Australian Shepherds

First I must wish Mrs Angier a speedy recover & hope they will give her another chance to judge this wonderful breed again at such an excellent show. Thank you too to my stewards who kept me in line to ensure we finished in time for the group. Last but not least thank you to the exhibitors who so kindly accepted me as the replacement judge. Who would have thought all those years ago when I judged the early rally that eventually I would be judging at the best show in the world.

Praise to the exhibitors for the presentation of their charges, my hands at the end of the day were as clean as at the beginning. Just need to mention that mouths need watching, it can change the shape of the face & pigmentation also need a close eye on. But overall it was a wonderful entry of top quality dogs. The sportsmanship was second to none ensuring that I enjoyed my day as much as you.

VD (7,4a) 1 Roberts’ Moves Like Jagger Elvikam of Dreamtale VW (Imp Pol), when he came into the ring he oozed presence, no mistaking his sex for he is full size & his swagger & style just stole the class. This well coated black tri boy of 9 really used the ring to advantage & covered the ground with ease, his coat was well presented & his head & expression was very typical with a good eye & pigment, won the class & BVD with his type & attitude; 2 Wright’s Fraytal Corsairy Casch at Razkiah, a r/m white & copper trim of 8 was also a good mover on well boned legs & feet, again excellent presentation making the most of his good outline, masculine head & expression, ears ok, not an overlarge dog but he is balanced & showed well; 3 McKinnon’s Dialynne Enzo Farrari, r/tri who was not so settled on the move today but a lovely type who didn’t quite have the presence of 1 or 2 but showed well for his handler when he settled, again excellent presentation & a balanced head & good neck. MPD (0) PD (4) 1 Martin’s Vegas Blackjack of Baiwells Royal Aussies, nearly 10 months old & just right for age, this workmanlike tri has enough bone for size & age, not overdone throughout with a correct head for age with a well shaped & coloured eye, growing into his ears but he has a good neck & topline with a good croup & well made hindquarters, just needs to finish as he is still loose in movement but in profile he covers the ring well with correct footfall, he was the best mover in the class today so hence he was rewarded with the win; 2 Myall’s Altussi Incognito, just a couple of day short of a year & he still needs time for maturity, at present he is slightly longer but that should pull together with age, when he fills out & grows his mature coat I think he will be a different dog, shows promise & moves well to take his place for he has a typical head which needs to finish with a good eye & correct muzzle, neck, topline & loin; 3 Harris’ Acotar Suriel via Draconis at Teldrassil (Imp Cze), r/m boy who was put down in excellent coat & condition, naturally tailless & this appears to give him good balance & he moved well on well boned legs & feet, attractive head & expression enhanced by well set & placed ears, good neck & shoulders OK too, just needs time for he is only 10 months old.JD (11,3) 1 Rosetti’s Stronghold Kennel Hall of Fame, black tri masculine dog who is very mature, what a mover, he caught my eye on the first run round & kept calling me back with his type & presentation, he was put down to the minute with his correct coat covering his well made body, masculine head & expression with the correct eye shape & colour, good head proportions, correct neck & shoulders, strong topline held set up & moving, he is balanced & quality with his tailless hindquarters used to advantage to cover the ground; 2 Serenari’s Incantations of Twilight Goosebumps, what a super class with 1 & 2 very close up giving me lots to think about, this r/w strong boy is top quality & would obviously be an ‘excellent’ if it was abroad, he is well coated & his coat was beautifully prepared & is of the correct texture, excellent head & expression with a good eye & well placed ears which were used to his advantage, where he came alive was on the move, with such purpose & drive to really cover the ring with style.
