Gordon Setters
VD (1) 1 Gregg's Locksheath Beach Comber, what a typical Gordon Setter to start the judging with, this 8 year old boy is so typical & just right for age, put down in excellent coat & condition, moved well in not a bad sized ring, particularly looking good with a good stride & head carriage keeping a good topline & well set & carried tail. Slightly narrow in front up & back but a very worthy winner & pleased to award him BV. MPD (1) 1 Macaulay's Waseley Lazy Dayz at Stylersetts, absolute baby of just 8 ½ months, moved just as a youngster of this breed should although he was very good on the up & back. Could see his Mum, so kept turning to watch her, but he has potential & when his handler got control he tried very hard to please. Good front & a nice type, still carrying his tail a bit high but excitement & age was the cause because it is well set & should settle when he does, baby head but well set eyes & good ear carriage. BPD. PD (0) JD (3) 1 Poynter & Collins-Pitman's Amscot Angels And Demons, surprised to see in one so young such lovely well muscled quarters used to advantage to cover the ground with ease & assurance, put down in excellent coat & condition, he is just right for age, he is balanced & with a strong topline & well set tail, loved his masculine head with of course still has to finish but he has a lovely kind eye with a good expression, good head proportions & good ribcage & loin, looked particularly in good in profile movement & just beat 2 on his overall proportions & finish. Give him a few years & like 2 they will be troubling the best; 2 Gregg's Caradilis Fiach Dubh, very close up & was not disgraced by being 2nd here, at present the development of 1's forequarters & finish just nudged the result. In profile movement I loved his head carriage & topline, good tailset, he was put down in excellent coat which was well presented, very typical & one to watch 3 Hogg's Gailiech Wirnpa.YD (2, 1 ab) 1 G Wirnpa, not so developed as 1 & 2 previously & he needs time but although alone, he still merited a first for type, balance & substance. I realise of course that this is a slow maturing breed but his body development is just right & he still needs coat & head to finish to complete the picture. Shall follow his progress. ND (0) PGD (1) 1 Taylor's Graylacier Blue Marlin, just a bit too much weight on this boy which spoils his overall look but more importantly affected his movement. He won JD under me at Bath where he showed well. He is well coated & his coat has been well presented today & although alone here with his weight slightly less his will go further because he has a masculine head & expression with the correct proportions, good neck & enough bend of stifle, moved steadily & he tried hard for his owner who obviously spoils him & I don't blame her. Keep progressing & a well deserved best special beginner later. LD (3) 1 Poynter's Hernwood Cooper King, now studying the catalogue I can see why I kept being drawn back to him, he is brother to the BCC & RDCC! Loved his attitude, breed type & balance, excellent front with a good neck & correct shoulder placement, excellent ribcage & strong loin, masculine head, although I preferred the eye & expression of 2 on the day. Excellent neck, strong topline & well set tail, lovely well muscled hindquarters, good feet & bone, covered the ground with ease. Just coming along right for age, 1 & 2 are excellent examples of the breed; 2 Pirro's Ludstar Malacahi, drawn to him for his type, size & balance, masculine head & expression with well set ears, excellent neck, topline & well set tail of a correct length, put down in excellent coat & condition with the correct texture, lovely ribcage & loin, moved so well in profile with a good head carriage & determination covering the ground with ease, up & back still a bit loose in elbow but could still tighten; 3 Hogg's Gailiech Ngalyod. OD (3) 1 Newton, Cornum & Timmerman's Int Ch/Sh Ch/Am Carnoustie Let The Game Begin (ai), this was my first ch show back since Crufts & those who know me, know that I don't study form & won't be found round a ring when I am judging the breed within a year, so it was a pleasant surprise to meet this handsome boy. He is quality & a proper masculine, mature Gordon from the top drawer. Set up he is balanced with good body proportions, good head carriage, excellent neck, topline & tailset, in excellent coat & condition & well muscled all through but when he moves, he gives you goosebumps with his correct footfall & profile movement going round the ring, I could watch him all day! I can imagine him working all day without a moment's concern for he is well made all through with good shoulder placement & correct depth of chest & excellent well made hindquarters. CC, BOB & Group 3; 2 Ashley-Turner's Sh Ch Hernwood The Botanist JW ShCEx OSW, the other brother to the BCC & the same quality & type, how lucky to have breed 3 such lovely, typical Gordons in one litter! has the same lovely head & expression, neck, shoulder & topline with well set tail carried well, well boned legs & feet, good ribcage & loin, put down in excellent coat & condition, boy how he has come on since the last time I judged him, he is now a champion & well deserved, he is balanced & quality & moved so well to win his place here, beating his brother & going on to take the RCC; 3 H Cooper King. SBD/B (2,1) 1 G Blue Marlin.
