Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge, to the exhibitors for a quality entry, and to my excellent stewards for their friendly, efficient support. I judged each dog as I saw them on the day and was delighted with my principal winners and the overall type and quality in my final line-up of dogs and bitches.

Minor Puppy Dog (6)

1st: Seatallan English Oak (Miss K Powell). Top quality black puppy with lovely head, well developed for his age. Well muscled with very good overall balance, level topline and good angulation throughout with correct tail set. Good bone and neat feet, in good coat and condition. Moved true for one so young.

2nd: Dylsonleigh Oberon over Balladoole (Miss K Druggan). Well balanced yellow with a kind masculine head. Good shoulder placement with level topline and good tail set. Correct coat, strong well muscled quarters, good spring of rib and good bone. Moved well.

3rd : Tullochmohr Take A Bow (Mrs D Tulloch)

Puppy Dog (10,1)

1st : Woolman Free and Easy (Mrs Y Shirton). What a stunning puppy. Quality pale yellow that stood out for his overall balance, clean outline and gentle head with kind eye and expression. Good front with good reach of neck, good rear angulation, well sprung ribs, short coupled with level topline and correct tail set. Good bone and tight feet in excellent coat and condition. Showed and moved steadily. Best Puppy and Puppy Gundog Group 2.

2nd : Deer's Den Night Sky at Crammondkirk (Imp Pol) (Miss L A Lewis). Upstanding black of pleasing over all type in excellent coat. Lovely head and kind expression. Short coupled with good reach of neck, well angulated forehand, level topline, good tail set, strong quarters, good bone and tight feet. Moved well.

3rd : Trendlewood Hometown Glory (Miss J Moody)

Junior Dog ( 6,1)

1st : Dolwen Wish Upon A Star of Mandamay (Mr D O Wilmshurst). Yellow 13 month with lots of substance and vitality. Kind masculine head and expression, good reach of neck, good shoulder placement, deep through chest with good spring of rib. Strong well muscled quarters. Firm in topline and well set tail. Happy active mover.

2nd: Naiken Island Hopping (ai) JW (Mr & Mrs A R V & Miss R Hodge). Well balanced chocolate with a kind head and expression. Short coupled with good bone and neat feet, level topline and good tail set. A bit more coat needed today to complete the picture. Good front and rear angulation. Very good on the move.

3rd : Zuma Percorso Stellare (Mrs R Minajeva)

Yearling Dog (7,2)

1st: Exelby Botis at Meadowline (Miss L Thompson). Strongly built well constructed yellow, nicely balanced with a good outline. I liked his keen to please masculine head, kind eye and length of muzzle. Double coat in good bloom. Good front and rear angulation, clean neck with powerful quarters and tail straight off the back. Moved soundly.

2nd : Landebec Ventura JW (Miss N C Baron). Another well proportioned yellow with pleasing head and expression. Clean balanced outline, short coupled, well ribbed with a level topline ending in correct tail set. In good coat and condition, with well-bent stifles. Moved soundly.

3rd: Dolwen Jackpot (Mr Arwyn & Mrs Sian & Mrs Einir & Mr D Ellis & Ellis & Matulla & Matulla)

1st : Potterspiney My Sovereign JW (Mrs E Young). Well made deep bodied yellow of good breed type with kind head and expression. Nice outline, short coupled, firm strong top line with correct tail set. Good front assembly and good turn of stifle with well muscled quarters, good coat and tail. Moved steadily.

2nd : Centenalee Whisky Sour at Kyorli (Miss J M Douglas). Darker yellow nicely balanced and short coupled. Kind masculine head, good coat and tail, good bone and neat feet. Preferred the movement of 1.

3rd : Annakay Father Brown (Mrs S C Burroughs)

Post Graduate Dog (12)

1st : Rumhill Bertie Wooster by Baileydale JW (Mr A & Mrs J Metcalfe). This chocolate brimming with quality, really caught my eye today. He is so well made throughout, with a typical Labrador head and sincere expression showing his character. Short coupled with a beautifully balanced outline, he has a true double coat and otter tail and carries no excess weight, oozing class and maturity. He has a clean reach of neck into well-laid shoulders, a good front and depth of chest, and a firm topline with his tail set straight off. Excellent ribcage, strong quarters with good rear angulation and a good turn of stifle. He excels in soundness, moving straight, true and effortlessly. A dog of real quality and presence. I was proud to award him the CC and BOB and delighted to see him shortlisted to the final eight in the Gundog Group.

2nd: Mcfarwin’s Grey Legacy by Keeninspires JW (Mrs S Perkins. A strongly built yellow of good overall balance, with a well-moulded head, kind expression and excellent muzzle length. He has a strong neck, depth through the chest and very well-muscled quarters. Good length of leg and bone, with a pleasing layback of shoulder. Shown in good coat. Moved soundly.

