French Bulldogs

Thank you to the Ladies Kennel Association for inviting me to judge French Bulldogs, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. A big thank you must go to my two stewards especially Barbara Morrison who stepped in at the last minute. I would also like to thank the exhibitors who entered their dogs, it was a pleasure to go over them all.

We all know that French Bulldogs are very much in the spotlight and the future of our beloved breed is under threat. Having said that I was so pleased to see that in our small show community there were no signs of any breathing issues, all the dogs seemed happy and healthy, a credit to you all.

I am sure this has been mentioned in other judge’s preamble, but there is a lack of correct topline, quite a few flat or sloping from the withers to the tail, not correct for our breed. Narrow muzzles were another one that stood out for me. But there was also lots to like about many of the exhibits today.
