Yorkshire Bulldog Club Championship Show

Many thanks to the Yorkshire Bulldog Club for inviting me to judge their 125 year anniversary show and to all the exhibitors who entered their dogs. Although happy with my principal winners my attention was drawn to the overall quality of the dogs. As mentioned previously there is no questioning that health has improved significantly. However, I feel the breed is lacking in depth of quality. I would also like to highlight; it is basic animal husbandry to keep dogs clean; I was upset to see many dirty exhibits.

Baby Puppy Dog (3, 0Abs)

1st) George's Avaword Dewi – Red/White, 4 month old, standard short compact puppy, strong head with pleasing flat skull, dark clear eyes well set apart, open nostrils, strong bone to tight feet with good front, nice barrel of rib and a healthy free tail. BBPD

2nd) Ogden’s Rosebulls Tiger Stripes – Brindle/White, 4 month old, a little heavier in head than 1, clear dark eyes, good ears, nice straight bone to good feet, a little tight in front and lacking the brisket of 1, enough rib and health free tail.

3rd) Bond’s Kenbloom Denethor.

Baby Puppy Bitch (7, 0Abs)

1st) Sibbick’s Treasurabull’s Ice Queen – White, 4 month old, beautiful standard puppy presented in immaculate condition, lovely clean head with well-placed rose shaped ears, clear dark round eyes well set apart, good pigmentation, good nose with open nostrils, true jaw, pleasing front with good bone to tight feet, lovely arch of neck, good rib and desired topline, moved well. BBPB & BBPIS

2nd) Bannister, Kirkwood & Peebles Andlare Eenie Meanie - Brindle/White, 4 month old strong standard puppy, good brick head, well set rose shaped ears, dark round eyes, good nose and mouth, lovely straight bone to good feet, pleasing brisket, enough neck, preferred topline of 1, good tail and tail set, moved well.

3rd) Manders Erimusbulls Bridgettebardo.

Minor Puppy Dog (9, 2Abs)

1st) Young’s Chayo Stir It Up At Garsak – White/Brindle Patch, 7 month old standard pup, with a beautiful headpiece, broad flat skull with well set thin rosed shaped ears, dark clear eyes set well apart, well placed nose with open nostrils, good width of true jaw, plenty bone to tight feet with a well let down brisket, short compact body with good rib and topline along with a well-set tail of good length. Well angulated moved well and I was delighted to award him BPD & BPIS

2nd) Ellis-Payne’s Chayo What About Me – Brindle/White, 7 month old, lovely broad flat skull with well-placed rose shaped ears, dark clear eyes set well apart, big black nose with open nostrils, good width of true jaw, good bone to tight feet with a well let down brisket, a little longer in body than 1 with enough rib, pleasing topline, tail and tail set, moved well.

3rd) Brown’s Asharlo Jumpin’ Jack Flash.

Puppy Dog (5, 0Abs)

1st ) Jackarhys Unwritten - Red/White, 9 month old, standard puppy with lovely clean flat skull, well set thin rose ears, clear dark round eyes, good nose with open nostrils, nice turn and fit of jaw, good straight bone to nice feet, well let down brisket, enough neck, good rib tail and set, hard to assess his movement as he was full of energy and made it hard for his handler.

2nd) Watkins Chayo The Magician – Red/White, 11 month old, strong broad head with split nose roll, darkest of eyes, well place ears, good turn and fit of jaw, good bone neat feet, not the brisket of 1, enough rib, free healthy tail well set, moved well.

3rd) Wesse’s Yakuza Sexy Bully.

Junior Dog (6, 1Abs)

1st) Lee's Mellowmood I'm a Lucky Man - White/Red 13 month old, pleasing clean brick-shaped head of good proportions, well-set rose shaped ears, clear dark eyes, good true jaw, well rounded cheeks, good nose placement, well cushioned foreface strong bone to good feet with a well let down brisket, well arched shoulders, good rib, desired topline leading to a well set healthy tail, moved well.

2nd) Bellerby’s Jaybelabee Apollo – White/Red 12 month old, beautiful large brick shaped head with well set rose shaped ears, dark clear round eyes, big black nose, good width and turn of jaw, well cushioned foreface, giving lovely expression, great bone to good feet, nice brisket, not quite the rib of 1 and slightly longer, moved well.

3rd) Avison & Ainsworth’s Rosielolas Henry The Eighth at Boltonbully (naf).

Novice Dog (1, 1Abs)

Graduate Dog (3, 1Abs)

1st) Cradock’s Okamiesons Duke Cheston At Suluma – Red/White, standard dog with a little too much work in his head, broad flat skull, well-set ears, clear dark round eyes well set apart, good nose, good width of jaw, good bone to tight feet ample brisket and enough rib, good topline, moved well.

