SCOTTISH TERRIER

Thank you to Caroline Friend – Rees and the WELKs committee for their kind invitation to judge Scottish Terriers at their 2025 show, I had a lovely day judging. Thank you to the exhibitors for their entry and my stewards for keeping the ring moving so efficiently.

PUPPY DOG (1/1) 1. Williams, Williams & Williams’ Celmareva Hakuna Matata. Strongly made 9 month old brindle of pleasing breed type and well presented. Good head, with dark eye, good bite and keen expression. Good lay of shoulder into level topline that he held on the move. Well sprung ribs but would like a little more depth but am sure this will come with age.
JUNIOR DOG (3/1) 1. Miller, Miller & Hoare’s Glenaffric Hidden Magic. Brindle with long head with dark, almond shaped eyes, with scissor bite, good spring of rib and well-placed shoulder. Would like more width and substance, however, moved around the ring with purpose and drive, holding his topline to win him the class and ultimately Best Dog. 2. Williams, Williams & Williams’ Celmareva Hakuna Matata. As before – unfortunately he was giving his handler a hard time, and his reluctance to move cost him the class.
LIMIT DOG (2/2) 1. Webster’s Eimahan’s Phantom Menace of Pepilarue. Black dog with deep chest, with good angulation and good spring of rib. He has a cheeky expression and a good bite. Lacking a little in balance but out moved the competition. 2. Newshams’ Chatterdale Unique Star at Brazenhill. Substantial black dog, giving away some in age to the winner of the class, and am sure develop more with age. I feel altering this dogs trimming would enhance his breed characteristics. Similar comments apply to both and can see them both exchanging places in the future.
OPEN DOG (1/1) 1. Kammonen’s INT/FIN/EE/SE/DK Ch. Perhaps Supa Dupa. Black dog that throws a good silhouette, unfortunately, today he was giving his handler a hard time, which meant he missed out to the younger dog, but was still pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog. This dog has excellent substance, and good width throughout. He was presented in excellent condition with superb coat texture.
VETERAN BITCH (1/1) 1. Webster’s Glengracie Miss Mercury Of Pepilarue. Typey 8 year old wheaten bitch with good substance, who went around the ring like a pro. She sports a deep chest with good spring of rib, dark eye and good bite, with a typical expression.
PUPPY BITCH (2/1) Kammonen’s Six Penny Half Penny. Just 6 months old but this didn’t stop this little girl owning the ring. Cheeky and naughty, just the way a baby should be! Good front, with deep chest, well sprung rib and short back with well laid shoulder. Nice rear angulation, with good seton giving a perfect silhouette. Lovely head, with good bite with a twinkle in her eye and a keen expression. Quality bitch with lots of promise, RBB and BPIB.
JUNIOR BITCH (3/2) 1. Trumper’s Glennaffric Must Be Magic. Brindle bitch, just 14 months, moved around the ring well with her owner. Lovely feminine head, clean cheeks, good bite with dark eye & typical expression, well placed ears although they could be used to better advantage. Straight legs, deep chest, good rear angulation helped to create a typical silhouette, although could carry more weight to advantage.
LIMIT BITCH (3/2) 1. McCracken’s Carisco Myrlte Beach to Amawyn Typey brindle bitch that moved with purpose and drive around the ring with her tail carried bang on top. Good angulation, deep, well sprung ribs and short back, feminine with dark eye, good bite and clean head. Lovely harsh coat, presented to advantage, coupled with being the best mover on the day gave her the edge of the others and was pleased to award her BB and BOB
