DRIFFIELD CH SHOW TOY GROUP 49th Show

Thanks to the committee for inviting me back to judge the Toy group after the disappointment of the cancellation of the 2024 show. A really strong group, the quality was very high throughout with some lovely dogs to choose from. I also shortlisted the S/C Chihuahua, Italian Greyhound and the Yorkshire Terrier for a further look.

Group 1. Chapman & Ireland's CH Ellemich American Express.

This glorious Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is so well balanced with a lovely headpiece, such a soft gentle expression framed by the longest of ears. His Blenheim coat was presented to perfection with plenty of feathering to complete. It was on the move that he shows just how well made he is,  driving off from behind, he looked a picture of elegance striding around the ring gently wagging his tail as he went and such a great rapport with his handler. No hesitation in awarding him the group and absolutely thrilled to watch him take BIS. Congratulations.

Group 2. Ryan, Roosens & Goessens' Multi CH/CH Uppercut Daydream Believer with Feorlig.

A consumate showgirl who was presented to the best advantage. Super head, very feminine with the characteristic large well fringed mobile ears and a bright intelligent expression. Well made throughout, she presents a balanced, dainty and elegant picture particularly on the move, where she flowed around with a light footed gait.

Group 3. Rutherford & Rutherford's CH Bilohka Dawn Patrol with Potbelli JW.

Multum in Parvo is what's required and this beautiful fawn Pug girl is that. Loved her head, plenty of work without being exaggerated and her clear round dark eyes had a hint of mischief, just what I like to see in the breed. Square and cobby in appearance all topped off with a fine glossy coat. She moved very freely around the ring with a slight roll from the hindquarters as required.

Group 4. Jackson & Jackson's CH Benatone Glint Of Gold.

Sent through from the AVNSC classes, this smart and glamorous Maltese boy was presented to perfection. His  straight silky coat was gleaming. Well constructed throughout, everything fitting together in harmony. Really lovely headpiece, his dark oval eyes had a gentle and intelligent expression. Comes alive on the move, gliding around the ring driving off from behind with such a proud head carriage.
