Birmingham Dog Show Society Ltd

Breed: Saluki

Many thanks to the Society for the invitation to Judge and to my stewards. I was pleased with the quality of the entry and we had a good sized ring. After all the warm weather, It was a cold and windy morning which affected some. Temperaments were good and movement was generally sound. There were some promising youngsters and I wish them success in their show careers. A little mention too for Don Everton who was the master of finances of the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club for so many years and was celebrating his 91st Birthday. Thank you Don.

1st Strong’s Xerxes Omar Ter Dolen (imp Bel) Really lovely black fringed red puppy. He has a lovely head and expression, long neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest, good topline and moderate hind angulation, sound, flowing and effortless movement completed the picture. Very promising. BEST PUPPY.

2nd McLatchie’s Artilily Hemingway Attractive tri who has a lovely head, long neck, good overall angulation and moved steadily. Narrower throughout than 1st and will take time to come to his best.

3rd Ince’s Artilily Wilde.

PGD (1)

1ST Thomas’s Sincerity Kalimantan Cashar JW (Imp Fin) Most attractive dark grizzle, very nice head and gentle expression, smooth flowing outline with good topline and deep brisket, falls away gently over the pelvis to a low set tail, nice angulation, a moderate dog who appeals for his overall flow and balance, moved quite well. To be picky, I would like a bit more slope to pastern, but he has correct feet.

LD (3) 1

1st Pyatt and Cotterill’s, Wazifi Alsasha Abda. This is an extremely nice black fringed red who was a strong contender for the CC, so much to like about him, and he reminded me of the Burydown/ Almanza lines of the past. Has a lovely head and farseeing expression, excellent anglulation throughout, nice topline with rise over the loin, deep brisket, especially liked his low hocks and his easy sound movement. Should easily gain his title.

2nd Hepburn’s Qatiifah Dahr Damyar At Azaba (imp Nor) Nicely constructed and moderate golden, very different type to first but fits the standard well, nice head, overall angulation, depth of brisket and topline, also moved very soundly with lightness and lift.

1ST Aldous and Glaister’s Ch Jay JP Sea Bird El Panjsher JW (Imp Jap). Lovely quality cream, who I gave rcc to last time I judged. Now fully mature and well deserving of his many successes. His head shows great quality and he has a lovely expression and long , well set mobile ears, long neck, lovely front and feet, well developed first and second thigh without being overdone in anyway, flowing, correct topline and deep brisket. In excellent condition, with strong smooth muscles, he is a really lovely mover, being so sound and light CCBOB.

2nd Brady’s Ch Classicus Azim for Bordercot. This beautiful red grizzle, made for a difficult choice. He has a really lovely head and expression, well set profusely fringed ears, neck flows into excellent shoulders and front construction, sloping pasterns and good feet, lovely outline, deep brisket, moderate strong quarters, low set, long tail, his movement is so easy, sound and light on his feet RCC, BV and Vet Group 4. I discovered that I later awarded the CC to his daughter and CCBOB to another daughter the last time I judged.

3rd Harding and Cowley’s Ch Classicus Odysseus at Ashahni.

SBB (2)1

1st Price’s Waady Al Jamila Taher B/T, very nice head and expression, framed by well set and fringed ears, needs to tighten in front and I would like less hind angulation. Moved well in profile.

PB (4) 1. These were three nice puppies

1st Bryla’s Ravensett La Duquesa. Very appealing red/gold, still has some maturing and filling out to do as you would expect, but I felt she has lots of potential, lovely head and gentle expression, already framed with long, silky fringes, long neck into good forehand, her topline flows to very nice quarters with balanced first and second thigh and low hocks, she moved soundly with light, lifting strides.

2nd Hamilton’s Artilily Bronte, another promising puppy, silver grizzle with a lovely head and expression, long neck, well ribbed back with a very nice topline and hind angulation, happy and confident, she moved very well.

3rd Warner and Hetherington’s Savuka Shakira.

PGB (4)2

1st Davies’s Zafaraniyeh Dashte Margo B/T Has a very feminine, well balanced head , long neck into well laid shoulder, lovely pasterns and feet, very nice topline flowing into gentle slope of pelvis, and well balanced hind angulation with low hocks, in excellent condition and definitely one that gives the impression of great speed and endurance, moved freely around the ring, but just picked up her feet a little coming towards me, at times.

2nd Price’s Waady Al Jamila Taher.

LB (7) 1

1st Mackenzie Loughran’s Classicus Ophelia Lovely golden and cream bitch, it was definitely her day today and she appealed for her femininity and quality, has a lovely head and gentle expression, long neck flowing into good forehand, sloping pasterns and good feet, good topline, low set tail, well developed first and second thigh, low hocks, moved extremely well. Pleased to award her the CC.

2nd Evertons Savuka Rashiqah with Kasra. Lovely mature red, she has a nice head and expression, very nice angulation, topline, depth of brisket and moderate quarters, her movement is very true and light. Just a little unsettled today, so I did not see her at her best.

3rd Sanders Parker and ReVay’s Era Lilian Giliath Classicus (Imp Cze) JW

OPEN (4)

1st Ayrton and Forte’s Chisobee Faa Ig Farraar of Allievo A very elegant b/t of lovely breed type, her outline is smooth and flowing, with all the curves in the right place, beautiful head with farseeing expression, good ear set and underjaw, long neck into good shoulder and upper arm angulation, lovely feet, deep ribcage and strong loin, excellent topline and hind angulation, light, lifting and sound movement. RCC in a very close decision. I understand she has 2ccs and would be well deserving of her title.

2nd Fisher’s Ruweis Mahnisa. This pale cream is another lovely bitch, has a lovely head and expression, her strong neck flows into a very good front, has a flowing topline, deep ribcage and strong loin, smooth, gentle slope over the pelvis to a low set tail, excellent hind angulation and moved very well when settled. She was just carrying a little extra weight on the day.

3rd Davies’s Ch Classicus Alchemy for Charrioak JW
