Manchu Shih Tzu Society Championship Show Sunday 13th April 2025

 I would firstly like to thank the Committee of the Manchu Shih Tzu Society for offering me this appointment. I would also like to thank my Steward on the day Sharon, for her assistance in ensuring the smooth running of the ring and finally I would like to thank the exhibitors who entered under me, some of whom travelled very long distances, and for the sporting way they accepted my decisions. There still appears to be a considerable variance in the size and type of some exhibits and, in some, narrow fronts and chests were also in evidence, all of which detracts from the breed type we are looking for. However, overall I was pleased with my line ups in the dogs and bitches and was delighted with my main winners.

 1. Brown & Iley’s Hin Chen’s Mount Everest (Imp Nor) - 11 month old G&W heavily coated dog. He has a broad head with a well set round dark eye, a wide square muzzle and tip tilted nose, all giving a lovely warm masculine expression. A good neck leading into well laid back shoulders and broad deep chest with good bone. Well set and carried tail which give a balanced outline both standing and on the move. He has a level topline and moved well with drive showing full rear pad. Delighted to award him BPIS and I am sure he will do well as he matures.

 2. Stevenson’s Shenleyvale Fifty Shades Of Orange – 10 month old Gold dog with Black mask. Masculine expression with a broad head, a dark eye and good width of muzzle. Ample reach of neck and laid back shoulders, with a broad chest. Level topline and well set tail giving a balanced outline. Moved well with drive.

 1. Crossley’s Santosha Night Shade – 15 mth old B&W dog with a good broad head, square wide muzzle, dark round eye and correct stop. Good reach of neck and laid back shoulders. Broad chest and good bone. Nicely angulated rear with a level topline when standing and on the move. After settling, he moved well around the ring with reach and drive.

 2. Paczkowski & Cannon’s Ta Maria Beyond Unique (Imp Fin) – 14 mth old G&W dog with a masculine expression. He has a broad head, dark round eye, correct stop and a wide square muzzle. Ample reach of neck and a broad and deep chest. He has a level topline, a well set and carried tail and moved well with reach and drive.

 1. Bowns Matsonic Midnight Storm Over Bishbow - Solid Black 19 mth old dog of smaller type. Good broad head, dark round eye and wide square muzzle, nicely angulated neck, a wide front and broad chest. Well carried tail giving a balanced outline. Moved well with drive, showing full pad. 

 2. Finnanger’s Hin Chen’s Lucky Lionheart – 19 month old G&W dog with good bone, dark eye and a broad masculine head. Well laid back shoulders, broad deep chest giving good width to front. Balanced outline, standing and on the move with a well carried tail. ND 1(0) 1. Tod’s Ethelsmead Half A Sixpence At Kengai - G&W 17 mth old dog. Masculine expression with a broad head and wide muzzle. Ample width to chest and front, level topline with a well set and carried tail, well angulated rear, giving a balanced outline. Moved well with drive.

 1. Clifford’s Cedarhythe Dark Destiny – B&W 3 yr old dog. He has a broad head, wide jaw, dark eye and correct stop, giving a masculine arrogant expression. Broad Chest with good width to front. Level topline and correct set and carried tail, giving a balanced outline, moved around the ring with reach and drive showing full pad.

 2. Gardner’s Ethelsmead True Grit – 3 year old G&W dog. He has a broad head with a masculine expression, dark eye and good width to muzzle. Broad chest and front with good bone and well laid back shoulders and nicely angulated rear. On the day, I just preferred the movement of 1.

 1. Turner’s Rossvale Fantastic Dream at Charonnis JW - Solid Gold dog with a broad head, dark eye, good stop and width to muzzle, giving an arrogant masculine expression. Arched neck, shoulders laid back with a broad chest giving good width to front. Level topline and well set and carried tail, giving a balanced outline. Moved well showing full pad. 

 2. Moore & Casentieri’s Emerson, Alpiu Slenis Of Alchez (Imp Ltu) JW ShCEx OSW - 4 yr old Black & tan dog, with masculine expression and dark eye, good reach of neck, well laid back shoulders, good width to chest and front, Level topline. Moved well with a balanced outline.

 1. Sullivan & Diffey’s Marhilway Driving Edge At Jacquinta JW - 4 yr old G&W dog with a masculine broad head, dark round well set eyes and a wide jaw. Ample reach of neck with well laid back shoulders giving. Broad deep chest with good width to front. Level topline, well carried tail and good angulation to the rear giving a balanced outline both standing and on the move. Moved well with reach and drive. 

 2. Stevens Peekin Jazz-A-Matazz-Tu G&W - 3 yr old dog, finer type than 1, but with a good broad head and masculine expression, nicely arched neck and shoulders are well laid back. A level topline and correctly set tail gives a balanced outline. Moved well with drive showing full pad.

