and very wide foreface. Clear dark expressive eyes, open nostrils and an excellent width of jaw with a strong upsweep of underjaw. Square front with straight and well boned forelegs, tacked on shoulders with elbows set well away from body. He is slightly longer in body to class winner, excellent reach of neck and gentle rise in topline over the loins. Well sprung rib, nipped in waist and very good rear angulation. He moved well, was well muscled and presented beautifully. 

3. Mrs. S, Macdonald, Frederick Of The Hollybullz at Winenbru. 

Class 12 – VB (3/0)

1. Mrs. G, Westmorland, Gailbulls Cleo A Jazz Singer. R/W, one month away from 13 yrs, and what a beautiful female for her grand age who loved being in the ring today. Lovely type, large head, with flat skull fine wrinkle and good length of skull. The darkest clearest of eyes, rosed ears set correctly, deep stop, nose roll set well back from her lovely big nose with wide open nostrils. Well rounded cheeks, good width of deep foreface and wide jaw. She has a beautiful square front, straight forelegs lead to lovely tight feet, well let down brisket and she has a typical short compact body shape with tacked on shoulder and well rounded ribs. Lovely topline, enough rear angulation and moved very well. Presented beautifully. BVIS

2. Mr & Mrs. R & J, Morrow, Marcarobull Taking You Home. R/W, 8yrs 9mths old, well balanced veteran in lovely condition for her age. Clean head piece, with flat skull, fine wrinkle and rosed ears set well apart. Lovely clear dark eyes, wide open nostrils and wide jaw with good upsweep. She has a nice square front with tacked on shoulders, straight bone with enough brisket set low between. Nice pear shaped body, with correct topline and low set tail. Strong hindquarters and moved well.

Class 14 – PB (3/1)

1. Mr. J, McSorley, Bradiebe Lady In Red for Soraled. R/W, 11mth old flashy puppy of standard size. Finely wrinkled skull, correct rosed ears, well defined stop between clear dark eyes. Open nostrils with good pigmentation, good width of underjaw and foreface with a true wide jaw. Straight forelegs lead to nice tight feet. Good reach of neck with well rounded rib and compact pear shaped body developing. Enough rear angulation and gentle rise in topline over the loins. Moved well. 

2. Mr & Mr. L & S, Avison & Ainsworth, Rosielolas Next Generation at Boltonbully. R/W, 11mth old, bigger and longer in body to first place. Good length of skull which is finely wrinkled, clear dark eyes & a big black nose with wide open nostrils. Ears need to settle. Well padded cheeks and good width of foreface. Square front with tacked on shoulders, strong boned, tight feet, and a lovely reach of neck. Well let down hocks, free moving tail, moved well. 

Class 15 – JB (3/0)

1. Ms. J, McConaghy, Melafella’s Miss Behave at Bahooke. W/R, 11mth old, standard sized feminine bitch, lovely clean head piece with large dark clear expressive eyes. Finely wrinkled skull with well defined stop. Ears need to settle, nice width of foreface with true wide jaw and well fitting underjaw. Square front with straight forelegs leading to tight feet, tacked on shoulders with elbows set away from ribcage. Good reach of neck, slight rise in topline over the loins, mobile tail, strong hind quarters, well muscled. Moved well coming and going. 

2. Mr. W, Cameron, Mokenzie I’m Chloe. R/W, 13mth old, Standard feminine bitch, nice type. Flat & finely wrinkled skull, correct rosed ears with good width between. Nose roll set well back from nose, good open nostrils, clear dark eyes. A little tear staining today. Well padded cheeks, true jaw. Lovely square front with strong straight forelegs, nice compact & shapely body with reach of neck and roached topline leading to low set tail. Moved okay. 

3. Mr. G, Higgins, Mokenzie I Am Winnie

Class 16 – YB (3/1)

1. Ms. C, Colson, De L’elevageDes Hauteur With Love maya. R/W, 22mths old, well balanced flashy bitch with strong head. Broad flat skull, fine wrinkle and good length of skull with rosed ears set correctly. Large clear dark eyes, showing a little white at times. Open nostrils, well padded cheeks, excellent width of foreface with wide jaw and correct turn of underjaw. Square front, tacked on shoulders, well boned forelegs and tight feet. Good reach of neck leads to nice shaped outline, well sprung rib and pleasing topline. Good rear angulation and moved well. 

