Border Union Agricultural Society

Many thanks to Border Union for the opportunity to judge the following 3 breeds at their Championship show, unfortunately the weather was not kind to us this year and we were judging under tents rather than in the larger outside rings, some of the dogs I know would have preferred to be outside even in the rain. Many thanks to my stewards for keeping the ring moving, and huge thank you to the exhibitors for entering their dogs for me to judge on the day I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Puppy Dog (Ent 2, A: 0)

1st Callaiscroft Esprit De Vie for Amicofedele NAF (Mr D & Miss K & Mr J & Miss G C Bramley & Holdstock & Fretwell & Markin), a strong well-built boy who was full of himself today, good sculptured head and chiselling, of correct proportions, powerful in neck into correct well separated shoulder blades, forelegs strong with oval bone into tight well arched feet, gives the appearance of squire dog with correct depth to length, rear has good bend of stifle and good muscle definition developing, moved with drive from rear with head carriage correct. Best Puppy in Breed & Reserve Best Dog.

2nd Elfrindew Yankee Doodle (Mrs M & Mrs A Dodd & Struthers-Lake) another lovely youngster, good in head, strong neck into correct shoulders, straight front with correct bone, feet could have been tighter, good in profile showing correct construction, moved out well with good drive from rear.

Junior Dog (Ent:2 A: 1)

1st Gunsyn Superstitious (Mrs L Bowley) lovely boy from this well-known kennel, a little spooked today with the heavy rain and tent noise, lovely in head with correct angles and arches, lovely soft expression, strong short neck into good shoulders, correct in overall proportions, good in bone and good tight feet, correct topline with strong well-muscled loin, rear well-muscled with good bend of stifle, moved well with good head carriage.

1st Sh Ch Gunsyn Wave Runner in Brackenmist (ai) (Miss S & Mr A Mcandrew & Cooper) lovely boy with an outstanding head and outline, deep in muzzle and well chiselled below eyes he gives a lovely soft expression, strong in jaw with correct bite, powerful in neck widening towards shoulders, well-built front with correct oval bone, good tight well arched feet, broad in chest and deep, correct in topline with slight slope into strong well-muscled loin, hindquarters well-muscled and good bend of stifle, moved with a powerful drive covering the ground with ease, looked like he could go on all day. 2nd Owlspoint Loads of Trouble at Heberhouse JW (Mrs V & Mr A Warburton) dog of good proportions slightly shorter in muzzle to 1 short strong neck, correct front with lovely tight feet, good depth and breadth to chest, correct in body, would like more angulation in rear, moved well with handler.

1st Gunsyn Supercala in Brackenmist (Miss S & Mr A Mcandrew & Cooper) 14month old girl in excellent condition very feminine in head with lovely soft expression, correct width and length to foreface, good eye and correct ear set, strong short neck into well placed shoulders, straight in front with correct bone and lovely tight well padded feet, good depth and breadth to body, strong in loin with correct tail set, good angulation to rear with nice turn of stifle, moved out with drive. 1st Sh Ch Gunsyn Gineva (Mrs L Bowley) Lovely mature bitch feminine in head with soft expression, good angles in head and face, short strong neck into correct shoulders, straight in front with lovely feet, correct topline with broad muscular croup, long parallel thighs with nice turn of stifle, good muscle definition, moved with ease and powerful drive. 

2nd Withamfriary Lush Blossom at Heberhouse (Mrs V & Mr A Warburton) lovely girl with good expression all the attributes of 1 but felt that 1 out moved her today.

Veteran Bitch (Ent 3 A 2)

1st Sh Ch Gunsyn Everywhere (Mrs L Bowley) 8 ½ year old lady who does not show her age, lovely feminine head kind in eye, correct ear set, strong short neck into correct shoulders, straight front with good oval bone, lovely tight arched feet, good depth to chest and correct in height to length, well-muscled rear quarters, moved very well around the ring with all the true characteristics of the breed. Best Veteran, Best Bitch.

Post Graduate Dog (Ent 3 A 0)

1st Orchidstar Platinum Strike (Mrs J A Shepherd) liver boy in good condition, correct in head with correct proportions, ears set high with soft coat, long muscular in neck into well placed shoulders, elbows well laid back straight in front with slightly sloping pasterns, good feet, deep in chest firm short back, good turn of stifle, well-muscled moved well.

2nd Richtig Rahue JW (Mrs M Garvey) Liver and white boy of correct size correct in head with appearance of alert and energetic dog, good length of neck into well laid-back shoulders, good front with lovely feet, deep in chest, firm in back with good width of croup, strong rear quarters, moved well although 1 was stronger.

1st Sh Ch Jhebron Jeno via Elfrindew (M & T Dodd & Hayes)  6 year old boy in solid black gleaming coat, slightly stronger in head although balanced overall, strong moderately long in neck, sloping and very muscular forequarters, compact feet and well padded, ribs deep and well sprung, firm topline into broad and wide hips, well-muscled thighs with well bent stifles, hocks straight with nearly upright pasterns, docked tail carried horizontally on the move, smooth lithesome gait on the move, coat flat and course and gleaming. 2nd Orchidstar Full Speed Ahead (Mrs J A Shepherd) liver and white boy of good size head of correct proportions, good in neck, straight front with correct tight feet, body of good proportion, rear well-muscled, out moved by 1 today.

Veteran Dog (Ent 2 A 1)

1st Ch Bryburn Bacchus JW ShCM ShCEX (Mr B B & Mrs F V Thurm) 9 tear old boy who did not show his age, good in head although a little grey coming through, well-muscled neck into well placed shoulders, excellent in body with good depth in chest, firm short back with strong loin and good width to hips, well-muscled rear quarters parallel when viewed from rear, smooth lithe movement with forelegs reaching well out in front on the move. Lovely to watch for a mature boy. Reserve Best Dog

1st Magregor Take It All Off Levagrad (Mrs V Stewart) Liver and white girl of good size, feminine in head good length of neck into well placed shoulders, well developed chest, good straight front with slight slope to pasterns, compact close-knit feet with well arched toes, good topline with correct tailset, rear quarters developing well, smooth effortless movement round the ring. Best Puppy in Breed 

Junior Bitch (Ent 2 A: 1)

1st Kinlochmhor Scree (Mr S Symmers) liver and white girl in proportion all over, good in head with moderate length of neck into correct shoulders, level topline with good width to hips, strong rear quarters, coat course to touch, would have preferred a slightly better turn of stifle

Post Graduate Bitch (Ent 5 A 0)

1st Benboee Beeloved (Miss Tait) well made girl nearly solid liver in excellent coat, very feminine in head with good proportion to body, lovely wide nostrils, correct ear set, moderately long in neck into well-muscled shoulders, straight front with well arched toes and correct shape to feet, good depth of chest and level topline, strong rear well-muscled hindquarters, moved well round the ring.

2nd Lagopusmoor Black Mandala On Elfrindew (M & T Dodd & Hayes) lovely solid black girl good in head although still needs time to develop, good length of neck into correct shoulders, straight in front with correct feet, good depth to chest and level in top line, good width to rear with well developed rear quarters, moved well.
