WELKS Golden Retriever (Bitches)

Thank you to the WELKS committee for inviting me for my first CC appointment at their well run, friendly show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and felt honoured to have the opportunity to assess some beautiful bitches and would like to thank all exhibitors for entering & taking all my decisions so sportingly, it made my first experience awarding CC’s a fantastic one. On the whole the breed is improving based on past judging appointments however, my main concern would be overloaded shoulders which are slowly starting to creep back in and are hindering some fronts. My highlight of the day was being surrounded by that beautiful golden temperament, every exhibit seemed happy to be there enjoying the day with their human and these temperaments are a credit to you all. Finally thank you to both my stewards who had the ring running like clockwork which helped us get through my wonderful entry in good time.

Veteran (9,4abs)

1)Ives’ ShCh Trewater Busy Lizzie at Balsamina. 9 year old cream bitch who is in fantastic condition for her age. Feminine & balanced throughout with beautiful head, dark eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck which flowed into the best of shoulders, straight well boned front and good cat like feet. Correct level topline, tailset & nice amount of rear angulation with neat hocks. She moves effortlessly & cleanly both coming and going. An absolute credit to her owner.

2)Palmer & Whites’ Linirgor Perfect Symphony of Cairnglen. 7 year old mid gold bitch who has the most beautiful feminine head with dark eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and good straight front. Level in topline which she held both stood and on the move with correct tail carriage. Good rear angulation with neat hocks. Pushed 1 hard but would have liked a little more enthusiasm from her on the move.

3)Phipps-Baker & Baker’s Maddouse Tail Spinner Sgwc

Minor Puppy (9,2abs)

1)Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhills Happy Hour. Raw but exactly what I would expect of a 7month old puppy. She has a beautiful head with good dark eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, well boned, straight front with neat cat like feet. Topline firm for her age with correct tail set and carriage which she held both stood and on the move. Well angulated behind with neat hocks and good muscle. Moved well when settled but gave her handler a hard time on occasion. Pleased to award her best puppy bitch & will watch her future with interest.

2)List’s Haydengold Latest Gossip. Another quality puppy who again has the most beautiful head, dark eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders and straight front. She has good bone & tight cat like feet. Top line firm with correct tail set and good rear angulation with plenty of muscle. Moved out well.
