Chihuahua Club of South Wales Championship Show

23-2-25

A lovely day spent judging at the clubs 50th Anniversary Show, and so honoured to firstly be invited, and secondly, for the super entry of 116(128) dogs. Thank you to the very hard working committee, for putting on a great day, with lots of gifts and prizes for the main winners, and goody bags galore. Thank you for your hospitality and gifts, and to my stewards, Pauline, Michelle and Kacey-Leigh, for keeping all running smoothly. All lent itself to an enjoyable atmosphere, despite the horrendous rainfall happening outside. I have to say a special thank you to the exhibitors, many of whom submitted multiple entries, and for which was much appreciated. The quality was high in some classes, and much varied in others. One or two need more table training and confidence, but I also appreciate can be easily upset, which has knock on effects for future shows, so a fine balance between exhibitor and judge is ideal.

Minor Puppy Dog 8 (1)

1st. Jones, Mrs P, Flickan Faraway. Smart showy red and white youngster. Overall quality boy with good construction and well put together. Head still developing with correct ear set. In good coat for a baby. Moved with precision, which won him his 1st place. 2nd. Ms C Tan. El Diablo Right Royal. Another smart boy with a good shape and nicely assembled. Carries a level topline. Finely boned. Sweet enough head. Performed well.

Puppy Dog 6 (1)

1st. Mrs C Edwards. Chibull Vanilla Ice. Very nice cream boy maturing well for his age and in good coat. Good dentition. Attractive head, would prefer a slightly bigger eye. Good body, moving well, clinching him the win and later awarded Best Puppy Dog. RBPIB RBPIS. 2nd. Mrs M Emerson, Ismirelle’s Spat Ma Dummy. A very nice red boy of quality. Lovely head and expression with correct dentition. Solid construction and handles well. Moved well but gave up the ghost on the final analysis costing him higher awards. A quality pup nonetheless.

Junior Dog 5 (1)

1st. Mr and Mrs Todd-McCoid, Rubyanlo Dream Boy. I have a feeling this lad may well live up to his name, as he impressed me from the get go. Out of the top drawer for quality. Mature for his age, as not yet 14 months, and I hope he doesn’t change much, as he’s got what it takes now. So nicely put together and all as it should be, with nothing overdone, or lacking. Refined in stature but with good bone structure. He has a very attractive head piece with lovely expression. Correct dentition. And to top it all doesn’t put a foot wrong. Moved with style, and his silhouette when standing cannot fail to catch the eye, hence his first place and subsequent RCC, challenging the CC winner closely. 2nd. Miss D Gilling. Rubyanlo Tommy Hilfiger of Talocan JW. A lovely young man I have previously judged and was suitable impressed then, as today. Yes he’s on the small size, but he’s like a pocket rocket in the ring. Has the cute factor,

but also is well put together and well made for his size. He’s not lacking in bone or substance. Decent head with good dentition. Cocky and impressive on the move.

Special Yearling 7 (0)

1st. Mr and Mrs Lewis, Tyssul Easy On The I. Fawn boy with attractive overall balance. Nicely put together showing his impressive shape. Decent head with nice eye. Moved well. Solid little dog that has a lot of appeal. 2nd. Mrs M Emmerson, Ismirelles Ready To Fight JW. A lovely dog, close up to the winner, with equal qualities and a particularly lovely head. Well shaped skull, with moderate muzzle and lovely expression. Good to handle on the table. Moved well enough. When both these dogs are on their toes, it will be a tough battle to separate them. Liked them both.

Post Graduate Dog 5(0)

1st. Mrs S Skinner. Mujerosa Hats Off To You JW. Attractive Red and white boy with lots to like. Hands on construction is solid and correct. Good head with decent length of neck, would maybe prefer slightly bigger ear to enhance the head and expression. Good body and ideal for size. Nothing overdone. Particularly nice movement. 2nd. Mrs S T Barker. Mocha Vanilla Baralicia JW. A dog I have had the pleasure of judging before and placing in a Puppy Group. Loved him then and love him still. His head is his fortune, so well shaped with rounded skull, large dark eyes and lovely expression. Well constructed and nice and easy to put your hands on. Moved well, but became lathargic at the crucial moment, and went off the boil, costing him his first place. When on his metal I’m sure he’ll challenge the best. His time will come.

Limit Dog 10(2)

1st. Miss B Newberry. Hermosoangels Lord Vecna. A bit of a mixed class of differing types, and decided on this lovely red sable boy, with such a nice head, which would have been even better had he decided to use his ears. Very typy and an ideal size. Overall good quality would benefit from a tad more body weight. Moved and showed well and earned his first pace. Nice boy. 2nd. Miss E Hicks, Torre Del Pilar Sandman At Casiatodo (Imp Esp). Impressive tri colour boy, mature in construction and build. Well shaped head and skull, with moderate muzzle length enhancing an overall impressive headpiece. Well coated and did the deed, moving and showing, but didn’t really want to give his all today, costing him the first place. Shame as there’s lots to like about this boy.

