Retriever (Chesapeake Bay)

PGD (1,0)

1. Jackson’s Oakmarsh Locksley. 18 mth old brown who is quite immature and therefore needs time to fill out. Neck of moderate length, firm through the topline, ribbed well back, good croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Head of good proportions, ears set on well, correct planes, pointed muzzle and scissor bite. Looks somewhat higher on the leg right now but he stands true in front on correct feet and moved pretty well all through. Harsh oily outer coat. Handler just needs a little more ring experience.

LD (1,0)

1. Royle’s Battsrock Are You Ready. 3 yr old brown who carries good bone and presented a pleasing outline with neck of correct length to balance, excellent topline, good depth to brisket and correct underline. Masculine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, ears set on well, eyes a little rounder but good colour, pointed muzzle and scissor bite. He stands pretty well in front and has a good forechest but was somewhat restricted on the go around and tail carriage could be better. Good quality coat with woolly undercoat.

1. Mahon-Hunns, Hunns & Newton’s Sh Ch Arnac Bay Huron at Bergelle JW. 6 yr old brown who very much appealed. All male, carrying good bone and substance and presenting a super balanced outline. Muscular neck of medium length, firm through the topline, chest of good depth, first class ribbing, well-muscled loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Good skull to muzzle proportions and planes, excellent eye and ear, pointed muzzle and scissor bite. Soundly constructed both front and rear, well developed forechest and stands on such good feet. Moves freely on the down and back and opened up well on the go around. Characteristic oily coat of excellent texture. Best Dog & BOB.

2. Hayes’ Sh Ch Tideflight Floki. 3 yr old brown who is very different to the winner for overall type and build but he has plenty to like. He is nicely balanced with muscular neck, correct in topline with hindquarters slightly higher than withers, deep brisket, firm loin but with a tad more length, pleasing underline and tail good for set and carriage. Nicely balanced head with masculine expression; good eye and ear and moderate stop. He stands well naturally in front, elbows are close to the chest and he has correct feet. Moves well when coming towards and goes pretty well on the go around but rear action could not match that of winner. Reserve Best Dog.

PGB (1,0)

1. Watts’ Oakmarsh Little Acorn JW Ratn. 18 mth old brown. Feminine throughout with moderate bone and needing to fill out but she has time on her side. Neck of moderate length, level topline, good length to ribcage and tail pleased for set and carriage. Good skull to muzzle proportions, ears set on well, eyes of correct colour and good dentition. Right now she is somewhat lacking in forechest and this reflects when she’s coming towards but she pleased in hind angulation and gait. Fair action on the go around. Good texture to outercoat but undercoat rather sparse at the present time.

1. Pont’s Amore of Ridsome (Imp Ita). 4 yr old brown. Moderately built girl who is feminine throughout and pleasing to go over. Correct length of neck to balance, firm in topline, good depth to chest, short muscular loin and good underline. Head of good proportions but would like a touch more breadth to skull, pleasing eye and ear and moderate stop. She stands nice and straight in front on correct feet and is well developed in forechest. Pleasing action on the down and back and goes pretty well on the go around but tail carried a little higher than preferred. Excellent coat with oily feel and very good undercoat. Very well handled. Best Bitch.

2. Watts’ Oakmarsh Galatea. 6 yr old brown who carries very nice bone and presented a pleasing outline. Muscular neck of moderate length, firm topline, well-developed ribs and deep brisket. Feminine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, expressive eyes, ok in ear and moderate stop. She stands nice and straight in front but with a little more width and accentuated by the fact that she’s carrying more weight than the ideal right now. Very good feet and pleasing turn of stifle. On the go around she opens up well but tail carried a little higher. Good quality coat with harsh oily texture. Reserve Best Bitch.

3. Capps’ Oakmarsh Indian Dream Maker

GCB (1,0)

1. Watts’ Oakleaf Manor Bay of Oakmarsh JW (Imp Deu). 4 yr old sedge who is at the top end of the standard for a bitch and for her build I would have liked more bone and substance. She has a good length of neck, is firm through the topline, ribbing extends well back and her tail is set and carried correctly. Nicely proportioned head with feminine expression; ears set on well and correct pointed muzzle. I would like to see more forechest but she stands straight enough. Pleasing action on the go around and has good carriage. Very good texture to coat.
