CRUFTS 6-9 MARCH 2025

Please accept my sincere apologies for the late submission of my Crufts critique.

Being entrusted with what is truly a once-in-a lifetime appointment was a great honour and I regret deeply that my submission was not delivered within the expected timeframe. Unfortunately, the period immediately following Crufts has been and still is an exceptionally difficult and distressing time in my personal life. This has significantly affected myself forcing me to withdraw from not only judging but showing at this present time. The impact affected my ability to complete and submit my critique as promptly as I would have wished.

This explanation is offered not as an excuse, but in the hope of providing context. I remain profoundly grateful for the opportunity I was given and I take the responsibility associated with such an appointment extremely seriously.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and for exhibiting so many wonderful dogs on that special day.

A distinguished male who belies his years, presented in excellent condition and clearly enjoying his day. Still retains the strength and quality that has served him well throughout his show career. Pleasing head and expression with correct ear set, well proportioned body with firm topline and good depth of chest. Strong well angulated quarters and smooth effortless gait. Worthy winner of a strong veteran class. RCC

2nd NATIVESPIRIT LEGACY, CRUTTENDEN & POINTER MISS K & MR M.

Another quality male not long into Veteran career presenting a pleasing overall outline and typical breed type. Well made with good bone and substance, though slightly heavier than the class winner. Head of good proportions, strong neck but chest not developed as one. Moved out soundly with good drive, a worthy second placing in such a strong class.

Attractive young male of pleasing proportions, typical outline and of good breed type. Head developing nicely, good ear set and carriage. Well angulated and parallel front, moving well once settled. A little loose in front as expected at this age but should tighten with maturity. A very promising youngster with a bright future ahead.

At ten months old, balanced throughout and well proportioned. Head developing nicely with a kind, alert expression and a good ear set. Well angulated front and rear. Another nice put together puppy with good all round proportions. Parallel front and rear and nicely angulated. Moved well just not as good as the class winner. Presented and handled well.

Striking black and white male of excellent type and proportions. Lovely masculine head with correct planes, well set ears and keen expression. Balanced throughout with firm topline and excellent angulation front and rear. Once settled he moved freely and showing effortless stride typical of the breed. Immaculate coat and, beautifully presented and handled. Quality young boy.

2nd SNOWMIST’S ELI AT LOLOTEA (IMP CAN), TINKER MRS K

Not long out of puppy. Pleasing proportions and overall nicely balanced. Presents a clean outline with level topline, sound construction and nicely angulated. Movement was light and free covering the ground well. Not quite the overall finish of class winner however maturing nicely.

Muzzle a touch shorter than ideal but balanced by good skull proportions. Well angulated front and rear with firm level topline. In good coat, handled well moving with purpose and drive to take first place.

Red and white male in super condition. Lovely head with pleasing expression. Strong topline with clear overall outline. Nice parallel front and rear with good angulation. Presented in super condition and handled well. Moved well.

3 year old male of good proportion, pleasing angulation and well balanced. Presents a typical outline, though I would prefer a little more length of leg to enhance the overall look. Moved well in a strong class to take a deserved 2nd placing.

Black and white male presenting a lovely balanced outline. A pleasing head with good ear set and size, correct eye and typical expression. Of good proportion, strong level topline and nicely parallel to front and rear. Excellent overall construction, which he used to his full advantage moving free and effortless. A sound well made boy, and worthy winner of this quality open class and in addition DCC.

2nd CH SNOWMISTS ULTIMATUM (IMP CAN), SIMMS MRS R J & MR D A

Another quality boy nearing 5 years of age, maturing nicely. Again, presenting a lovely outline, good proportions throughout and well angulated and parallel to front and rear. Everything in its place giving a smooth sound gait around the ring, matching the class winner stride for stride. Splitting hairs between first and second place, a very close decision that could easily be reversed on another day between these two quality dogs.

7 year old boy who moved well for his age maintaining soundness and balance on the move. Presenting a pleasing outline with typical breed characteristics. In full coat, could benefit from a touch less weight to further enhance his overall shape and movement, yet in proportion.

