PD (3,1)

1. Wells’ Huffish Black Hero Taf Naf. 10 mth old black who shows much promise and was good to go over. All male and with pleasing bone, yet still retaining elegance. Neck of good length, short back with ribbing extending well back, muscular loin, firm croup and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Masculine head with good length, leathers set on just right, expressive eyes and scissor bite. Pleasing angles front and rear and he stands true in front on tight feet and with well-developed forechest for age. When gaiting, he moved freely fore and aft and opened up well on the go around with confident carriage. Well presented and handled. Best Puppy Dog.

2. Spry’s Celmareva We Know The Way. White of 7 mths and not nearly as advanced as the winner. He has a neck of good length, is nice and short in back, ribbing of good length but still to develop, short loin and firm croup. Pleasing head with length, moderate stop, leathers set on low, dark eyes and he’s well pigmented. He needs to fill in forechest but he has plenty of time on his side, however he has a pleasing action on the down and back. On the go around he went pretty well but was out-moved by 1. Well handled.

1. Isherwood & Lynn’s Bygorri Guggenheim with Afterglow (Imp Esp) Naf Taf. 14 mth old white who I thought something quite special and he was a delight hands on. All male, carrying good bone, he presented a super outline with good length of neck with some arch to add style, short firm back, good depth to brisket and ribbing extends well back, short in the couplings, firm croup and tail just right for set and carriage. Masculine headpiece which is clean, dark expressive almond-shaped eyes, leathers just right for set and length, well defined chin, tight lips, excellent pigmentation and scissor bite. Well angulated front and rear, clean through the elbows, stands true in front on the best of feet, well developed in forechest and most impressive hindquarters with such good muscle-tone. Quite something on the go around, opening up well with seemingly effortless gait, yet driving so well from the rear and he has excellent carriage. Harsh textured coat and presented in first class order. CC.

2. Foster & Irving’s Kamarri Smart Alec. 14 mth old black who presented a pleasing outline with neck of good length to balance, short back, muscular loin, correct croup and tail set on just right. Head gives impression of length, expressive eyes of good colour, leathers set on low, definite chin and scissor bite. Could stand a little tidier in front but he has nice tight feet and pleased for forechest too. Muscular hindquarters with more rear angulation. He pleased on the go around and is true when going away but not quite as accurate coming towards. Good texture to coat and pleasing presentation.

PGD (3,1)

1. Colton’s Sachemic's You're A Wizard. 2 yr old black who was a comfortable winner here for me. Solid and with pleasing bone he presented a nicely balanced outline with good length of neck, short back, well-muscled loin, correct croup and tail set on well although could be carried a touch straighter. Attractive headpiece with masculine expression, moderate stop, dark almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low, foreface well chiselled and scissor bite. He stands nice and straight in front with tight feet and pleased in forechest too. Moving freely on the down and back and although could open up a touch more when viewed in profile, he went better than 2.

2. Rumming’s Druavella Purple Finan. 20 mth black out of a bigger mould than the winner and was very well handled here. Muscular neck of good length, short back, pretty good ribbing but croup could be firmer. Masculine head and expression with leathers of good length and set on low, moderate stop, defined chin and good dentition but overall preferred expression of 1. Standing on good feet and goes ok on the go around but winner scored when gaiting overall. Good texture to coat.

1. Wilson & Hall’s Niaveera See What Lies Ahead JW. Quality black of 19 mths. He was so good hands on and I thought him an excellent type and he presented a beautifully balanced outline. Neck of good length, lovely short back with characteristic hollow, super ribbing and depth to brisket, short muscular loin, excellent croup and tail good for both set and carriage. Most attractive head with masculine expression; correct skull, moderate stop, almond-shaped eyes of good colour, leathers set on just as they should be, chiselling to foreface and well defined chin. Soundly constructed all through, standing true in front on nice tight feet and will a pleasing forechest. When gaiting, he was clean on the down and back and opened up well when viewed in profile and he has excellent carriage. Good quality coat and presentation and so very well handled. RCC.

OD (2,1)

1. Coates’ Jaspalie Ghost. 6 yr old white. Solid lad, carrying good bone and pleasing to go over. Super neck, short in the back, good depth to brisket, ribbing carried well back, well-muscled loin, excellent croup and tail just right for set and carriage. Pleasing head and expression; almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low, chiselling to foreface, definite chin, nice dark pigmentation and correct dentition. He stands nice and straight in front on pretty good feet and is well developed in forechest. He is true when going away and has plenty of drive but front action could be more positive and this also reflects on the go around. Good texture to coat.

VD (1,0)

1. Bedwell’s Vicmars Smart Fella. 8 yr old black with pleasing bone. He has a good length of neck, is nice and short in back with firm topline, deep in chest, short in the couplings, has an excellent croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Head gives impression of length, eyes of good colour but a little rounder perhaps due to age, leathers set on correctly, pleasing chiselling, definite chin and good dentition. Straight forelegs but feet could be tighter. On the move, he pleased on the down and back but would have liked a little more extension in front on the go around. Super temperament and he was well handled here. Best Veteran.

