My first time awarding CCs after 13 years judging this breed. I can honestly say that awarding CCs in this breed was the most rewarding and pleasurable appointments of my judging career. My hands were as clean at the end as I started. I was in huge admiration of all the hard work every owner had put into the presentation of the exhibits. I truly appreciated every entry – what an extraordinary and beautiful breed and such warm applause from the ringside which was icing on the cake.

What a nice class to start the day. All beautifully presented and schooled.
1ST 5999 - Two Rivers Wise Choice at Colnbear (Imp Usa) (Mrs J Sheridan). Topped this good class, great size and compact, balanced body, his head is well developed, free from wrinkle, of good width, strong muzzle, medium stop, deep chest, ribs well sprung, from topline, excellent rear drive, covers the ground with long stride and shows some toeing in coming towards. Carries his tail a fraction higher but I’m sure this will settle as he gets older, it’s set on correctly coming off a slightly sloping croup. RDCC.
2ND 5986 - Mileoak Utah Beach (Mr G J & Mrs P Leech). White and black with minimal flecking on legs and muzzle, he is incredibly eye catching and moving out with the correct length of stride holding a firm topline and with a slight roll over the ribs when moving. Head is of good proportions, black pigmented nose and eye rims, small eyes and tight lids, good width of muzzle and square when viewed from side. Holds his long tail low, a little close behind and preferred the length of leg of 1.

1ST 5998 - Sandbears Aerodynamic (Mrs K Scott). A lovely character on this one showing me that typical friendly and warm nature, greeting me with a lovely wag of the tail. Black with a splash of white on the forechest. Strong head with good back skull, ears were large and set low on side of head, would like a tighter eyelid. Excellent texture of coat. Occipital bone could be more pronounced. Good width to front, forelegs could be straighter. Super croup and carrying tail in a pleasing low position. A very solid mover in all directions holding a firm topline and with reach and drive. I see from the catalogue his sire is my DCC and BOB winner, he’s passed on many of his virtues. Very well presented.

1ST 5969 - Oukaya Forever Ursa Minor (Imp Fra) (Mr G & Mrs R & Ms M Canning & Canning & Rennison), upstanding white and black male with a dark face, at the top end of the height standard however his body is balanced with head size matching his body, head is large, eyes set wide apart and with tight eyelids, well developed nostrils, short muzzle, tight lips, straight front, substantial bone, presented in good order, excellent furnishings on front legs, with correct slight roll over the ribs on the move, could have more bend in stifle.
2ND 5979 - Davistell B'mian Rapsody of Newfnouveau (ai) (Miss S & Mr E Gorvin & Cole). Substantial head on this one, broad with low set ears, soft expression, eye lids could be tighter, very playful and friendly, good width between forelegs, feet well padded and webbed, topline was strong and level, would like more spring of rib, carrying the correct amount of weight, strong rear quarters and well muscled. Lively mover and a happy boy.
3RD 5962 - Green Pearl under The Stars avec Angelscove (Imp Fra) (Miss D G Aplin)

1ST 5966 - Twillin Gate Vancouver Acara (Imp Bel) (Mrs C A Bodman). Liked the proportions on this one, slightly longer than height, steady easy mover, substantial bone, straight forelimbs, head is strong and masculine but showing no wrinkle with short muzzle and kind expression, eyes were small but would like a tighter lower eyelid. Moved very accurately out and back with excellent drive and showing his rear pads going away. Feet were compact, well cushioned and of a great shape. Has a bright future and I see shares the same dam as my eventual BCC winner.
2ND 5992 - Zentaur Fizzical Therapy (Miss N & Mrs C Owles & Bristow). This male was absolutely perfectly presented, well handled and had great temperament and very eye catching outline with a super gently sloping croup into low set on tail that was carried low on the move. His head size matched his body and had excellent breadth and a strong occipital bone and muzzle shorter than length of skull, eyes were clean and small and set well apart and gave a beautiful soft expression. I’d like a shade more on the leg for preference.

