AFFENPINSCHERS

I always enjoy judging Affenpinschers…full of fun and don’t take themselves too seriously.

PD (2)

1 Shennan’s Ashiblack King Of Swing

A super puppy to kick off proceedings. 9 months old and at his first ch show. Bags of confidence and was easy to assess. Handsome head with round, dark eyes full of devilment. Good turn up. Rough coat texture and round feet. Stands naturally showing off his impressive balanced outline with mild angulation front and rear. Level back with high set tail that wafted over back and gave a pleasing profile. Stepped out with style with correct lift. Awarded his sire Ch Ashiblack Pearly King for Balata the RCC on my first judging appointment in 2023 and I see my bitch CC winner is also by him. The baton is being passed on. Like the monkey song he is “King of the swingers”. Best Puppy in Breed and went on to success in the Toy Puppy Group.

2 Wiggin’s Buffels Schwarz Spinne With Scapafield.

A sweet boy who although older seemed babyish compared to winner and less mature in body. Lovely nature and his outgoing personality and bright shining eyes appealed. Presents nice outline in profile. Patience needed as he is raw but promising.

JD (6) Ab 1

1 Stewart & Boulcott’s Sugarlane Gibbonback.

CC and Best of Breed. A striking boy only 14 months old who didn’t put a foot wrong and pulled out all the stops in an attempt to impress and he did. I will resist quoting the breed standard but it is sufficient to say he satisfied in so many ways. Monkey face features all combined to make up a lush expression. Twinkly dark eyes full of character. Ears set high, good chin. Neck shoulders and top line blended well and outline was finished off with mild rear angulation and nicely set tail. Natural harsh coat covered a sturdy body. Away and back was super sound and side gait equally convincing. He looked good and he knew it. Well grown but his balance and proportions are spot on. Excited for his owner and breeder.

2 Elding’s Inky Angus

So typical in head with cheeky expression. Decent length of neck and firm sturdy body. Bristly coat. Coming towards me he impressed with tidy, tucked in elbows and good lift seen in profile. Just a tad closer behind than winner. A handsome boy who will always warrant a second look.

PGD (4)

1 Panton’s Guereza Goody Goody Yum Yum.

Won this class with a little to spare and had lots to like. Quite the looker with dark, twinkling eyes set far enough apart and created a pleasing triangle with nose. Very willing showman and impressed both standing and in motion. Short backed with good ribs and front and rear angulation complimented each other to allow freedom of movement. Tail set high with good carriage. Rough textured coat. I liked this boy a lot. Tough competition but just needs to be in the right place at the right time and I could see him carry a title.

2 Dowsett’s Riogaioch King Of Kings At Tteswood

Friendly boy who gave a good account of himself. Typical head properties with impish expression and plenty of breadth over brow Nice size and stood showing balanced outline. Good ribbing. Texture of coat harsh as it should be. Sympathetically handled with good rapport.

3 Toohey’s Dinahtron The Rock

Res Mumby’s Carmichan Impromptu

 LD (5)

1 McEvoy & Pirrie’s Afterglow Bat In The Belfry For Guereza

Eye catching boy with good ring presence who showed so well. Easy on the eye with gorgeous monkey like expression made up of dark eyes full of cheek, evident stop and good turn up. Neatly made with short back and rounded rib cage. Has super posture and strutted well holding a firm back line and correct tail carriage. Presented in super coat and condition and was unlucky to have to settle for the RCC. His day will come. Exhibitors who keep the bar raised.

2 Macdonald’s Ashiblack Benjamin Button At Zondora

Nice looking little dog who pushed 1 all the way. Appealing head properties with animated dark eyes and wide open nostrils. Muzzle finish good. Harsh textured coat. Ratio of height to length appealed. Well sprung ribs. Liked his profile on the go around with level topline and wafting tail. No disgrace to come second and another worthy of top honours.

VD (1)

1 Currie’s Ch Orlock Evernight For Faehat Sh.CM VW

What a trooper. A 13 year old boy whose wagging tail indicated he was clearly enjoying his day out. Still had that breed twinkle in his eyes. Harsh coat covered a neatly made body with topline still firm as he trotted around the ring with tail carried correctly. Here’s to many more outings.