2nd) Goodwin’s Britishpride Who Dares – White, with a large flat skull, rose shaped ears set on side of broad head, good nose with open nostrils, good turn of jaw, strong straight bone to good feet, ample brisket, a little longer than 1 with not the rib, good free healthy well set tail, moved well.

Post Graduate Dog (4, 1Abs)

1st) Allen’s Jabybull Valentino Rossi At Rattray – Red/White, good brick shaped head with well-placed rose shaped ears, clear dark round eyes, good nose, open nostrils, nice turn and fit of jaw, strong bone to neat feet, deep brisket and enough rib, cast a little long with good set of tail, moved well.

2nd) Braso’s Blenhiemstar City Limit – Red/White, shorter standard male, broad flat skull with ears set on side, dark eyes and good mouth, straight bone to good feet, not the brisket or rib of 1, moved well.

3rd) Rodgers Ruakuri The Protector.

Limit Dog (8, 3Abs)

1st) Taylor’s Hillplace Dead Ringer – Brindle/White, broad flat skull with well set thin rosed shaped ears, lovely dark clear eyes set well apart. Well-placed nose with open nostrils, good width of jaw that was true, well-rounded cheeks giving lovely expression, good bone to tight feet with a well let down brisket, enough rib, pleading topline and well-set tail of good length, well angulated, moved well.

2nd) Paul’s Blondello’s Doctor Strange – Red/White, strong brick-shaped head, rose-shaped ears set on side of broad skull, clear round dark eyes, good nose and open nostrils, excellent width and turn of true jaw, strong bone to good feet, deep brisket and plenty rib, good topline, went well on the move.

3rd) Cradock’s Sulma King Edward

Open Dog (10, 4Abs)

1st) Eaton’s: Ch. Ricatori Reimagined - Red /White strong male shown in immaculate, hard condition, large broad flat head with correct placement of ears, clear round dark eyes set wide apart, correct nose with open nostrils, nose roll sits slightly back from the tip of the nose not interfering with the layback, well-rounded cheeks, excellent width of true underjaw, well-cushioned foreface and plenty padding to cheeks, strong straight bone to tight feet, well let down brisket, desired reach of neck and correct lay of shoulder, nicely ribbed dog with good topline held on the move and a healthy well set tail, moved correctly both going and coming and handled very well. Delighted to award him DCC/BOB

2nd) Cezar’s Multi Ch Why Not Babynou Bull – Red/White standard dog with a lot of similarities to 1, pleasing head piece but not the strength of 1, rose shaped ears set on side of head, clear dark eyes, good nose, well-cushioned foreface and padded cheeks, good bone and feet, pleasing brisket along with rib and topline, healthy tail, moved and handled well. RDCC

3rd) Watkins Shipshape Shining Star.

Minor Puppy Bitch (7, 2Abs)

1st) Ellis-Payne’s Chayo Sweet Surrender – Red Brindle/White, 8 month old, cobby, feminine bitch with thin rose-shaped ears set on side of clean flat skull, lovely clear dark round eyes set well apart, open nostrils and good width and fit of true underjaw. Good bone to tight feet, deep brisket and plenty rib, pleasing topline, healthy tail well set, moved well. BPB

2nd) Cezar’s You Are The Babynoubull From Sexy Bully – Red/White, 6 month old, clean feminine head, ears set on side of a flat skull, clear round dark eyes well set apart, open nostrils, good width and turn of true jaw, good bone to tight feet, pleasing brisket and rib, longer in back than one, good topline, not the tail of 1, moved well.

3rd) Mayes Blenhiemstar’s Legacy at Pectus

2nd) Kent’s Mystyle The Dutchess At Underdadero – Red/White, 11 month old, standard puppy, strong head, thin rose ears well placed, dark round eyes, good nose with open nostrils, nice jaw with good turn and fit, straight bone down to neat feet, good rib and topline, carrying a little too much weight, moved well.

3rd) Carlisle’s Julie Von Teufelhohle at Valhallabull (Imp HUN).

Junior Bitch (6, 2Abs)

1st) Sibbick’s The Crown Of The Bulldog Taylor Swift At Treasurabull (Imp ESP) – White/Red, 16 month old, short compact feminine bitch with a lovely brick shaped head, skull is broad and flat, correctly place rose-shaped ears, lovely dark round eyes well set apart, well-rounded cheeks, good nose that is well positioned, open nostrils, good width turn and fit of underjaw, well-cushioned foreface giving lovely sour expression, plenty bone to tight feet, good depth of brisket and plenty barrel of rib, pleasing topline, good set of tail, well angulated, shown in immaculate condition moved and handled well.

