The Dachshund Club CH Show 15th November 2025 – Miniature Wire-haired Dachshunds

I would like to extend a huge thank you to The Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge at their CH Show. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries. I had a wonderful day and there were many quality dogs to go over.as well as some tough decisions. In addition, I would like to extend a huge thank you to my very efficient stewards Suzanne Crow and Andrew Whitfield-Roberst.

I found some very dirty teeth, especially when you look on the side, some exhibits were clearly oversized and overweight. Coming from working hound background, construction for me always comes first. The hind angulation was lacking in quite a few, this was clearly visible on the move when there was no drive from the back. For what is a working hound breed, the engine room needs to be correct to produce the power and drive.

5 mth old lovely compact bitch. Pleasing head, correct eye and ear set. Good length of neck. Correct front assembly. Well ribbed and good hind angulation. Happy little girl. Moved well. BBPIB

2nd Ms M Coveney’s Templestow Margareta

4 mth old little tinker. Feminine head. Good length of neck flowing to good shoulders, keel needs to develop, as does the ribbing, good hind angulation. Moved and handled well.

1 yr old bitch of good proportions. Pleasing feminine head. Good length of neck flowing to good shoulders. Good length of keel and ribbing. Moved well holding a good topline.

2nd Ms T Sieminski’s Dajean Surely a Vison JW

2.5 yr old bitch very similar to first. Very balanced, pleasing outline. Good length of keel and ribbing. Held a good topline on the move. Preferred movement of 1st.

6 mth old bitch of lovely size and balance and proportions. Feminine head, good length of neck. Well placed shoulders, tight feet. Well ribbed back. Short loin. Correct hind angulation. Moved well holding a good topline. BPB

6 mth old bitch, well balanced and correct proportions. Feminine head, Good length of neck, good front assembly. Short loin, good hind angulation. Good topline held on the move.

17 mth old compact bitch of good proportions and correct ground clearance. Typey feminine head, Good length of neck, good forechest. Well placed shoulders, good return of upper arm. Good length of ribbing and short loin. Well angulated hind quarters. Moved with reach and drive

2nd Mr R & Mrs A O’Connell’s Almarxils Flamenco Dancer at Llennocor

16 mth old lovely well-balanced bitch. Pleasing outline. Feminine head, lovey dark pigmentation. Well laid shoulders. Good length and depth of ribbing. Moved well with reach and drive. Just needs more confidence and she should have a bright future.

3,5 yr old bitch of nice size and proportions. Pleasing feminine head, correct eye set. Good length of neck and well-placed shoulders. Good hind angulation. Moved well with good topline.

2nd Messer’s Flowers & Smith’s BingoBongo’s Alpinista

3 yr old bitch of good proportions, lighter built than 1st. Pleasing balanced outline. Well ribbed and good depth of keel. Moved well holding a good topline.

Post Graduate Bitch: (11,0)

2.5 yr old bitch. Very balanced, pleasing outline. Good length of neck flowing to good front assembly. Good length of keel and ribbing. Held a good topline on the move

2nd Mr T & Mrs B Hayward’s Foxearth Time Fly’s

18 mth old nice compact bitch of good proportions. Pleasing feminine head. Good front and length ribbing moved well.

1st Mrs M Dance’s Emem Hazel Sunshine JW

2.5 yr old lovely well-balanced bitch with good ground clearance. Correct front assembly, feminine head. Good length of neck, correct lay of shoulders. Well ribbed back, nice short loin. Immaculate top line. Moved with reach and drive.

2nd Mrs S Jones’ Bimini Moonlight

1.5 yr old bitch of correct proportions. Correct front assembly, good length of ribbing and keel, slightly over angulated for me. Moved well with purpose, holding a good topline.

Open Bitch: (6,1)

1st Mrs R Mullen’s Rozelle Kamiras Year

6.5 yr old bitch with striking outline. Well balanced and proportioned bitch. Not over exaggerated. Beautiful feminine head, good length of neck flowing to correctly placed shoulders. Well ribbed back, nice short loin. Correct hind angulation. Moved true with reach and drive, holding an immaculate topline all the way through. I was absolutely chuffed to see her go BIS. BOB & BIS

2nd Mrs Z Thorn Andrew’s CH Drakesleat Hear no Evil

3 yr old well-proportioned bitch. Feminine head, good length of neck flowing to correctly placed shoulders. Well ribbed and nice short keel. Moves out well, just a little bit fidgety today for me.

Veteran Bitch: (4,0)

1st Miss G McFarlan’s Granhoward Lilly

9 yr old compact little bitch of good proportions, nice clean mouth and teeth. Pleasing feminine head. Well angulated with good upper arm. Moved well and clearly still enjoying her time in the ring. Credit to the owner.

2nd: Mrs P Brown’s Lunabaia Lily of the Valley

7 yr old nicely built bitch. Pleasing outline. Feminine head with dark eyes Good length of ribbing and keel. Good turn of stifle, moved well.