2nd ELLEONIA NO MATTER WHAT, GRICE MISS S J

Male at the upper range of the standard, pleasing head and expression though ears are touch wide for my liking. Front a little out at present, would prefer more angulation to forequarters for overall balance moved well.

Lovely 8 ½ year old girl in excellent condition. Full of life and quality. Present and lively, alert expression with a pleasing head of typical breed type. Parallel front and rear, nicely proportioned and well angulated throughout. Expertly handled to advantage moving freely and with sound effortless stride. Credit to this owner.

2nd AMICAL SWITCHED ON AT LASKAKOVA, KENNEDY MRS I

Minor differences between 1 and 2, slightly finer in construction than the winner but still a quality exhibit. Rear not quite as strong as first yet overall well-balanced with pleasing breed type, beautifully presented and handled with skill to show at her best.

Quiet young girl at 8 ½ months old, lacking in coat today all round proportions were good giving a pleasing outline. Nicely put together head with pleasing expression. Parallel front and rear but possibly a little too angulated to the front. Moved well.

Nearly 12 months old and shown in excellent condition. Lovely overall balance with good proportions and angulation, though would just prefer a touch more angulation in the front quarters to complete the picture. Promising youngster with bright future ahead.

Another lovely puppy and credit to her owners. Lovely outline, great angulation, rear movement not as good as 1, would like to hope this will improve with time, lovely head with pleasing expression. Just an all round nice puppy.

2nd STORMIND’S BREAKING DOWN (IMP ITA), WHATSLEY MISS S

Another lovely example of breed type little younger than the winner but brimming with confidence. Lovely head with pleasing expression. Parallel front and rear giving correct proportions. Pleasing outline. Not much to split first and second. Just felt today first took top honours, roles could easily reverse on a different day.

A superb example of the breed with a very fitting name. Presented in stunning condition and handled well. Feminine yet strong, displaying correct balance and proportion throughout. Beautifully constructed with a clean well muscled outline. Head of great shape and proportion, with a soft expression. Well set ears and almond shaped eyes, movement outstanding. A credit to the breeder and handler, most deserving the bitch CC and Best of Breed.

A hard decision between first and second placing as two very nice examples of the breed. These placings could so easily be reversed on another day. Again, presented in excellent condition. Well proportioned, lovely feminine head with correct ear set. Great angulation throughout presenting a pleasing outline. Movement was free and easy covering ground well.

Just prefer a touch more angulation to front. However, was still able to move free and easy round the ring. Presented in great condition and handled well.

Nice to see young handlers overcome the pressure of handling at Crufts. Nice bitch well presented and in good condition displays typical breed characteristics with balanced outline, good proportions and pleasing feminine head movement is sound, coat of correct texture. Handled very competently by this young handler showing maturity and confidence. Promising team.

5 years grey/white, lovely feminine head with correct ear size and placement, prefer a little more length of the neck to strengthen proportions. Strong topline, parallel front and rear with good angulation. In full coat that was giving impression carrying weight, but clearly not. Moved well to win the class.

Another young handler doing an amazing job at handling her 3 ½ year red and white girl. Nice feminine head with good ear size and placement correct eye, strong level topline, parallel front and rear. Prefer just a touch less angulation to four quarters, and a touch more length of leg but well proportioned as she is. Moved well out and back, lovely team working together, handler and dog.

Expression is keen and intelligent with well set eyes. Clean and good length to neck, parallel front and rear with pleasing body proportions. Coat is correct and well presented, covers ground well.

Attractive, feminine bitch of good type, presented in excellent condition. Balanced, with correct proportions giving a clean athletic outline. Her head is well shaped with correctly proportioned muzzle. Pleasing fore and rear, nicely angulated and parallel. Overall quality girl who moved freely and efficient maintaining a steady topline.

A young grey/white girl similar size and shape to one. Topline not as strong as winner, and sadly out of coat today. Nicely proportioned head, good ear set and nice almond eye. Parallel front and rear, well angulated with reach and drive covering ground well.
