Golden Retriever bitches

Judge: Susanna Zubair

I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge at this lovely show, thank you also to my fabulous stewards Andy and Sue Foreman for the help on the day. I had a beautiful entry of quality Golden Retriever girls to judge and was spoilt for choice in many of the classes where wished I had more than one first price card.

I had a handful of girls that carried too much weight and a couple of untidy mouths. I was a bit concerned to see quite a few exhibits in the younger classes with short upper arms and lack of fore chest giving them a terrier like front.

My co-judge Mr Frederik Kien-Hansen and I were in full agreement for the dog Sh Ch Linirgor Tomich JW to go Best of breed and to award Best puppy to the bitch puppy Weisford born of the sea to Chinnordale, both were short listed in their respective groups.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS (7,4a)

1st HARDING & START’S, Eveninghill Home By The Sea, Lovely balance on this short coupled mid gold girl, well-shaped head with a dark kind eye, excellent pigment, Good length of neck and well placed shoulders, correct length of upperarm placing her straight front legs well under her body, good forechest & well sprung rib cage, short through the loin, good angulation behind with short strong hocks, moves really nicely holding her topline, just a tad too proud of her tail which affected her placing in her later class.

2nd SEARLE’S, Astleyfold Snowy Bell, Larger and more scopey type of bitch presented in lovely cream coat, Sweet head with a dark eye and pigment, Excellent length of neck and good layback of shoulder, well balanced front and rear angulation, well boned legs, slightly longer in the loin than my winner which affected her topline at times, moves well, presentation and handling was first class.
