Blackpool & District Canine Society

Breed: Tibetan Terrier

I enjoyed my appointment, but have some ongoing concerns about the breed at present. Size is an issue for many exhibits, but this is only 1 fault, and I am more concerned about construction faults. There are too many exhibits that are very upright in shoulder, and a high number of the dogs are short in rib & long in loin. This is a square breed, but the rib cage should always be longer than the loin, not the other way around. No dog is perfect, and all our dogs have faults, but we should be breeding to the standard as much as possible. The body under the coat is extremely important, a TT is more than just a well presented coat. On a positive note, I found most exhibits had the correct large flat foot, and most had well set & carried tails.

Minor Puppy Dog (2/2)

1ST James-Collins & Collins’s REMMUS UNDER MY SPELL Black & White. Lovely head with correct bite. Well bodied but could be a bit shorter in loin. Moved steadily but still needs to tighten up fore & aft. Correct feet and good tail set & carriage. In good coat. Promising youngster.

2ND Laffling’s TAXIKI CAUSIN’ CHAOS Black & White. Lovely head. Could also be a bit shorter in loin. Correct feet and good tail set & carriage. In good, well presented coat. Moved steadily, just preferred the overall balance of 1. Another promising baby.

Puppy Dog (2/2)

1ST Pettit’s ROGSPA'S GOT YER BACK Black & White boy, hopefully has stopped growing. Head & body still developing. Good head carriage. In good well presented coat for age. Good tail set & carriage. Moved steadily.

2ND Mell’s KARAMYST SHOW OFF Heavily made Gold Sable & White boy who has hopefully stopped growing. Strongly made throughout. Head in proportion to body, eye could be darker. Correct feet. Good tail set & carriage. Heavily coated. Gave his owner a hard time & did not move to his best advantage.

Junior Dog (5/4)

1ST Vernall’s RENVALL’S NEON LEON Black youngster with lovely head & expression. Correct size. Short coupled. Reasonable front angulation. Correct feet and good tail set & carriage. Profusely coated which hides his shape, but he is balanced throughout. Steady, sound & balanced on the move.
