BELFAST DOG SHOW SOCIETY

SUN 28 SEP 25

PASTORAL GROUP

It was an absolute honour to be invited to judge the Pastoral Group at Belfast Dog Show Society and equally enjoy the Irish hospitality, a show I have exhibited and judged at on many occasions.

So let’s get to the dogs, many beautiful BOB winners represented their breed to make my decision that much harder, I had a short list of 7 truly lovely breeds which included the Rough Collie, Hungarian Pumi, Old English Sheepdog, Samoyed, Shetland Sheepdog, Welsh Corgi (Cardigan) and Welsh Corgi (Pembroke).

G1 Irving’s Ch Pi-Et-Ra of Trefilio Borntobe Avalanche JW (imp HUN). Welsh Corgi (Cardigan). I found this lady to be so true to her breed type with a lovely foxy head with erect, well set ears, dark eyes of medium size helping give that lovely expression, perfect dentition and good pigmentation, strong arched neck, lovely front and deep chest, shoulders well set, a firm top-line that she held both standing and on the move, strong rear quarters with perfect angulation and toned first and second thigh that had plenty of muscle to produce perfect movement with thrust and drive.

G2 Cronk’s Chelborn Tell Me Your Wish. Collie (Rough). Delighted to find a Rough Collie with this quality and breed type giving that typical expression, the head being so important and she had everything that you could wish for with her equal proportions giving a blunt clean wedge shaped head with the darkest almond eyes, good stop and tipped ears that are surrounded by a good rough making the perfect head, good forechest and sloping shoulders, firm top-line with a slight rise over her loins, strong muscled rear, moved with animation and presented in full coat.

G3 Rogala’s Multi Ch. Griland Texas Ranger Jch Cen JW. Old English Sheepdog. This young man is a credit to his breed, so 4 square and a true vision of a shire horse, a truly capacious skull which is so lacking in the breed these days, well set small ears with lots of feathering, good eye colour, correct stop, broad and deep muzzle, good bite, lovely front which wasn’t too wide, well off for bone, arched swan neck flowing into well laid back shoulders, deep chest, firm top-line leading to a rise over the rear quarters, good muscle tone on thighs with well let down hocks, neat feet, movement was as desired of an Old English Sheepdog, free with thrust and drive, tail stayed down, well presented in full coat.

G4 Pike/Carter’s Ir Ch. Breezelyn Ear Sumut Special Cw25. Hungarian Pumi.

Male of good size, lovely typical head with perfect pigmentation and proportions, dark oval eyes and scissor bite with full pigment in his mouth, ears are set high and tilt forward at the tip, well arched and muscled neck, good front with straight forelegs, lean body with lots of muscle that is well developed, sloping shoulders, firm top-line and sound rear quarters that are very powerful, he has neat cat like feet and his movement was energetic.
