Richmond Dog Show Society

Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the stewards whose hard work and organisation ensured the smooth running of the event. Your dedication behind the scenes is truly appreciated.

I would also like to thank the exhibitors for their entries, their sportsmanship. It’s a privilege to be entrusted with the opportunity to judge. Thank you all for making the day so enjoyable.

Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the exhibits presented. It was encouraging to find all bites correct, and a notable number of dogs were shown in hard, muscular condition, reflecting the care and preparation of their handlers. Movement across the classes was, for the most part, excellent, with many dogs displaying sound, free, and balanced action. There was also a tendency toward a lighter eye in several dogs, and some were a little strong in skull, which slightly detracted from the desired balance in head and expression.

1st: LAMB, & COOK, Brooke Will Do It Through Milcook

Nine-year-old mature male of size and substance. He presents a graceful outline that still reflects masculinity and power, standing over plenty of ground. He has a pleasing head, with good length and strength to the muzzle, and correct width of skull. His neck is strong with a slight arch, well set into clean shoulders. He could benefit from a greater return of upper arm, shows a slight prominence in fore chest. His front is straight, with a slight angle to the pasterns and neat, compact feet. He has a well-formed ribcage and a firm back, with a slight arch over the loin and a strong, muscular loin. Well constructed in the rear, with strong, thighs. Moves with purpose, driving well from behind and single-tracking with ease. Best Veteran

I liked this young two-year-old male. He is medium in size and has correct substance for his age, giving the overall impression of an athletic, balanced dog with a pleasing outline. He has an excellent, clean-cut head with correct proportions, a well-shaped skull, and a well-set muzzle. His medium-sized, dark eyes convey a soft and intelligent expression. He has a moderately long neck, strongly set into well-laid shoulders, with a good return of upper arm. Straight in front, with a slight angle to the pasterns and firm, round feet. He shows a nice spring and depth of rib, with a firm, level topline and correctly set tail. Two really nice dogs head this class

1st: DYMOND Ch Ir Sh Ch Quintana Diamond Dust At Friarsbelle JW

Impressive four-year-old male who presents the appearance of a truly athletic dog. He stands over plenty of ground and was shown in excellent condition—well-muscled and sound on the move. He has a masculine head, with strength in the muzzle, good width of nostril, correct lip line, and a soft, intelligent dark eye. The neck is strong and well set into well-laid shoulders. He could benefit from a little more return of upper arm. Straight front with balanced bone and tight, round feet. He has a deep, well-sprung ribcage and excellent quarters, featuring deep, well-muscled thighs and hocks that are square with the body and parallel when viewed from behind. Pleased to award him BD and BOB

2nd: ADAMS Sh Ch Tequesta Poldark JW I liked the overall proportions of his body, featuring a nicely short back and a strong, level topline. I preferred the head and neck of number 1, but this dog still presents a pleasing typical outline. Shoulders are well-sloped with a good return of upper arm. He has a straight front, compact, tight feet with well-arched toes. His body is correct, with good depth of rib. The rear quarters are strong, with well-developed musculature, contributing to a smooth, lithe gait with efficient movement. Res BD.

Res: MEWSE & MEWSE Allezweck Toccoa At Krimshar

JB (3 Entries) Two very nice 17 month old bitches who excelled in slightly different ways.

1st: ADAMS & ADAMS Keigame Mystique Aurora JW Presents a typical silhouette, I found her skull a little strong, and would prefer a more typical eye, she has strength in neck, set well into shoulder well laid back, she has balanced angulation front and rear, with straight front, slightly abrupt front pasterns, tight round feet, strong rear pasterns, with hocks well let down, good body for her age with strong topline, correct tail set. She moved out very freely with correct foot fall and nice reach and drive.

2nd: HAYDON Rookcross Elanor. Feminine bitch with a very pleasing head, showing a nice balance between skull and muzzle and a correct stop. I particularly liked her eye shape, which is soft and dark, contributing to an expressive and feminine look. Shoulders are well laid back with a good return of upper arm. She is shorter in back than number 1. However, she would benefit from more angulation in the stifle and shows a lack of angulation at the hock joint, though this may improve with maturity. She moved quite nicely overall.

3rd: SMITH & SMITH Rookcross Rosie Cotton At Abbeyaire

1st: VAN OOSTRUM Take It To The Limit At Waldecke

An appealing three-year-old bitch. She is at the correct stage of development for her age, with plenty of potential still to mature. Feminine in appearance, she has a truly lovely temperament—happy, friendly, relaxed, and waggy, which is always a pleasure to see. She is nicely made overall, pleasing, balanced head. Her dark, kind eyes and correctly set ears, hung close to the head, enhance her expression. She has a slightly tapered, strong neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Straight in front, level topline and a a deep ribcage and well-constructed quarters. Her stifles are well bent, and she shows good muscular development. She moved out really nicely, with good reach in front and strong drive from behind.

1st: EDLIN Graygees Tsarine Medium-sized, feminine bitch who stands over plenty of ground. She presents a graceful outline with pleasing body proportions, giving an overall impression of balance and soundness.

She has a feminine head, well-laid shoulders with a good return of upper arm, and a well-sprung ribcage. Behind, she shows a correct turn of stifle and is well-angulated into strong rear pasterns. Not a flashy mover, but very sound and honest on the move.

2nd: GOFF & GOFF & DALES Seasham Embrace At Shoshoni

A pretty bitch, smaller than number 1, with a sweet, feminine head and a nicely tapered neck flowing into a well-laid shoulder. I would prefer a little more return and length of upper arm. She has a deep, well-sprung ribcage and a strong topline. Slightly over-angulated in the rear, but presented in good coat and condition. She moved with purpose and ease, covering the ground well. In profile.

1st: BUNKER Winterwell Little Itch At Karitagan.

A bitch of typical feminine silhouette, standing over plenty of ground with substance and size without being overdone. I found her head particularly pleasing—feminine, well-balanced, and in harmony with her overall outline. She has a strong neck leading into a well-laid shoulder, with good return of upper arm and correctly placed elbows. Her front is straight, with correct bone, slightly sloping pasterns, and tight, round feet. Well-constructed through the body, with a firm topline and correct tail set. She has strongly made quarters with good width and muscle through the thighs. She moved out very smoothly in profile, showing excellent reach and drive. Slight tendency to be close behind, but overall a very impressive bitch. Pleased to award her Best Bitch.

2nd: ELLIOTT & ELLIOTT Sh Ch Ankerwycke Silk Stockings A really nicely put-together package at five years old a feminine bitch who mature and finished. Great breed type. She is balanced and well made all around, with a clean cut, well-balanced head, correct skull, a nice deep muzzle, correctly set ears.

Her angulation is in harmony front and rear, with excellent thighs and good broad quarters with muscle tone throughout. She moved very nicely, with good reach in front and strong drive from behind. On the day, she just lacked the lustre and sparkle of the first-placed bitch, but still a quality exhibit. Res Best Bitch.
