West Pennine Pug Dog Club

It was an honour to be asked to judge this show and I was delighted with the great entry and the sportsmanship of all the exhibitors. Thank you to the stewards who kept the ring running very well. I judged the dogs on the day looking for breed type and health; I found the overall health of the breed very good with some excellent youngsters coming through. We do need to keep an eye on the length of the coat, as there were a few examples where the coat was too long and the size of the ear too big.

I had a lovely line up of bitches challenging for the CC’s and my winner was a bitch that excels in breed type and moved and showed exceptionally well

Minor Puppy Bitch 5/6

1.Hill, Mrs A & Miss L Rhodenash Kandoo Khaos with Calaquendi Quality puppy, who is feminine but still has the correct substance. Very pleasing head, with well-defined wrinkle, excellent pigment, correct short fine coat, lovely round sound dark eyes, pleasing overall balance, correct length of neck, neat feet, well set tail, good rib, strong forechest moved out very well winning her the class, I am sure she has a bright future ahead. Another quality puppy, who is well balanced and lovely in profile. Feminine head with wrinkle well defined, soft dark eyes, thin ear of correct size, correct top line, short and cobby, a little unsettled on the move but I have no doubt these bitches will swap places

A quality bitch puppy, Feminine with pleasing well defined wrinkle, dark intense pigment, nice dark eye and neat ears. Strong straight front and neat feet. Excellent overall shape and held level topline standing and on the move, lovely bone, well tail set and curl. Strong forechest. good rear angulation moved out with drive and presented in excellent condition. Another puppy with a bright future.

Feminine well-balanced bitch, pleasing clear dark eye, open nostrils, strong forechest with legs set well under, finished with a lovely short fine coat.

Lovely head on this bitch, with well-defined wrinkle, dark clear eye, dark intense pigment, open nostrils, excellent substance and still feminine, short fine coat, well set tail, neat feet, strong hind quarters with correct rear angulation, would just like her in slightly harder condition, moved soundly.

There is so much to like about this beautiful bitch of very good shape and size, she is full of true breed qualities with a super balanced profile. Many pleasing qualities in head with fine well-defined wrinkle, lovely dark eye, excellent pigment, good width on lower jaw, neat button ear, level topline which she held on the move, lovely reach of neck, correct short soft fine coat, legs set well under body and correct fore chest, Good high set tail and tight curl, excellent rear angulation, presented in hard condition and moved out positively, to top it off she has that “full of fire” typical pug expression that just demands your attention. Nice overall shape, high tail set and tight twist. Ample work in head with large dark eye, correct sized soft, fine button ear and ample width on lower jaw., strong front and hindquarters with legs set well under good turn of stifle which she used on the move.

Strong straight front with legs set well under, good substance and bone, beautiful outline, level topline, excellent rear angulation, moved and handled very well.

Feminine fawn bitch with the most pleasing of heads. Dark intense pigment, neat button ear, well defined wrinkle and large dark eye. Straight front with good rib and level topline, correct reach of neck, soft short gleaming coat presented in lovely condition, good tail set and twist moved and handled well.

Strong straight front with legs set well under, ample substance and bone, beautiful outline, level topline, moved well.

I have judged this bitch before and again today she did not disappoint, excellent well-balanced profile, level top line, nice reach of neck and straight front with legs set well under, pleasing head with well-defined wrinkle, neat button ears and dark round eye giving lovely expression, open nostrils, excellent dark intense pigment against a soft, short fine correct coat, well set tail, sound on the move, presented in immaculate condition.

Very nice feminine bitch and worthy champion with good substance and bone. Soft feminine expression with dark pigment, clear dark eye and enough work in her head, open nostrils, neat ear, short and cobby with good well sprung rib. Nice overall outline with strong straight front and neat feet, strong hind quarters which she used on the move, presented in beautiful condition and handled well, she has real character, I loved her animation and could see she was enjoying her day and never stopped showing RBCC

Another bitch that caught my eye very pleasing head with excellent pigment and clear dark eye, very well-balanced, well-set tail, nice reach of neck, strong straight front, moved and showed well and presented in lovely condition.