2. Mr. A, Brosnan, Starbornbullies Amazing Grace. R/W, 19mths old, another flashy female, slightly smaller with a lovely clean head and expressive eyes. Broad flat skull with correctly set rosed ears, clear dark round eyes, nose roll set well back from a large black nose with wide open nostrils. Well rounded cheeks and good width & depth of foreface. True wide jaw and correct upturn. Well boned straight forelegs lead to tight feet, compact body with a lovely reach of neck, good rib and nipped in waist. Correct topline, low set free tail and good rear angulation. A little out of coat today. She moved well from all angles. 

Class 17 – NB (1/0)

1. Ms. L, Lublinkska, Pearl Star. R/W, 3yrs old. Lovely head, typical ‘brick shaped’ skull with great length and layback. Finely wrinkled skull, with correct rosed ears. Clear dark round eyes, full nose roll set back from large nose with open nostrils and good pigmentation. Good width and length of foreface with true jaw and correct upturn and fit of underjaw. Square front, enough bone, good reach of neck and slight rise in topline over the loins. Lovely coat condition, enough rear angulation and moved soundly. 

Class 18 – PGB (3/2)

1. Mr & Ms. S & N, Rose & Burridge, Jackarhys Eclipse Rosebull. W, 17mth old. Beautiful well balanced feminine bitch with typical ‘stand off’ expression. Lovely clean head piece, broad flat skull with fine wrinkle, correct rosed ears, clear dark expressive eyes set deep & wide apart with defined stop between. Well padded cheeks, full nose roll set well back from a large black nose with wide open nostrils. Strong foreface which is wide and deep, true wide jaw and strong underjaw giving typical sour expression. Beautiful front assembly, strong bone with tacked on shoulders and super tight feet. Deep brisket, elbows set away from well sprung rib cage. Good reach of neck, pear shaped compact body, slight rise in topline with nipped in waist and excellent rear angulation and free tail. Moved very well coming and going. Presented in immaculate condition, pleased to award her BCC. 

Class 19 – LB (4/0)

1. Ms. S & L, Bland & McElligott, Kingrock Jemima Puddleduck with Leximus JW. R/W, 23mths old. Flashy feminine and well balanced bitch, with a nice clean head. Broad flat skull, finely wrinkled, good length. Correct rosed ears, beautiful dark clear expressive eyes, full nose roll set back from a large black nose with wide open nostrils. Well padded cheeks, true wide jaw with correct turn of underjaw. Square front, with tacked on shoulders leading to straight forelegs and super tight feet. Elbows set away from well sprung ribcage, deep enough forechest and a great reach of neck. Beautiful topline, nipped in waist and low set free moving tail. Strong hindquarters, good angulation and well muscled thigh. She moved out very well, was presented immaculately. Pleased to award her the RBCC. 

2. Mrs & Miss. J & R, Collie, Thornford Head Turner. B/W, 2yr old. Another lovely female, with many virtues. Large head, broad flat skull, fine wrinkle, rosed ears set correctly on skull with plenty of width between. Clear dark eyes, full nose roll, very good wide open nostrils, well padded foreface with good width and true wide jaw with correct upturn of underjaw. Lovely front, tacked on shoulders, well off for bone which is straight and nice depth of brisket between. Enough reach of neck, compact body with correct topline rising over the loins and low set tail. Good rear angulation and well let down hocks. Moved well. 

3. Ms. C, Reynolds, Thornford Shining Comet

Class 20 – OB (6/2)

1. Mr. I, Devoy, Rosebull’s Hettie. R/W, 4yr old. Strong bitch with good proportions, lovely head, large broad & flat skull with fine wrinkle. Rosed ears set correctly, clear dark eyes set deep and wide apart, well padded cheeks, good open nostrils, excellent width of foreface and turn of underjaw with true wide jaw. Square front, tacked on shoulders, strong bone. Lovely pear shaped body, reach of neck and great well sprung rib. Topline rising gently over the loins leading to low set free tail. Enough rear angulation, moved well. 

2. Mr. A, Brosnan, Ir CH Starbornbullies Keep The Faith. R/W 3yr old. Strong head and front on this lovely girl, typical ‘brick shaped’ skull with great length. Flat skull, finely wrinkled with correct rosed ears. Clear dark eyes, lovely big nose with wide open nostrils, good width of foreface with true wide jaw and strong underjaw giving off a sour expression. Tacked on shoulders lead to well boned straight forelegs, upright pasterns and tight feet. A tad longer in body to first, excellent reach of neck, elbows well away from ribcage and nipped in waist. Would like a little more weight on her today. Strong hindquarters, good rear angulation and moved well.
