It was a real joy to judge the breed today, a numerically good entry of the highest quality in every class and I would have happily given out multiple CCs - my congratulations to the breeders. Vallhunds for me are energetic, alert, sturdy dogs who give the impression of concentrated power in a smallish frame; substance and bone have really improved, as have proportions, and there were fewer high hocks than the last time I judged. Thank you to my two lovely stewards who kept the ring running with great efficiency and to the exhibitors who were so sporting. I was left in no doubt that it was a crowning CC for the bitch, the loudest cheer went up! What super ringside support for every class and especially this exhibitor, congratulations to everyone and thank you for your entries.

Male of good size and substance, masculine well balanced head, flat between the ears, dark eyes, a touch round, correct mask markings, good reach of neck, front could be tidier, well-proportioned body and firm topline, clean harness markings, moved soundly, well handled.

2nd: CHAPLAIN, Mrs Sandra & CHAPLAIN, Dr Roland Ruserns Riff Raff

Not quite as well boned as 1 and could be more sturdily built all through, liked the balance of his skull and muzzle, good reach of neck, well ribbed with a firm topline, active mover and held a good topline.

Very nicely proportioned and sturdy with it, good head developing, liked his strength of muzzle and underjaw, tight lips, dark eyes, correct ears, strong neck, well boned, strong in loin and well angled, moved very well once settled, charming energetic character BP

2nd: SIMPSON, Mr G D & SIMPSON, Mrs L C Danga's Sverker Jamesson Of Vallholme (Swed Imp)

Nicely balanced dog, lovely expression from dark, medium size oval eyes, well-shaped head, strong neck, well-placed shoulders, well boned, broad rear, hocks of correct length, free moving, a lovely prospect, just needs time to gain a little more confidence and fill his frame.

Really sturdy dog all through and balanced, still dark in mask and markings, strong head, ears a little small, well boned with tight oval feet, good height to length ratio, well developed chest and very strong loin with slightly sloping croup, sound mover.

Super youngster with substance and good size, excellent ratios and outline, strong bone, well-knuckled oval feet. Balanced, clean wedge head with appealing defined mask, strength to muzzle, firm in body, reachy neck, well laid shoulders with correct prosternum, well ribbed, short in loin, hard coat, elbows tight fitting, good reach and active hind thrust, RCC, a very bright future ahead.

Very well proportioned and stocky, masculine wedge head, well-shaped flat skull, good ears, strength to jaw, well boned right down to the feet, correct oval shaped chest, well developed but not overdone, good leg length, strong neck and firm topline, muscular loin, well bent stifles and short hocks, comes into his own on the move, tight elbows, very mobile in front with powerful hind action, hard coat, markings well defined, really appealing mask which lights up his face, CC in strong company.

2nd: ELLIS, Mrs Kirsty Kimaroff's Sidney

Mature, well-made dog with good strength all through, has a tendency to stand a little wide in front at times, good bone and substance, well balanced head, dark oval eyes, strong neck, well developed chest and good ribbing, firm loins, holds a good outline on the move, close-fitting harsh coat, active mover, well-carried tail.

3rd: JONES, Mr K M A Valltineya Red Redemption

Lovely red boy with a very balanced outline, appealing mask and head shape, alert expression, strong neck of good length, firm topline, well ribbed, short strong loin. Moved out freely, strong hindquarters and hocks, only 3rd today as I felt that he currently lacked the masculinity of the other two - he's young and it's a slow maturing breed, really smart dog with lots more to come from him.

1st: Danga’s Norton Junkerson in Galerita (Imp Swe) NAF TAF.

Judged him as a puppy and thought he was most impressive then, he’s matured beautifully, strongly built, clean wedge head, strength to slightly shorter jaw, defined stop, muscular good length of neck, correct proportions with sturdy loin, muscular hindquarters , low hocks, oval well knuckled feet, clear harness markings and harsh coat, a great Ch, I wish I had more CCs, not quite the active freedom when moving of the CC/RCC today, it really was splitting hairs.

