Ladies Kennel Association

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier

My many thanks to the Ladies Kennel Association for inviting me to judge Jack Russell Terriers again for them. I would also like to thank my very capable stewards that kept the ring well organised; and on time; having started over an hour later than scheduled. (I did manage to get some lunch!) And many thanks to all the exhibitors who entered; I had a fabulous entry of 52! It was lovely to see some exhibits that haven’t been to shows for a while.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2 entries, 1 abs)

1st Saich’s Lindcoly Miss Pixar

A pretty feminine head with dark almond shaped eyes; an alert expression, neat and small, correctly set ears and fabulous pigmentation. This minor puppy needs more ring-craft and grooming as she climbs the classes. Nevertheless, she has good front legs with neat feet and well-bent stifles. She was presented in a good harsh coat that was hiding her confirmation.

Puppy Bitch (3 entries, 2 abs)

1st MacKay, MacDonald & Turner’s Locheil Party For Two

A lovely 9½ month old puppy bitch with a beautiful feminine head and with enough maturity to confirm her a bright future. Her chest is oval and correctly deep to her elbows. She has a lovely top-line and tail-set. Her body is balanced, she has fabulous hind quarters with good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. She has a very good attitude and gait on the move. I was very pleased to award her Best Puppy in Breed today and to later learn she was placed 4th in the Terrier Puppy Group.

Junior Bitch (3 entries, 1 abs)

1st Ryan’s Saredon Quickstep

This bitch has a very attractive outline when standing. She has good front angulation, a level top-line with a correct tail-set, and a good well-muscled bend of stifle. Her hocks are well let down and her pasterns are equally straight. So, on the move she should cover the ground efficiently. However, today she was not confident on the move. Nevertheless, she won this class on confirmation and I am sure, with time, her confidence will improve.

2nd Witmond’s Tiltser Mint Velvet

Obversely, this compact bitch is impressive with her attitude. She has the sweetest balanced head, a flat skull, correct set on ears, attractive dark almond shaped eyes, and correct dentition. She moved boldly and confidently with her lovely correctly set, straight tail carried erectly. She was shown with a good harsh and loose pelt and presented well. For me, she just needs a little more front angulation in line with the breed standard.

Post Graduate Bitch (6 entries, 2 abs)

1st Evan’s Jackpack Picture Perfect

This 2 year old bitch has a lot to like; she has a very clean well-balanced outline on the stack. A good head with the neatest ears and level skull; set onto a good reach of neck, onto well laid shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Her front legs are well boned and straight. She has a good spannable rib, is short coupled and has a good width of thigh; well bent stifles and well-let down hocks with equally straight back pasterns. The neatest of feet; a Perfect Picture package. I was very pleased to award her Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd Irving’s Twinan Light Blu Touch Paper

Another impressive and balanced young bitch with good body proportions. She was handled well and exhibited an excellent harsh loose pelt. Her front legs are well boned and straight. She has a spannable well sprung ribcage and stands with a very level top-line. Again, this bitch has well let down hocks with parallel pasterns. She also moved out with a lovely attitude, stride and drive.

Limit Bitch (6 entries, 5 abs)

1st Kay’s Jackopeaks This Is Me

A 5-year-old smooth coated bitch showing all of the body’s shape where nothing is hidden under a rough fur coat. Her head is balanced, her ears are neat and correctly sized. She has a very level top-line, a perfectly straight and well-set on tail and well-muscled thighs. She stands with four correctly well-boned straight legs. However, she is just a little overweight but not that much as she is still spannable.

Open Bitch (1 Entries, 0 abs)

1st MacKay, MacDonald & Turner’s Locheil Snow Queen

She was very impressive as she trotted into the ring as the only exhibitor in this open class. Nonetheless, she has absolutely everything needed in a quality bitch and as recorded in the breed standard, she has well-laid back shoulders with a visible fore chest which ensures her elbows are set under the body! She has an oval spannable ribcage and, due to the correct angulation of the fore chest, she has excellent extension on the move and with equivalent nice stifles she also has sound drive from the rear. Consequently, she moved exceptionally well against all of the other bitch exhibitors today. I was delighted to award her Best Bitch and then later, against a strong dog exhibit, awarded her Best of Breed.

Class 2456 Good Citizens Bitch (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st Kay & Smith’s Jackopeaks Peaches Legacy

Only one in this class but a very feminine bitch with a bright alert expression, almond dark eye and excellent pigmentation. Flat skull and small neat ears carried well. She has a correct top-line; a good spring of rib that is easily spannable and a good loose pelt. I would prefer more angulation fore and aft; however, she moved very well and was shown in good condition.

Class 2457 Special Beginners Bitch (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st Klocankova’s Shadlisa Dream Girl

A white and rich tan, broken coated, well-bodied bitch that was very well groomed and turned out for a beginner. She is well off for bone, has a good width and well-muscled thigh; and therefore, she moved very well. Both exhibit and handler showed with a good attitude. Pleased to later learn she was placed 2nd in the Best Special Beginners Terrier Group. Well Done!!