 1. Finnanger’s INT/N/FIN/SE/DK UCH Hin Chen’s Genesio FIN J V-22 NV-23 G&W - 3 yr old masculine dog with a broad head, dark round well set eyes, correct stop and wide muzzle. Good bone with arched neck, well laid back shoulder a wide front and broad chest. Level topline and good angulation to the rear gives a balanced outline with a sell set and carried tail. Moved well showing full pad. 

 2. Fairley’s Ch Rossvale Wildest Dream – Solid Gold three year old dog. He has a broad head , wide square muzzle with dark well set eyes and a correct stop which combines to give a masculine arrogant expression. Well boned with a good reach of neck and well laid back shoulders. He has a broad chest, a level topline and well carried tail. Nicely angulated rear, giving a balanced outline. Moved well.

 1. Sullivan’s Ch Jacquinta Lets Go Andy JW. – G&W 8 year old masculine dog with a broad head and wide muzzle. He has a well arched neck and broad chest with a level topline, well set and carried tail, and a balanced outline. Moved well with drive.

 1. Granholt’s N/SE/DK UCH Hin Chens Hocus Pocus Int/N JCH NJV-23 NJUBV-23 – This was the dog I was looking for. 3 yr old G&W that exudes breed type. Well muscled, excellent bone and the correct size. He has a broad head, with large dark round well set eyes, correct tip tilted nose, wide square muzzle with good dentition giving a typical masculine arrogant expression. He has a good reach of neck leading to well laid back shoulders, broad well laid down chest, a good width to front and a level topline. Well angulated both front and rear with correct tail set and carriage giving a balanced outline both standing and on the move. He moved round the ring with reach and drive showing full pad. Delighted to award him the DCC and BIS. I understand that this was his second CC and I am sure he will not have to wait long for the third.

 2. Smed’s INT/Multi Ch Joy’s Fuoco Su Ghiaccio WW24 EUW23 - Grey & White 8 year old dog who truly belies his age. He has a lovely broad head with a soft but masculine expression. Dark well set eyes and good width to muzzle. A well arched neck with well laid back shoulders, good width to front and a broad chest, with a level topline. Well angulated both front and rear, with a correctly set and carried tail giving a lovely balanced outline. Moved well. Beautifully presented. On the day I just preferred the head and expression of 1. Pleased to award him the RCC.

 1. Clifford’s Cedarhythe Enchantment – 7 mth Old B&W bitch with a lovely feminine head and expression. She has dark round well set eyes, correct stop and a broad square muzzle. Nicely arched neck and well laid back shoulders, a level topline and well set tail. Well angulated both fore and aft, with a balanced outline. Moved well with drive, showing full pad. 

 2. Iley’s Senousi Dressed By Largerfield – 6 mth old G&W bitch. Feminine expression with a broad head dark eye and good width to muzzle. She has a well arched neck and good broad chest., a level topline and well set tail. She needs to firm up a little which I am sure will come with maturity and she moved out well considering this was her first show.

 1. Finnanger’s Hin Chen’s Mustang Sally – 11 month old G&W bitch who is litter sister to my BPIS. Very feminine expression with a good broad head, wide muzzle and dark well set eyes. She has a well arched neck and laid back shoulders with a broad chest giving good width to her front. She is well angulated with a balanced outline and moved well with drive.

 2. Spencer Down’s Chanikos Harper Seven At Evieshu – B&W 10 mth old bitch with a feminine expression, dark eyes, a broad head and good width to muzzle. Level topline and well set tail. She is higher on leg than 1 but still has a balanced outline and moved well around the ring. Well presented.

Large well set dark round eyes, good broad head and a wide muzzle, nice reach of neck, well laid back shoulders giving good width to front and a broad chest. She has a level topline, well set and carried tail, and a well angulated rear giving a balanced outline. Moved well showing full pad.

 2. Gilkes & Finnanger’s Hin Chen’s Juliette (Imp Nor) - 11 month old G&W bitch who is another litter sister of my BPIS. Feminine expression with a broad head, well set dark eyes, good stop and a square wide muzzle. Nicely arched neck with laid back shoulders giving good width to front. Broad well laid down chest and a level topline. Correctly set and carried tail and well angulated rear. She moved around the ring with drive showing full pad. BPB

 1. Ashman’s To Be The Best Xantippe For Zefa (Imp UKR) – 18mth old G&W bitch with a dark eye and feminine expression. She has an arched neck and laid back shoulders giving adequate width to front and broadness of chest. She has a balanced outline and moved well with drive.