Open Dog. 7(0)

1st. Miss S MCKenna. Ir Ch. Chantico Tiny Dancer (IKC). Eye catching parti-colour boy whose head is his fortune. Lovely shaped skull, with correctly placed ears and dark eyes, Correct muzzle length, all fitting together nicely to register such attractive quality. Finely put together but doesn’t lack substance. Impressive tidy front. Just the right shape overall with nothing overdone or exaggerated. Can be a little erratic on the move, but managed to settle himself down and put in a good performance. Definitely my type of dog, hence awarded him the CC and RBOB, and subsequently went on to win Reserve Best In Show. 2nd. Mr and Mrs Todd-McCoid, Ch. Rubyanlo Close Call. Another quality exhibitor here, and well worth his Champion title. Quality head of masculine type. Good Length of neck leading to firm body. Level topline to well set tail. In decent coat and presented well. Just a fraction long in body. Moves and shows very well.

Veteran Dog 3(2)

1st. Miss R Berrington, Ellochi Crazy Nights For Pappersley JW. Another exhibit I’ve previously judged, and awarded a RCC to, and still looks as good today, defying his almost 8 years of age. Lovely boy of super quality, carrying an impressive head with really attractive expression. Although masculine he has no courseness and has so much to like about him. Put on a super performance showing and moving so well. Still have a soft spot for him. Best Veteran and went onto to win Best Veteran In Show.

Minor Puppy Bitch 10(1)

1st. Mrs A Skinner, Mujerosa Miss Talkulah. Sable and white baby of lovely type and present a good shape and top line and tail set. Moved and showed well. Sweet as sweet. 2nd. Ms K Bielena, Daiquiri Dream Right Royal. Cream girl quite mature for her age, which is evident when handling, as body is well filled with no lacking body condition. Decent head. Well put together which comes together when on the move which won her second pace in a well filled class of puppies.

Puppy Bitch 15 (3)

1st. Mr and Mrs Hornby, Bramerita Little Red Head. A promising young lady that has everything going for her. Ticks many boxes for quality and type. Good enough head with large eyes enhancing the appeal. All correct in construction, and knows how to show herself off. Moves very true and precise. RCC, Best Puppy In Breed and subsequently Best Puppy In Show. 2nd. Mr D Langford , Bramerita Natural Blonde At Boetandales. Another lovely girl very close up to the first, and delighted to see she’s the winners litter sister. What a pretty girl show is, with the loveliest of heads and a good body to go with it. Full of quality in type. Also very impressive on the move. Close call between these girls and how nice to have two quality girls in a litter.

Junior Bitch 10(2)

1st. Mrs S Barker, Baralicia Jenny Wren. A red girl of overall quality carrying a super shape and firm top line. Correct tail set. Good head with correct dentition. Another who covered the ground well. 2nd. Miss R Berrington, Pappersley Leonora. Finely made girl so feminine and pretty, who scores on head type with enticing expression. Good to handle. Moved soundly.

Special Yearling Bitch 7 (0)

1st. Ms K Bielena. Misty Meadow’s Morning Glory. Fawn bitch who really caught my eye when entering the ring. Right from the top drawer with the loveliest of heads, perfect ear set, correct dentition. Perfect neck length to firm body and spirit level top line to correct tail set and carriage. Lovely to handle, lovely to watch, and at one with her handler,

bringing out the best in her. Delighted to award her her first CC, and really looked the the part along side the lovely male winner, but just clinched Best of Breed on her steadier movement. Delighted to then see her awarded Best In Show. 2nd. Miss E and Mrs D Titterell & Bruce, Caballie Madam Blondie. Another of many quality girls I judged today whose really maturing nicely into a glamorous young lady. Has lots of ring appeal and breed point qualities. Moved and showed well by her attentive handler and challenged hard for the RCC.

Post Graduate Bitch. 11 (3)

1st. Mrs P Jones, Flickan Flapjack. Sable girl of slightly smaller and finer type, but still has what it takes to clinch this class. Enough substance for size with a tidy front and good body for size. A sprightly youngster that moves with a mission and gives the best of herself. 2nd. Mr and Mrs Todd-McCoid, Rubyanlo Kendal Mint Cake. Gold girl with good head and large dark eye. Self pigmented but fits in well with head and expression. A tad wide in skull but doesnt effect overall appeal. Well covered and presented and did her job well.

Limit Bitch 9 (2)

1st. Mr and Mrs Todd-McCoid, Rubyanlo Showens St Jarna JW. A particularly nice headed red girl, so true for type and quality. Again super construction with good spring and waist. Correct set tail carried nicely. Tidy front enhancing sound movement. Credit must go to this kennel for producing such depth in quality of all their exhibits. 2nd. Mrs P Jones, Flickan Fragrant Flower. Red girl of a more refined type. Fine bone but not lacking substance. Good head and dentition with a clear stop, shapening the head well. Clean front movement. Good tail well plumed.

Open Bitch. 7 (4)

1st. Miss C Taylor, Slo Ch Chantaydan Strike A Pose JW. Mature black tri with well put together construction and appealing in shape and overall presentation. Attractive head with correct length of muzzle and shape which comes together nicely to create a very appealing picture. Overall movement good and particularly nice in profile. Lots to like. 2nd. Another tri colour girl in her veteran year almost 7 years of age but you’d never know. Certainly holding her age well with well put together overall stature presenting an appealing picture. Another girl who appeals in profile and gives a really good account of herself.

Vereran Bitch 1 (0)

Mr and Mrs Graham. Chihgra Pearly Button. Decent looking girl now 8 years of age.

Good size and looking good for her years. Went well.
