Welsh Kennel Club

Breed: Terrier group WKC

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee of the Welsh Kennel Club for their warm support and for granting me the honour of judging my first Group at this prestigious show. From a highly competitive line-up, my shortlist comprised the Airedale Terrier, Miniature Bull Terrier, Irish Terrier, Jack Russell Terrier, Norfolk Terrier, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the West Highland White Terrier.

1. The Westie, Ch Burneze Reach For The Stars . This dog caught my attention the moment he entered the ring, excellent ring presence. He possesses a classic head with a true terrier eye, giving an authentic and alert expression. Well-placed shoulders lead into a firm, level topline, complemented by a high-set tail carried correctly. Moved well both ways & Presented in outstanding condition, with immaculate preparation and grooming, as one would expect from this clever breeder.

2. The Nofolk, Ch Watercroft Easy Tiger. A well-balanced dog with a pleasing head and good expression. Displays a correct length of neck leading into well-laid shoulders, with a well-sprung rib and firm topline Tail carriage over back.. Moved true both coming and going, which secured him his placing. Presented in excellent coat & condition.

3. The Miniature Bull Terrier, Ch Risibully Have You Seen Her with Fergustaff JW. I first admired this bitch as a very young puppy, and she has certainly fulfilled her early promise. Pushed the second-place winner closely. She has a lovely feminine head with a good eye, strong neck leading into correct shoulders, a deep chest and good bone. Moved soundly and showed with style.

4. The SCWT, Ch Silkcroft Never Miss A Beat – Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. A typical head with well-placed ears and a keen, intelligent eye. Moderate neck flowing into good shoulder placement, well-sprung rib and adequate bone. Correct tail set. Catches the eye in profile movement, shown in good condition with correct coat texture and colour.