VB (0) MPB (2) 1 Sweryda's Waseley Hazy Dayz, mature 8 ½ months old, litter sister to the MPD, just right for age but such a lovely type with so much potential but just right for age. Needs to finish eventually but she has good balance & lovely body proportions, just the right size with a nice puppy coat, pretty head & expression, well made forequarters & good topline & well set tail, moved so well on well boned legs & feet, I am sure if she continues as she is going she has a future & I am sure she will have any good classes swopping places with 2 many times! Maturity took her to win the class & BP; 2 Sandiford's Hernwood Superstition, what a yummy baby, she just made me smile with her attitude & joy of life, showed so well when she decided to behave, I just loved her & I can see her future. Well schooled to show off her good points from her pretty head & expression right down to her tail. Profile movement was very good for she has a good forequarter, well boned legs & feet & good head carriage, in lovely coat & condition, can't wait to follow these 2's progress. PB (2) 1, 2 repeat. JB (2) 2 Marsh's Kilnrae Back To The Future JW, no mistaking her sex, she is so very feminine yet looks as if she could do a day's work, such a feminine head & expression with a good well coloured eye, well set ears & an excellent neck & shoulders, good topline & tailset, good width between front legs & nice ribcage & strong loin, lacking coat but wasn't hiding any faults, she is well boned all through & balanced & her handler got the best movement from her, lovely type & when her adult coat comes through will trouble the best; 2 Smith's Kewstoke Sea Queen Zena, feminine girl who wasn't happy today at my first look but after letting her move she let me go over her, again when she settled she moved well, has lots to like in her pretty head & expression, overall body shape, in good coat & condition. Perservere, perhaps she is due in season for once she got over her worries, she was fine. YB (4,2) 1 Phillips & Watkins' Flaxheath Cover Girl at Glenmaurangi JW, an absolute stunning youngster who is so well made althrough, now I see who her Dad was I can understand why she appealed so much as she is out of another that I have liked before. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree & this certainly applies to this youngster, her excellent coat was well presented, her feminine head & expression appealed & just needs to finish to complete the look, excellent neck & forequarters, good topline & depth & width of ribcage, strong loin & well set & carried tail. Moved so effortlessly on well boned legs & feet, she is quality & so balanced. Just needs maturity to finish the picture & then she will trouble the best, she is quality & with lovely muscletone; 2 Hardy's Cafotaliena All Eyes On Me, slightly smaller bitch who is still correct, still young & finish maturity to complete the picture, feminine head & expression, still loose in front but there is still time to tighten up for she is fine in profile with a good head carriage keeping a good topline & well carried tail, good footfall from well boned legs & feet, her coat has been put down in lovely condition & presentation. NB (0) PGB (1) 1 Hardy's Cafotaliena Hello My Love, although alone could win anywhere for she was well handled to get the best from her & she is typical & very feminine, a nice type who was well coated & well presented, pretty feminine head & expression with a good eye & well set & carried ears, good proportions with just enough depth, good neck & shoulders, she is balanced & moved with ease covering the ground with purpose at just the right pace. LB (7, 2) 1 O'Kelly & Hancock's Caradilis Sparks Will Fly JW, didn't recognise this typical Gordon Setter but she just kept calling me back for her correctness, type & balance, this lovely free moving girl has a pretty head & is well coated, but her profile movement catches your eye when she moves so effortlessly. well marked & I now see that she won MPB under me last time I judged only being beaten by the PB who turned out to be today's BCC! So pleased to see she has fulfilled her early promise & I was please to give her the RCC today; 2 Thomas' Glynderys Moonstone, again another I had placed well before & the same applies as last time only now she is fully mature, very workmanlike & slightly heavier but she moved well to take her place in this strong class, put down in excellent coat & condition, nice head & expression, good neck & shoulders, strong topline & tailset, well boned legs & feet, good ribcage & strong loin, excellent hindquarters, pleased to see her development; 3 Smith's Amscot Air Born via Kewstoke. OB (4) 1 Sandiford & Lewis' Sh Ch Hernwood Gin Fizz JW, last time I saw this girl in the breed she took BP under me! Litter sister to the boys & the same quality & breed type, so very feminine you couldn't miss her sex, beautiful head & expression, put down to the minute accentuating all her good points from her excellent neck & shoulders, topline & tailset, excellent hindquarters, when she was set up you could see her saying “Who Is Second?” When she moved, she gives you goosebumps, she is precise with excellent footfall with well boned legs & correct feet, she covers the ground with such style that I kept making her move more so that I could enjoy the picture. She is quality & she is balanced & a good size. CC for her type, quality & ring presence; 2 Upton-Lovett & Upton's Roydack Portrait Of A Lady, a different type to 1 & slightly different in head proportions but still very feminine. Very unfortunate to meet 1 in such form today for this girl is still an excellent type who was put down in the best coat & condition, her presentation is to be admired, she is balanced with a good topline & tailset, good, well muscled hindquarters used to advantage to really power her round the ring, good width & depth of ribcage with a strong loin to complete the picture, well boned legs & feet.
