NATIONAL TERRIER CLUB 2025

Terrier Group – Veteran

The veteran group was at the end of the day but some of these veterans were as fresh as ever. It was an interesting group with some very competitive dogs in there and a joy to judge. Pre-judging helped as regards timing but also gave them a little rest before coming into the main ring.

I made a cut of 8 and that meant that one or two dogs that I had liked in the pre-judging had to leave the ring as there was some strength in the group.

1st : MIICHI, Ms K World Original Master's Voice Monamour Lovesong Mo - JACK RUSSELL TERRIER –

Very much the star of the group. Is amazingly 10 years old and acts like a 10 month old. Is quality all through with that extra sparkle that comes from “star quality”. Super condition, very sound, lovely proportions, masculine head, lovely neck and shoulders, firm topline and good rear movement. Never stopped showing and delighted to place him 1st.

2nd : SMITH, Mrs K & SMITH, Misses J & A Ch Heythrop Task Master For Alncroft - PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER – a favourite of mine and another who absolutely belies his years. Has such a super outline, is a great size, looks at you right and puts all in. Super tail carriage. Great feet. Spans well.

3rd : CURTIS, Mrs Jane Ch Verumamicus Aurora Of Brakemill JW OSW - SKYE TERRIER

I judged the Skyes earlier in the day and this lady came into the big ring and basically upped her game. She clearly is a big ring dog. Whenever I looked at her she was displaying a super outline, good height to length balance, in good order and glided round the ring.

4th : SLEIGHT, Miss L Mishahda Where It All Began - DANDIE DINMONT TERRIER – this lady is one of those dogs who has got better with age. Another who really did not act her age, feminine but workmanlike, in good coat of correct length, held her topline reasonably well. Has an excellent rear and covers some ground.

The RKC Breeder’s Competition

1st: Satherley – SCWT-a group of 4 and all very similar in type, size and presentation. Good outlines with excellent toplines and very much in unison. Lovely.

2nd: Gee - Norfolk Terrier-this cheeky trio displayed correct Norfolk outlines, all in good coat and similar in proportions. All had super temperaments.

3rd: Hannington - Glen of Imaal Terriers -lovely to see a group of Glen’s in here. A group of similar type, at different levels of maturity which is to be expected in this slow maturing breed. Super temperaments.

Res: Marton Impey - Bedlington Terriers- an even group of youngsters, all of a similar size and working in harmony.

Terrier Group – Special Beginners

I enjoyed the special beginners. This is a good initiative, great experience and a good training ground.

1st : 1050 BENNETT, Miss Rebecca Sikaistaff Thug Rose - STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER –this was the one that caught my eye on first inspection and continued to do so. Has absolutely nothing to hide. Stands four square on good legs and feet, feminine but with substance, correct head proportions, ok in neck and shoulders, good outline and moves quite well. Put on a really good performance.

2nd : 456 KENWRIGHT, Mr Jacob Lemajac Billy The Kid - FOX TERRIER (SMOOTH) – this young man did a good job with quite a lively youngster, decent head on this male, good attitude, not a bad outline when he got him to stand, plenty big enough.

3rd : 718 HANCOCKS, Mr Graham & BAILEY, Miss Lynn Rattustrap Crimes At Night - MANCHESTER TERRIER -good proportions and outline on this Manchester and moved quite well, correct markings, good expression.

4th : 399 BAKER, Miss Gillian Cloverwood's Storm Shadow - DANDIE DINMONT TERRIER -completed a typical 4, good type of Dandie, correct size, decent coat, moves freely and with purpose. Delightful temperament.