MPB (1)

1 Cairns’ Xora Of The Forest Moon At Galicar

Just starting her show career and at 6 months took it all in her stride. Broad skull, twinkly dark eyes, high set ears combined to make a typical head and expression. Plenty of self belief and she strutted around the ring with plenty of lift and a level topline and tidy tail. Her enthusiasm was a joy to watch.

PB (5)

1 Callow’s Buffels Tyme An Tyde

Almost a year old and more mature than the other fledglings so had the advantage. Monkey faced with dark eyes and mischievous expression. Good balanced outline and covered the ground in an accurate fashion. Good coat texture

2 Hick’s Datiro Forgibbon Forget

One of three litter sisters here today and this was the naughtiest, but I liked her. Quite babyish but at 10 months her foundations are sound and she felt good on the table, that is when she stayed still. Such a cheeky wee monkey who gave her handler a hard time. Fun to watch but hard to assess. Scored for size and face features. Will watch her progress.

 JB (8) Abs 2

1 McGroarty’s Carycares Wilhelmina Ardhub

Caught my eye on the initial go around and she stayed in my mind into the challenge. Had most of the ingredients I was looking for. Small, pretty, monkey features and well put together. Liked her outline in repose showing off her moderate angles and she looked good on the move. Head high, level topline and high set tail. Rough coat. Only 14 months old so is still maturing but on this performance should continue to do well. Had lots of style and was a wagger. RCC

2 Pirrie, McEvoy & Isherwood’s Bourntwyn Honey I'm Home At Afterglow TAF

A bit unsure at the start but her confidence grew as the class progressed. If she can relax and learn to enjoy herself, could do all right as she has much to like. Nice type and good for size. Fetching face features with bright eyes.

3 Currie’s Faehat Halo

Res McGuiness & Nelson’s Dinahtron Nickaboca Gloria

 PGB (6) Abs 2

1 Pirrie & McEvoy’s Guereza Queen Of The Fairies

What’s not to like about this youngster? Another junior miss only 16 months old and had a stunning outline with height to length ratio as required. A glamour girl with a sweet face and eyes that were bright and alert. Correct coat. Not just a pretty face but soundly constructed also. Very sure of herself and her movement was accurate and she stepped out with plenty of lift. CC today, her first, with more in store for sure.

2 Merrett’s Venustus Emma Dale

Nice sunny outlook and this girl had honest to goodness qualities with no glaring faults. Pleasing head and expression. Good ratio of height to length. Harsh coat. Looked good as she circled the ring. Matching angles front and rear allowed a smooth action

3 Cary’s Carycares Launna

Res McGuinness & Nelson’s Dinahtron Honey Ryder

LB (8) Abs 2

1 Currie’s Faehat Percher

Loved the attitude of this girl so switched on and very amiable. Pretty monkey expression Tidy body shape with good bone to match her frame. Sufficient harsh furnishings. Soundly made throughout with good balance and out moved the rest of the class to win

2 Price & McGroarty’s Afterglow Nora Batty Of Kircyan

Ultra feminine with the sweetest expression and animated outlook. Very showy. Super head properties with dark, round eyes, open nostrils and good dentition. Tidy body shape with level topline. Coat was black and harsh. Not going so well as winner.

3 Harrison’s Scapafield Schwarz Swyft

Res Callow’s Scapafield Schwarz Siskin

OB (4) Abs 2

1 Cairns’ Ch Afterglow Greta Garbage At Galicar. We met before two years ago when she was just out of puppy. I am glad she has fulfilled her potential and gained her title. A nicely sized, pretty girl with animated expression from round, dark eyes. She smiled at me and had a friendly attitude. Steady mover with complimentary angles front and rear. Plenty of furnishings. When standing dipped slightly behind withers and that detracted.

2 Harrison’s Yorcrechi In Your Dreams To Kingshaven

A very sweet natured girl but was not so relaxed as winner and was dropping her tail from time to time. Appealing expression and she was good for size and in nice coat. Decent mover. Just needs more self belief.
