Leeds City & District Canine Association
Thanks to the Leeds Committee for the invitation- The entry was overwhelming for which I thank everyone. Nice to see I am not forgotten!- Overall I found so many different types which surprised me, but the winners and many others were great. Overall construction obviously and expression are key to the breed. And the nature of Standard Poodles is unique in that they never take anything too seriously… My concern with the overall entry was the lack of this adventurous Poodle spirit with many. Are they over trained? So there were occasions when deciding between a couple, I went for more personality.
Special Beginners(D/B) (8/4)
1st: IRVING, Mr B & FOSTER, Ms KATE Kamarri Smart Alec
Lovely shaped young boy, really nice head and dark eye. Long neck, good tailset. Very well presented and he moved steadily.
2nd: STEINERT, Mr Danyle-Jayy & STEINERT, Mr Matthew Magaro Megan (imp Esp) Naf Taf
Very pretty young white bitch. She needs to body up a bit but I believe she is just settling into her new home from abroad. Not 18 months yet so plenty of time. In that time I believe she will grow up to be a flashy young lady who will win many 1st prizes.

Classy puppy, beautiful shape, super dark almond eye, Good neck and shoulders,he has an amazing coat already. Beautifully presented, he wanted to skip and hop on the move( He’s a puppy after all!) but very sympathetically handled as she got him to settle.

Limit Dog (5)
1st: BARKER, Mrs Linda & BARKER, Miss Fenella & BARKER, Montego Am I Kenough For Crystalar JW
Young dog, totally balanced. Excellent head and eye. I wrote “great poodle expression” = mischievous look in his eye which means he may leap up at any moment, a true Standard Poodle attitude(Shame so many now don’t appear to have that) although I am sure his competent young handler would have stopped him!. Lovely shape all round and moved soundly and with that same spirit. So well made all over with a balanced head and a harsh white coat, beautifully presented and I was delighted to award him his first CC, the first of many I hope and suspect.
2nd: DOWNES, Miss Rachel Royaldeniz Superwolverine JW,
White boy ,lovely head and eye, well ribbed and good angulation. Well muscled(well done!) Stylish mover, in good company in this class. Another I would have liked to have a bit more “fizz”

Open Dog (8 /2)-
Quality throughout this class- It is Open so it should be!
1st: GARBUTT, Mrs Nicola & HOBLIN, Mr A P R Kertellas Written In Stars At Tianola JW
Masculine, well shaped head, lovely expression,(dark eye does that!). Good neck and shoulders and depth of chest. Glad to see good tailset. Really motored around the Ring which showed his quality. Overall a good sound boy.
2nd: KENDALL CLARKSON, Mrs M Ch Magin The Great Escape
Another grand dog. Has a slightly finer head than winner but great expression and so correct almond dark eye. Very balanced throughout, again well muscled. Fabulous coat texture and presentation- One of those classes where you wish you could give 2 x firsts..
3rd: BROOK, Miss F A & BROOK, Mrs C A Ch Sculbrook Raising The Odds JW
Veteran Dog (3)
1st: RODGERS, Ms Marita Montravia Day Dream Believa
Now, Veteran or not he is a lovely boy. Proved that age is just a number and throws out the modern attitude of being finished as a Show dog by 3! Super balanced throughout. Lovely well muscled, perfect front, deep chest topped off with a fabulous well textured coat- his attributes are shown when he moved with sheer attitude and drive behind. (Remember that?!) Reserve CC- Best Veteran.
2nd: BROWN, Mrs Tracy Ch Somanic Spectre For Jaspalie
Well known veteran winner. Well balanced, well muscled As ever beautifully presented, hiding nothing in his trim. Lovely head, kind eyes, dark pigment, moved effortlessly. As many here today alas,, in my opinion he needed to show a bit more spark, which was certainly displayed by the winner. A worthy Champion
3rd: MULLAN, Mr K J Kekemara Quantum Of Solace
Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st: DIXON, Miss Jessica Rennkiss And Make Up
Very feminine little black girl just 7 months. She has a correct almond dark eye, short coupled with correct angles. Good tight front. Should grow into a super little show girl.
Puppy Bitch (3)
1st: LYNN, Mr Jason B Afterglow Kill For Candy
Very pretty puppy with a super head and dark eye. She is extremely balanced throughout. Moved steadily for such a baby, she was obviously really enjoying herself, her tail never stopped wagging. Lovely shape stacked and kept her topline on the move
2nd: BENNETT, Miss Laura Bennett Celmareva Wicked Dream
Small white bitch,. Sweet head and dark eye Would prefer more chin. beautiful pigment Nicely made, but not as developed as the winner. She seemed a little unsettled on the move but she is a happy puppy- And that’s what counts.
3rd: GEESON, Mrs Eileen & NUGENT, Miss Mary Janavons Star Of The Sea
Junior Bitch (4 )
1st: BARKER, Mrs Linda & BARKER, Miss Fenella & BARKER, Kamarri Let's Go Barbie To Crystalar JW
I completely fell for this super little bitch. So very pretty with the most wicked eye- I could tell she wanted to jump at you for a playday!- As I have said, I want to see this in a Standard! Short coupled, fabulous rear end angulation, beautifully presented, and despite what she may have wanted she put in a very polished steady performance on the move. Loved her Reserve CC
2nd: GEESON, Mrs Eileen & NUGENT, Miss Mary Janavons Midnight Melody
Another one with a super wicked poodle expression. A delight to go over with everything in the right place. When she matures she is going to be something special. Lovely to see her experienced handler encouraging and taking to a puppy. Her sister was in puppy but due to an unfortunate experience didn’t want to be handled but I loved her as well. Best Puppy .

2nd: PATTERSON ROGERSON, Mrs K Kamarri Smarty Pants
Another relation to one of my winners, in this case the Junior Bitch. She is almost the black version, I loved her shape and overall outline. Like her white sister she too has a feminine head and dark eye, good chin and neck. Lovely body front and rear, Well presented. She was a little unsettled on the move.

3rd: AIKMAN, M/7iss Mhairi & FRIDAY, Mr Paul Namkia's Dressed In Frost
Open Bitch (8)
WOW A lovely class of quality bitches. Some had to go without but no disgrace. I followed my instinct and went for movement and attitude!
1st: MOORES, Miss R & SPEAKMAN, Miss S & LYNN, Mr J Ch Sachemic Mischief Managed With Afterglow JW
Underneath this fabulously presented and tailored coat her construction does not disappoint. Lovely neck and shoulders, well muscled with good front and rear. Tight feet, beautiful head and dark almond eye. She has attitude on the move as well. One I would have loved to have owned . Bitch CC & BOB
2nd: WELLS, Mrs J Ch Volgarus Consider The Lily
The quality just kept coming here and this was another beautiful bitch to go over. Not quite as fine in head as the winner, though certainly in no way heavy. but everything else is correct in all areas. Lovely body topped off with a wonderfully presented well textured coat. Moved so well she is a more than worthy Champion.- I could easily have given her the Reserve CC but I just fell for the sheer exuberance of the Junior.

Veteran Bitch (1 )
1st: DAWSON, Miss Natasha Kamarri Born To Be Wild At Achara
Typically well made bitch from this kennel. Nice head and dark eye though I would have preferred a smaller eye. Well presented and moved well.
