The Beagle Association Championship Show

1 November 2025

Thanks to the Beagle Association for inviting me to judge and to my two very efficient stewards Neil Stevens and Lynn Richmond. Sadly the overall quality of beagle being shown has declined but I was very pleased with my top winners and had no hesitation in giving out the top awards. Two issues I feel must be watched are eye colour, the standard calls for hazel or dark hazel, lighter eyes completely spoil the soft expression required for a beagle, the second issue is feet, long (hare) feet which lack knuckling and padding and big spready feet seem to be creeping in, feet should be tight and firm, well knuckled and padded. Some foot shapes were not helped by nails being too long.
