Cesky Terrier Club

Breed: Cesky Terrier

The Cesky Terrier Club Championship Show held on 19th July 2025 at Steventon Village Hall, Abingdon OX13 6RR

It is always a privilege to judge a breed club championship show so thank you very much for the invitation and thank you for the entries. Thank you also to my hard working and very pleasant steward and to the show management who had everything running so smoothly.

I always enjoy judging the Ceskies and this appointment was no exception. The breed truly are lasters and once again veterans featured in some of my top awards. Overall quality and type is good and the mouths were excellent . There were one or two who were a bit too shy rather than just being “somewhat reserved”. Fronts are a bit of a challenge and I think it is important to distinguish between free moving elbows and loose elbows which protrude. Movement was the decider in a number of decisions. Like a number of terrier breeds the breed could do with a few more exhibitors and breeders however it was lovely to see three new puppies with lots to like about them and all with delightful temperaments. I think they made us all smile.

Puppy dog-1 entry

1st Richardson and Wilson’s Alchemy Like A Hurricane (imp Can)-lovely baby to start the day off. Delightful temperament. Lovely proportions and is certainly agile and with stamina. Handled well on the table. Looks good going round, super head developing. Front will need to settle down but everything seems to be in the right place for this baby. Finished a well deserved best puppy.

Junior dog-2 entries

1st Alchemy Like A Hurricane (imp Can)

2nd Burrage’s Lojza Garex-13 months and was obviously more mature than the baby. Looks ok standing, decent head, not cooperating at all with his handler which spoilt his chances.

Novice dog-1 entry

1st Alchemy Like A Hurricane (imp Can)

Limit dog-3 entries 1 absent

1st Goodwin’s Placido Proper Player of Bleuetopia-lots to like on this boy, balanced, pretty good front assembly and looks good standing. Decent outline. Just lacking rear angulation on the move and could do with a slightly more masculine head.

2nd Pearson’s Winoski Aemond -everything seemed to be in the right place on this boy, masculine, decent head, unfortunately he was tense in the ring making him difficult to assess, particularly on the move.

Open dog-1 entry

1st Fewings’ Komidion Schubert-stood alone but could have taken on some competition. Unmistakeably a male, very masculine, in good hard condition, insisted in putting a stop in on the move.

Champion dog-2 entries

Two nice champions here which made this an interesting assessment.

1st Tobijanski’s Ch Janski O’rolox-took my eye when he first came in for his lovely balance, moderate from all angles which was so pleasing, examined very well on the table, lovely correct head proportions and head totally in balance with the body, super front and equally good rear and he moved like he stood making the propulsion and the vigour look effortless. Correct outline standing and moving. Well presented to emphasise his quality. I found nothing that I liked better all day -well deserved CC and BIS.

2nd Burrage’s Ch Sametova Bacary-much to like about this boy, masculine, balanced, typy and was a good mover when he got going. Not quite as steady as the winner but a well deserved Res CC.

Veteran dog-1 entry

1st Tobijanski’s Ch Janski Bugurovski-typy veteran and when I looked back I see that he was my Res CC winner last time I judged. Type is lovely, super head, good outline and catches your eye on the move. Just could not match the CC winner or the Res CC winner in rear today.

Puppy bitch-2 entries

2 delightful litter sisters in this class with much to commend both of them.

1st Goodwin’s Bleuetopia Arusha-lovely baby, was self assured, nice to go over on the table and she was steady on the move. Showing promise and made a nice pair with the puppy dog when they competed for best puppy.

2nd Bleuetopia Ahsoka-not quite as forward as her sister and not quite as steady but all the basics are there. Lovely head, decent proportions and very promising.

Post graduate bitch-1 entry

1st Pearson’s Winoski Rhaenyra-rather like her litter brother this young lady decided to make it difficult for her handler. Is a good type and has a good head but was just too tense so difficult to assess.

Limit bitch-2 entries

1st Goodwin’s Placido Oriana at Bleuetopia-much to like about this 4 year old girl. Mature, typical and good for balance.

2nd Dukes’ Runiks Akreepa Of Dragons-did not have the balance of the winner and not as good in outline. In good condition and moved ok when she settled a little.

Open bitch -4 entries

Interesting contest with things to like on all of these.

1st Tobijanski’s Janski Zara Zipporah-a nice outline on this girl standing and moving, she was good in body, balanced, well presented, her steady movement and temperament won her the class.

2nd Fewings’ Komidion Rhapsody in Ryne-much to like about this typy girl. Lovely to go over on the table and I liked her type, substance and overall balance. Not cooperating on the move which pegged her against the winner.

3rd Kirk-Ashby’s Ch Komidion Rhythm at Moraira

Champion bitch-2 entries

1st Burrage’s Ch Komidion Pima Donna of Sametova-took my eye when she came into the ring. Lovely type, good balance, super headed girl, front assembly good, in lovely condition for a veteran and good propulsion from the rear. In great nick for her age. CC

2nd Dukes’ Ch Placido Musical Miracle at Runiks-this one did well under me as a youngster and not surprised to see that she has now earned her title. Still much to like about her and is steady in stance and on the move. Just a touch heavy against the CC and res CC winners today.

Veteran bitch-1 entry

1st Fewings’ Ch Komidion Passionato-stood alone but could have coped with some competition. Super type, feminine, oozes quality and another in great shape for her age. Is litter sister to the CC winner and ended up in a battle with her sister for the CC. Not much to separate them. Eventually her sister’s slightly better animation won the day but a very worthy Res CC.

Sally Brown Special Memorial Stakes dog or bitch

-2 entries

1st Ch Janski Bugurovski

2nd Placido Proper Player of Bleuetopia

Special Handling (up to 16 years)

1st Ella Tobijanski-what a good handler of a Cesky this young lady is. Confident, showed her dog sympathetically to get the best out of him, listened to instructions and put on a really good show. Well done.

Special Handling (over 16 years)

1st Jennifer Goodwin-a very sympathetic handler which I suspect is what this breed needs. Got the best out of each of her exhibits today and moved the dogs at just the right speed.

Brace

1st Tobijanski’s-extremely well matched pair. Lovely pair and both of a similar type, Vey responsive to their handler-the biscuits helped a lot.