PB (5,1)

1. Coates’ Afterglow Luminary with Angelsam. The first two in this class appealed with this 12 mth old white coming out on top and I thought her quite lovely. She has the best of temperaments and was so good to get hands on. Super outline with neck of good length, short strong back, good depth to chest, ribbing just right for age, muscular loin, firm croup and tail spot on for set and carriage. Most delightful head and expression, full of femininity, dark almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on as they should be and of good length, chiselled foreface, definite chin, lovely dark pigment and scissor bite. Good angles both front and rear and she stands on correct feet. A delight on the go around with super carriage and so very well handled. Adorable temperament. Best Puppy.

2. Geeson & Nugent’s Janavons Star of The Sea. 9 mth old black who also has so much to like but she wasn’t quite as confident on the day as the winner. She is so good in outline with a long clean neck, nice and short in the back, ribcage of good length, broad well-muscled loin, firm in croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good length, expressive almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low, chiselling developing nicely, good underjaw and dentition. Shoulders well laid and she stands well in front and muscular hindquarters with well turned stifles. Moving freely all through with very good carriage. Good coat and presentation.

3. Geeson & Nugent’s Janavons Midnight Melody

JB (4,2)

1. Steinert’s Magaro Megan (Imp Esp) Naf Taf. Balanced black of 12 mths with pleasing bone and very well presented. Excellent neck, short firm back, ribbing developing well, good croup and tail set on pretty well. Attractive head with feminine expression; good length with pleasing eye, leathers of correct set, chiselling to foreface, definite chin and correct dentition. She has good angulation front and rear and stands on very good feet. She went ok on the down and back and scored in this class on the go around as well as her self-assured attitude and confident carriage. Coat of good texture and well presented.

2. McLoughlin’s Zantescwtch Nordic Flame. 14 mth old red out of a larger mould than the winner. Neck of good length, pretty good topline, tad more length to loin and therefore not quite as balanced in outline as 1, firm croup and tail set on well. Head of good length with nice dark eyes, leathers set on low, lovely dark pigmentation and correct dentition. She stands on nice tight feet and moved out pretty well on the go around and she has pleasing carriage. Well handled here but preferred overall expression and balance of winner.

PGB (9,6)

1. Irving & Fountain’s Volgarus Fun Fair. Rather varied class which saw this 21 mth old black come out on top. She pleased for overall type, has good bone and is full of femininity. Neck of good length, pretty good topline, ribbing carries well back, firm croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with expressive almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low, chiselled foreface and definite chin. Pleasing angulation front and rear and she stands on good feet but would like a better developed forechest. On the go around she scored in this class with good extension and self carriage.

2. Hutchins’ Outflash A Shot in The Dark with Parcheeni. 2 yr old black out of a smaller mould than the winner. Muscular neck of good length, short back with correct topline, pleasing rib, firm in croup and tail set on well. Pleasing head and expression with almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low and well defined chin. Good angles front and rear, she has nice straight forelegs, stands on very good feet and is well muscled all through. Goes well on the go around with good carriage but winner just had the edge. Good texture to coat.

3. Elson’s Volgarus Make A Choice at Jomarnelli

LB (2,1)

1. Dennison & Hoblin’s Kertellas Diamond Sky at Labamba JW. 23 mth old black standing alone here but more than worthy of company. She was good hands on and I thought her so good for type and she pleased for bone too. Muscular neck of good length to give balance, short back, ribbing well sprung, deep brisket, well-muscled loin, correct croup and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Most attractive head and expression and certainly ‘full of fire’; leathers set on just right, moderate stop, chiselled foreface, definite chin and scissor bite. Soundly built all through, standing true in front on nice tight feet and with a pleasing forechest. On the down and back she moved cleanly and also appealed on the go around and has super carriage. Excellent coat and very well handled. Considered for the RCC.

OB (3,0)

1. Moores, Speakman & Lynn’s Ch Sachemic Mischief Managed with Afterglow JW. Two super blacks headed this class with the nod going to this 2 yr old. Quality all through, she was a pleasure to go over and presented here in excellent coat and handled to perfection. Full of femininity and excelling for type, she presented just the outline I was looking for giving the impression of being short and tall. Muscular neck of good length, short back with characteristic hollow, first class ribbing, depth to brisket, broad muscular loin, excellent croup and tail just right for set and carriage. Quality headpiece; expressive almond-shaped eyes which are ‘full of fire’, leathers of good length and set on low, chiselling to foreface, defined chin and scissor bite. She stands well naturally in front on lovely tight feet and is pleasing in forechest too. When gaiting, she is accurate on the down and back and quite something to watch on the go around, opening up well with excellent carriage. CC & BOB and delighted to see her later top the Group and the next day be rewarded with Reserve Best in Show.

2. Wells’ Ch Volgarus Consider The Lily. This 3 yr old is another girl full of quality and so good hands on. Totally balanced with good length of neck, short firm back, well sprung ribs, good depth to chest, muscular loins, correct croup and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Super headpiece with good length, expressive almond-shaped eyes, leathers set on low and of good length, moderate stop, well chiselled foreface and good underjaw. Soundly constructed all through, nice straight forelegs which are well boned, standing on tight feet and firm, muscular hindquarters with well bent stifles. Gaiting freely fore and aft and she also went so well on the go around with excellent drive from the rear and such good carriage. Quality coat and presentation. Has such good presence, as did the winner. RCC.