 2. Thornton’s Norboo Bella Rosa - 20 mth old solid gold bitch with black mask. She has a feminine expression with a broad head and dark eye. A well arched neck and good width to front. Broad chest and level topline. Moved well. Coat still needs to mature.

 2. Spooner’s Shenleyvale Orange Maid At Chanikos – G&W bitch, larger type than 1. Good broad head, dark eyes and wide muzzle. Nicely arched neck good width to front, broad chest and level topline. Well carried tail giving a balanced outline. Moved ok when she decided to co-operate with her handler. Preferred overall size and balance of 1.

 1. Galliford & Keree-Bartolo’s Sassyshi Cake By The Ocean With Shikeira JW – G&W bitch with a feminine expression, good width to head and muzzle, tip tilted nose and dark well set eyes. Nicely arched neck with a wide front and broad chest. Level topline, good tail set which is well carried and nicely angulated rear. She has a balanced outline and moved around the ring showing full pad. Well presented. 

 2. Clifford’s Cedarhythe Legacy Darlin - B&W feminine bitch with dark well set eyes, broad head and square wide muzzle. Good width to front and a broad chest with well sprung rib. Level topline with a well set and carried tail. She moves well with reach and drive. A close call for placing, but just preferred the overall balance and outline of 1.

 1. Rutter’s Ethelsmead Summer Dreams – B&W two year old bitch who stood alone in this class but was a worthy winner. Feminine expression with a broad head, dark well set eyes, and a wide muzzle with good dentition. Arched neck and well laid back shoulders with a good broad chest. Level topline correct tail set and carriage. She has a balanced outline both standing and on the move and moved well showing full pad.

 1. Diffey’s Spirited Edge – G&W bitch with a good broad head, dark eyes, a tip tilted nose and wide square muzzle, all giving a lovely feminine expression. She has good bone with nice reach of neck, laid back shoulders and a broad well laid down chest, giving good width to front. She has a correctly set tail, carried well on the move, good rear angulation, which combined with a level topline gives a balanced outline. Moved well showing full pad. 

 2. Finnangers Hin Chen’s Heroes Of Our Time - feminine G&W bitch who has similar attributes to 1. Broad head, dark well set eyes and wide muzzle Good width to front, a broad chest and level topline, well set tail and well angulated rear. Moved well with drive holding a balanced outline. Just preferred the expression of 1 on this occasion but could easily swap places in future.

 1. Smed’s INT/MULTI Ch Hey There HotNClassy Influencer DEW22 VIV24 KBHV24 – Ultra Feminine G&W bitch, large dark round well set eyes, a broad head, correct tip tilted nose and wide square muzzle. She has a good reach of neck with well laid back shoulders giving good width to front. Well ribbed with a broad chest. Level topline and correctly set and carried tail, good rear angulation, which gives a balanced outline. Moved well with drive showing full pad and beautifully presented. A worthy winner of the RCC.

 2. Sweeney’s Senousi Love The Dress another lovely bitch who was unlucky to come up against my class winner on the day. G&W bitch with a broad round head, dark round well set eyes, good stop and a wide square muzzle, all giving a beautiful feminine expression. Her neck is nicely arched and shoulders are well laid back. She has a wide front and broad chest, lovely bone, a level topline and good tail set and carriage. On the day I preferred the overall balance and movement of 1.

 1. Yorke & Keree-Bartolo’s Ch Middletune Flame of Gold – A very youthful feminine G&W 7 yr old bitch, who is a worthy Champion and still capable of winning more CC’s. She has a broad head and Muzzle, dark well set eyes and correct tip tilted nose. Arched neck with good width to front, level topline and broad well laid down chest. Correct tail set and carriage, with a balanced outline. Moved around the ring showing full pad. Pleased to award her BVIS.

A lovely class with some great dogs that were a privilege to judge. 

 1. De La Cour’s Ch Coursani Sand Queen (GKC) – A beautiful ultra feminine G&W bitch who exemplifies breed type. She has a broad head, a wide square muzzle, large dark round eyes set well apart and a correct tip tilted nose. A well arched neck leads into well laid back shoulders with excellent width to front, a broad laid down chest with a good spring of rib. Level topline and well set and carried tail. She has excellent angulation both fore and aft, which gives her a beautiful balanced outline. She has good bone and is well muscled, moving with reach and drive showing full pad and good width at the rear. Delighted to award her the BCC and BOS 

 2. Crossley’s Ch Santosha Silouette – Another beautiful bitch with a feminine expression. She has dark well set eyes, a broad head, correct stop and wide square muzzle. Good reach of neck, laid back shoulders and good width to front, well sprung ribs a level topline and correctly set tail which she carries well over her back. Moved well with reach and drive. Beautifully presented. I know that these bitches have and will change places on many occasions. On the day I preferred the expression and overall balance of 1.