2nd) Hanley’s Blenhiemstar I’m On Fire – White/Red, 17 month old strong headed bitch, well place thin rose-shaped ears, dark eyes, good nose with split nose roll, fantastic width and turn of true jaw, good bone to tight feet, pleasing brisket and barrel of rib, moved well.

3rd) Mayes Blenhiemstar Proud Mary Pectus.

Novice Bitch (3, 2Abs)

1st) Cizek’s Kiritokia Tomairangi Bohemiapride – White/Red, standard girl with clen head good rose shapes ears, round clear eyes could be darker, good nose, good fit and turn of underjaw, enough brisket, bone and rib, moved well.

Graduate Bitch (7, 3Abs)

1st) Goodwin’s Britishpride Flora Gucci – White/Red, standard bitch, brick-shaped head of excellent proportions, correctly placed thin rose-shaped ears, clear dark round eyes, well-placed nose with open nostrils, well-rounded cheeks, lovely expression, plenty bone to tight feet, good brisket, short in back with a large barrel of rib, lovely pear shape body when viewed from above, pleasing topline, tail and tail set, moved well. RBCC

2nd) Rodgers Blenhiemstar Aces High At Belushi – Red/White, large broad head with good well-set ears, clear dark eyes set well apart, pleasing width fit and turn of underjaw, ample bone, good brisket with enough rib, slightly longer in back than 1, good topline and set of tail, moved well.

3rd) Jordon’s Ironjacks Fat Bottomed Girl at Souterbull.

Post Graduate Bitch (9, 3 Abs)

1st) Moody’s Bulldurham Phoenix – Red/White, standard bitch with a lovely brick shaped head, well set rose-shaped ears, lovely dark round eyes well set apart, well-rounded cheeks, we;; placed nose with open nostrils, good width turn and fit of underjaw, plenty of bone to tight feet, deep brisket and plenty of rib, correct topline, good set of tail, moved well.

2nd) New’s Kelloe Sweet Caroline At Newrock – Fawn/White, strong head, broad flat skull, rose shaped ears set correctly on the side of head, clear dark eyes, good width turn and fit of jaw, plenty of bone to tight feet, pleasing topline leading to a free healthy tail, shown in immaculate condition, moved OK.

3rd) Connelly & Wiltshire Ladymere The Beauty Bybel.

Limit Bitch (14, 9Abs)

1st) Bland & McElligot's Kingrock Jemima Puddleduck with Leximus - Red/White standard feminine bitch with pleasing clean head, flat skull with well-placed rose shaped ears dark round eyes, good nose and mouth, straight bone to neat feet, good brisket and enough rib, goods topline, well set healthy tail, moved well.

2nd) Mayes’s Blenhiemstar Royal Flush At Pectus – Red/White, strong head, well set rose shaped ears, clear dark eyes set well apart, good width and turn of underjaw, good bone, brisket, rib and topline, short compact with good tail, moved well.

3rd) Goddard’s Katie Taylor for Kianspuchi (IKC).

Open Bitch (11, 5Abs)

1st) Speakman’s Ryadjobe Stir it Up – Red/White, strong bitch shown in great condition, brick-shaped head, thin rose-shaped ears set on either side of flat skull, clear dark round eyes well set apart, correctly placed big black nose with open nostrils, full nose roll sitting slightly back from the tip of the nose with no interference to layback, well-rounded cheeks, pleasing turn and fit of underjaw with well-padded foreface giving lovely expression, correct lay of shoulder, ample bone to tight feet, well let down brisket, good barrel of rib, correct topline and set of free healthy tail, moved and handled well . 2nd) Mayes’s Ragmarte Daiquiri At Pectus – Red/White, clean brick shaped head, correctly placed ears, clear dark round eyes set well apart, good nose and nostrils, correct fit and turn of underjaw with good width, enough bone and nice tight feet, deep brisket and plenty rib, correct topline, moved well.

3rd) Allen’s Haddaway Dizzy Lizzy at Rattray.

Veteran Dog/Bitch (8, 4Abs)

Bellerby’s Jaybelabee Snow White – White standard 7 year old bitch, lovely brick-shaped head, clear dark eyes, well-placed ears, good wide jaw, well off for bone, well let down brisket, plenty of rib and correct topline, health free tail, moved very well. BV

2nd) Hanley’s Ragmarte Middle Earth At Blenhiemstar – Red/White 9 year old bitch, clean head with pleasing and correct proportions, ears correctly placed, good underjaw, plenty of bone to tight feet, deep brisket, rib and topline.

3rd) Paul’s Blondello Charles Xavier.