2nd: 5814 STRONG, Mr M & Mrs J & CLINTON, Miss A Ch Ohanaway Having A Blast At Mackjama

Quality dog, gave him a RCC as a youngster, very worthy ch of good size and substance, balanced head with good expression, medium well carried ears, strong neck of length, well-laid shoulders, stands on good feet, solid rear with good hind thrust, touch longer in loin than 1.

Super for type, well proportioned, defined mask and harness, clean wedge head, well used medium ears, nice oval front and well boned down to his feet, tight elbows, well angulated with muscular thighs and low hocks, nice stocky body, good in chest and rib, liked his size and balance, high tailset, pushed hard in the challenge, I would have been pleased to have given him a CC, wears his crown with pride.

Lovely puppy with much potential, clean outline, defined harness markings, good proportions, pretty mask markings setting off her well-shaped head, dark oval eyes, lovely reach of neck, good forequarters, elbows fitting, well ribbed back, short loin and slight tuck up, strong oval feet, moved freely, good forward reach, firm hind action, promises very well for the future.

2nd: DODD, Mr R & Mrs D Tanellis Dare To Love

Another nice p, slightly longer cast, with maturity will fill for better balance, very nice front, lovely lay of shoulder with shorter upper arm, good for size and bone, nice reach of neck, firm backline, correct croup, low hocks, good thigh development, free mover, sound in rear, confident and alert.

Just right for her age, clean wedge head, expressive oval eyes, ears well carried, muzzle strong and slightly shorter than skull, good underjaw, well-angled front with forechest, nice length of neck, level topline, well ribbed, strong loin, broad croup and well set tail, good rear angles and low hocks, energetic free and driving movement, very alert throughout, lots more to come from her.

At that in-between stage of maturity, feminine, wedge-shaped head, oval eyes, medium wel- placed ears which were well used, tight lips, well boned with good feet, strong neck, well-angled shoulder, ribs well sprung, slight tuck up and high tailset, well developed thighs, low hocks, easy mover.

Absolutely commanded the ring, totally balanced, full of breed type, combines substance and femininity with a beautiful mask and dark expressive oval eyes. Presents a very clean and strong outline, well-muscled and angled and moved smoothly as one piece, lovely freedom in front with hind thrust, minimal uplift, loved her width in rear and low hocks, on top form today. I was delighted to award her a crowning CC with BOB and absolutely thrilled when I found out I had given her a RCC at 9 months of age, I wrote then that she had so much potential, I was delighted I found her again today in this quality entry.

2nd: PALLATINA, Miss Lynn Valltineya Lasso Ur Dreams JW

A quality girl who was unlucky to meet 1 on top form, not as mature. Well-marked red, loved her attitude, well-balanced, typey, feminine head with strength to muzzle, flat skull, marked stop, uses ears well, strong neck and good front assembly, well boned, well made in body, short muscular loin, tail set high and full tail well carried, very good on the move, her day will come.

Nothing flashy about this girl, she appealed for her lovely honest type and proportions. Feminine head with strength and width to skull and muzzle, tight lips, well boned with well knuckled tight feet, very nicely marked, harsh coat, strong reach of neck, lovely balanced angulation, long chest, well ribbed with strong short loin, level topline, well bent stifles and muscled thighs, short hocks, tail well set and carried, moved soundly, RCC.

2nd: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I Ch Starvon Fame Awaits For Izlou JW

Slightly finer than 1, shapely head, medium oval eyes, very alert expression and never stopped showing, clean wedge head, well set ears, well angled, firm topline, slight tuck up, correct tailset, defined mask and harness markings, moved very soundly and expertly handler, I’d just like a little more of her all through.

Super show girl, quality Ch, fully mature, sturdy but very feminine, comes into her own on the move, very well balanced with a strong neck of good length, very pretty head and mask, alert expression, very smooth to go over with a good front, depth of chest, length of rib and short loin, firm topline, liked her 2:3 ratios, tight feet, pushed hard for a green card and easy to see why she is a ch, close decision against her little brother in the BV challenge, she scored in movement, BV.
