1st Jakins’ Sh Ch/int Sh Ch/multi Ch Terne Des Coris Qalimero at Coolfin (Imp Bel) JW WW'23 – 8 year old strong and powerful dog displaying an athletic picture. Broad masculine head with dark eye and ears set level with eyes. Muscular neck leading to well laid back shoulders and a strong, level topline and loin. Chest reaches to elbow. Correct rear angulation and width of thigh. Moved well in profile showing good drive. Clean movement behind but not as true in front. Best Veteran

Two puppies of different types and in different stages of development. Both showed cheeky and playful characters; while doing enough to be assessed. Both should have bright futures.

1st Mackay’s Coolfin Whiskey in The Jar – the older of the two at 11 months had the maturity in the class, although still a raw setter. He is balanced throughout his body. Broad in skull and muzzle which I hope his body will catch up with. Round, dark eyes and correctly set ears. Good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, strong level topline and chest broad and well filled for age. He moved true fore and aft with correct footfall in profile. In the puppy challenge he showed his reach and drive to take Best Puppy in Breed over his litter sister.

2nd Hart’s Gilliegrae So Berry Excited – Only 7 months, a lovely typey puppy who presents a good picture on the stand. Skull still to break and further develop as expected at this stage. He has wonderful front construction with well laid back shoulders, deep chest with well strung ribs into a short loin. His rear still needs to develop to match his front. Unfortunately, this showed in his movement today and had a tendency to overreach. I look forward to seeing him develop into his potential

1st Catton, Cook & Jakins’ Coolfin Clancy with Ferngate – 4 year old dog starting to mature. Good depth and strength to body. Broad skull in proportion to body and dark, round eyes giving a soft expression. I would prefer a bit more length to his muzzle. Standing on tight feet and plenty of bone. He holds a level topline with strong ribs. In a muscular condition he moved true with reach and drive. RCC

2nd Ward’s Laoirebay Glenmacnass from Copperwhite – a 5 year old dog with lots to like. More to type for me, he possesses the outline and style that shouts Irish Red and White Setter. Balanced and well made throughout. Just today on the move he lacked any sparkle and carried his tail down, not showing the reach and drive he could have, but was true and correct footfall.

1st Catton & Cook’s Sh Ch Daithi Shadow Dog with Ferngate (Imp Pol) – 6 year old dog who has come into full maturity and owns an athletic and powerful outline. Skull broad in proportion to body and fairly square muzzle. Dark, round eyes with ears set level with the eye. He has well laid back shoulders and correct return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and spring of rib and with forechest. Strong, muscular neck and topline and enough rear, Moved with reach and drive and OK fore and aft. Presented in well feathered coat and solid condition to take the CC & BOB.

2nd Taylor’s Laoirebay Monte Carlo – A 7 year old dog with strength throughout. Masculine, pleasing head with broad skull and fairly square muzzle and good stop. Strong bone and standing on tight feet, he has a firm level topline and excellent width of thigh. On the move he drives well from behind but lacks the reach in front today that I was looking for.

1st Mackay’s Coolfin Whiskey in The Jar – see 1st puppy dog.

2nd Jeffreson’s Hodgehall The Show Must Go On – A 2 year old feminine bitch with correct athletic build. She has a lovely head with intelligent and soft expression. She carries a level topline and well angulated fore and aft with a good width of thigh. Correct tail set and she moves true but lacked reach and drive and was a little reserved.

1st Jones’ Talintyre Fomhar Thyme via Berryessa – this young lady is a lovely youngster, just out of junior. She still has some maturing to go and wasn’t in her best of coats, but she could not be denied the CC today, and I’m sure more will follow as she matures. Beautiful head with correct proportions, her ears set level with dark eyes. She is well angulated fore and aft with a good width of thigh. Topline strong and held level, with slight slope to croup. Well sprung ribs and excellent depth of chest. She moved true from all angles and had reach and drive, never missing a beat through a change of runners.

2nd Hawkins’ Rubethan Florentine of Aislingwood – A mature bitch who has deep chest and well sprung ribs with forechest. Strong neck and topline which was held level. Good bone for size. Stifle well bent and moved well and true from all angles.

3rd Jarvis’ Settersay Targaryen Lowdon – Another young bitch possessing many great qualities. I liked her for type and cleaness in movement, but she shows her immaturity in this class and still needs to fill out, something she has time to do and would love to see her again in a few years.