1ST 5965 - Ch Sandbears Masterpiece (Ms S Blake). An incredible outline on this black dog with strength and substance, and thick double coat which is in full bloom, clean and groomed on every part of his body, thick featherings on front legs, his head is large, broad and well balanced, with short muzzle, square in profile, large well pigmented black nose and eye rims, clean eyes, that were dark in colour and almond shaped and well spaced apart, set wide and giving a soft and appealing expression, his ears were set just lower than his eyes framing his pleasing head. His neck is strong and is set onto a well laid back shoulder giving a beautiful smooth sweep from neckline into topline. His back is strong, broad and with great width of ribs and chest reaching to elbow, his loin is broad strong and powerful, rear quarters from hip, hock and foot are perfectly straight and strong, thighs are well muscled including second thigh, tail is long, free from kinks and reaches to hock. His movement is superb, so effortless, reachy with powerful drive and excellent width from behind when moving away and shows typical toeing in coming towards. He lives up to his name being a Masterpiece – I thought he was fabulous, and deserved the DCC and BOB, also pleased to see him take 2nd in the group. Congratulations to his owner.
2ND 5971 - Ch Nandobears You’ll Never Walk Alone (Imp Deu) (Mrs L Chapman). Loved the proportions of this upstanding male also, excellent length of neck, substantial bone throughout, very animated mover and powerful strong rear action. He comes to a stop so foresquare easily and he has a well-made body, with strong topline, powerful broad loin, moderate bend of stifle, strong hocks, tail is set just off the croup and is low reaching to hock. A well deserved Champion, beautifully presented and handled.

1ST 5998 - Sandbears Aerodynamic (Mrs K Scott). 1st in YD. Best Special Beginner and well on later taking 2nd in the Special Beginner group.
2ND 5991 - Starnewf Mr Dark Sky (Miss C & Mr D Moore & James). Third in strong puppy class. Black with brown tinge on coat, coat was clean, profuse and well furnished on front legs, breeches and tail. Bone could be stronger, body of good height, good length of legs. Head is large and broad, still has that mischievous expression, eyelids could be tighter. Pleasing on the move but just not as accurate as 1.
3RD 5979 - Davistell B'mian Rapsody of Newfnouveau (ai) (Miss S & Mr E Gorvin & Cole)

1ST 5978 - Ch Disoranto Juliana Blue at Darkpeak (Imp Pol) JW (Mr A G & Mrs K J Farrar). Is presented in glorious coat and condition and has great length of leg. Excellent bone and strength on her, well angulated shoulder, pronounced sternum, and good return of upper arm, her rear is well built, broad and with well angulated stifle and strong hocks, a free and easy mover still showing great footfall and holds her shape with ease, substantial bone, ribs extending well back, clean head which was pleasing and with delightful expression, and heard later that she won the veteran group so huge congratulations to her owner.

1ST 5996 - Bears of The Kingdom Xabrina Sheridel (Imp Bel) (Mrs D Richards). Nothing exaggerated on this very promising young black with brown tinge to coat, super playful, full of mischief and character, her head is clean, and excellent length of leg, just giving away to the BPD in a softer topline in the stand, her movement is very good for one so young, displaying great reach and drive from the year, tidy out and back, holding her topline and with low tail carriage completing the picture. I look forward to watching her progress.
2ND 5985 - Mileoak Dee Day Darling (Mr G J & Mrs P Leech). Impressive white and black who I see is litter mate to 2nd in PD and more mature looking than one, both this owners’ exhibits were unlucky today to not win their classes but are really beautiful siblings. This girl has so much to like, with superb shoulder angulation allowing her to show excellent reach, and strong rear angles to drive from behind, she holds a firm back as she powers round the ring, she carries quite a profuse coat for one so young, her bone could be stronger to match her size.
3RD 5993 - Starnewf Little Twinkle (Mrs Petersone)

1ST 5980 - Newgraden Hope and Glory for Bridgestone (Mr M & Mrs J Groves). Quality compact brown, super shape in profile, substantial bone and well built stance, such a powerful mover, head is large, wide and with good length of muzzle to skull, strong occipital bone, square muzzle, small clean eyes amber coloured matching coat colour and gave a very nice expression, muzzle could be slightly cleaner, slightly sloping croup with tail reaching to hock and free from kinks.
2ND 6002 - Wilbears She’s A Corker (Mr J & Mrs M West). Well presented black of great size and with strong straight forelegs and good width to rear, slightly longer in body than ideal and a little soft in topline on the day, carries tail a touch higher than I’d like. Her head is well developed with good dark pigmentation, soft lips that were square in profile. Would like tight eye lids for preference.

1ST 5995 - Mileoak Wishing On A Star JW (Mrs G & Dr M Popple). Clear winner here, soundest mover, she has such a nice clean outline with not a hair out of place, her head is really good, with good fantastic breadth of skull, strong muzzle, square from the side, framed by low set large ears, excellent low tail carriage, lovely strong neck sweeping into firm level topline, well off for bone, really powerful and effortless on the move.
2ND 5988 - Harbourcove Once A Upon A Time in Bearisland (Mrs S & Mr J Low). I liked her size, and solid mover in profile but a little untidy out and back, she has bags of character, she would definitely be willing to rescue me I’m sure! Holds her topline. Her head could be cleaner, but has good width of muzzle, just carrying a bit too much weight over the ribs.

1ST 5980 - Newgraden Hope and Glory for Bridgestone (Mr M & Mrs J Groves). 1st in JB.
2ND 6001 - Stelamah Wildflower at Wilbears (Mr J & Mrs M West). She’s really nice to go over and get your hands on. Well muscled, lovely neck and shoulder, her head is excellent. Just some fly away hair over her loin which spoils her outline.
2459. Newfoundland - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST 5989 - Oialt Back with A Icy Three JW (Miss S & Mr R Mills & Chatburn). Great stance on her, solidly built, in great muscular condition, and liked her size, eyes were small and with tight eye rims, front limbs were strong and straight with good width, just a shade short in rib and moved positively in all directions, carrying her tail just above topline but it was set on low.
2ND 5964 - Baresark Betty Boop (Miss C & Mr A Batrick & Farley). Black who was presented in a clean condition, not the most confident of females, excellent depth of chest, decent shoulder, firm back, strong loin which was broad, her movement was smooth, ground covering and effortless, just carrying a little too much weight.
2460. Newfoundland - Limit Bitch

1ST 5972 - Twillin Gate Villustrious among Zentaur (Imp Bel) JW (Mr G J, Mrs T A & Misses E G & F L Coldwell). She caught my eye on the first go around. Super head, body, topline and amazing mover, excellent rear. I loved her length of leg and body, she is moderate from all angles and nothing is exaggerated, topped with the most glorious broad and clean head, with soft expression, her neck is strong and set on beautifully into a laid back shoulder, her fore legs are straight and strong and with compact well padded feet, even with a change of handler in the challenge, she just motored round the ring and she just filled my eye of a classic Newfoundland. I’m told it was her first CC, congratulations. I will follow her progress!
2ND 5997 - Twillin Gate Voulez Vous Sheridel (Imp Bel) TAF (Mrs D Richards). I see sister to 1st in LD and another cracking Newfoundland from this clever Belgian breeder. Excellent bone and substance and displays that wonderful gentle and friendly Newf character, another easy effortless mover, so moderate all through, with thick double coat of excellent texture. Just not the presentation of 1 but I’m sure she will make up easily.
3RD 5975 - Sasquatch Dream Your Dreams (Ms N J Davis)

This was such an exciting class.
1ST 5973 - Ch Zentaur This Is Jam Hot (ai) JW ShCM OSW (Mr G J, Mrs T A & Misses E G & F L Coldwell). Beautiful quality brown of the highest order, she has such presence about her, and has a super elegant outline where is nothing is exaggerated, her movement is incredible, each stride was effortless and powerful, holding her long tail low and keeping her shape, with that characteristic Newfie roll. Presentation was first class which was icing on the cake but she’s as good to go over as she looks but had to settle for the RCC today as I preferred the leg length of her kennel mate. Well done to the owners.
2ND 5977 - Ch Darkpeak Starlight Express (Mr A G & Mrs K J Farrar), absolutely loved this upstanding black bitch who is of a great size, strength and has oodles of substance, loved her head, just carrying her tail a fraction higher on the move for my preference but she is a quality girl with excellent angulation in front and rear, great depth of chest, well ribbed, strong hocks. A real worthy Champion who I’m sure has plenty more winning to come.
3RD 5967 - Ch Sandbears What Ya Fancy at Ravenshore (Miss M Bull)