3rd: Potterspiney Optimist Vision (Mrs E Young)

Limit Dog (22,10)

1st : Richbourne Lion King (Mrs S Wiles). A striking, masculine yellow with a broad, typical head and a kind, alert expression. He shows excellent balance and outline, standing well and making full use of his quality construction. Strong neck into well-angulated shoulders, good fore chest and plenty of bone. Deep body with well-sprung ribs and a firm, level topline, finished with a well-set, correctly carried otter tail. Powerful hindquarters with wide thighs and a good turn of stifle gives him positive, fluent movement and easy ground coverage. Well presented in superb coat and condition, he has strength throughout without any hint of being overdone. A sound, impressive young dog—delighted to award him the RCC.

2nd: Seatallan Chilli (Miss K Powell). A smart, strongly built black dog I really liked, full of quality and substance with a very nice outline. He has a kind, masculine head with good length of muzzle. Short coupled, with a clean reach of neck into well-angulated shoulders, a level topline, good bone and tight feet. Well balanced overall, presented in superb coat and condition. Strong, well-muscled hindquarters with a good turn of stifle, moving soundly and confidently. Unlucky to meet 1 today.

3rd: Carromer Teguila by Keeninspires (Mrs S Perkins)

Open Dog (10,2)

1st: Sh Ch Original Soundtrack del Trango for Brupurhat (Mr B J Brackner). Quality darker yellow of excellent type, beautifully balanced throughout with clean neck, firm top line, and classic, masculine head that is strong yet not overdone, with a broad, clean skull and well-proportioned features. Good bone, correct depth of chest, good front, well-sprung ribs, and short-coupled. His strong, well-muscled rear quarters and excellent tail complete a lovely outline. In super condition, he moved soundly and steadily, covering the ground well. In my shortlist for the challenge.

 2nd : Sh Ch Binnaig Bonnach for Tullochmohr JW (Mrs D Tulloch). A top quality sound, energetic dog, very attentive to his handler, he has a clean, balanced outline with a good neck, well-laid shoulders, a firm topline and strong, powerful hindquarters. In very good coat and condition he has a kind head and expression. Moved with drive.

3rd: Sh Ch Berlan Get Up and Go at Sandylands (Mr E & Mrs E Casey & Jayes)

1st: Sh Ch Carriegame Moonshine (Mr W & Mrs G Dodd). This lovely black dog is not showing his eight years, presented in excellent coat. He has a masculine head with a kind eye and gentle expression. Strong through the body, with well-boned legs and tight feet, strong neck, well-laid shoulder, firm topline, and well-angled hindquarters. He moved steadily with purpose. In my shortlist for the challenge.

2nd : Sh Ch A Sense of Pleasure's Get Lucky JW (Imp Deu) (Miss K Druggan). Another impressive black, 7 year old strongly built fit happy dog. Nice type with kind masculine head and expression. Good angulation front and rear giving a balanced outline. In good coat with correct tail set. Moved well.

3rd: Sh Ch Tweedledum Off The Record (Mrs D Meredith)

Special Beginners Dog (10,1)

1st: Rochevale Beal JW (Mr M Foster). Yellow of good size and overall type with mature masculine head and correct eye shape and ear set. Good front and rear angulation, nicely balanced with a level topline. Moved and showed well.

2nd: Trendlewood Hometown Glory (Miss J Moody). This lovely short coupled yellow was 3rd in Puppy and just right for his age. He has a kind head and expression, excellent type and conformation, correct shoulder placement, good upper arm, correct angulation fore and aft and good bone. Moved well.

3rd: Centenalee Whisky Sour at Kyorli (Miss J M Douglas)

1st : Seatallan Ebony (Miss K Powell). A very nice black girl, litter sister to my MPD winner. Good conformation, a sweet head and expression, good depth of foreface, short coupled, good reach of neck and good front. Deep through the body, excellent quarters and turn of stifle, good bone and in good coat, level topline and correct tail carriage. Nicely balanced mover.

2nd: Tullochmohr Thyme to Shine (Mrs D Tulloch). Smart well balanced yellow close up to 1. Sweet head and kind expression, good reach of neck clean lines, good bone and feet, well muscled and in good coat. Excellent quarters and turn of stifle, carries a true double coat, Moved really well.

1st: Brupurhat Star in Sight (Mr B J Brackner). Classy balanced yellow puppy good to go over and see on the move. Kind feminine head, good reach of neck and correct shoulder, well angulated fore and aft, good spring of rib, neat feet, well muscled quarters and in good coat. Level topline and correct tail set. Moved with drive. BPB

2nd: Rocheby Sundays Girl at Beskerby (Mr & Mrs R I & Miss M Dawson). Quality yellow of good type, with a pretty feminine head and gentle expression. Well balanced and short coupled, with tail correctly carried straight off the back. Good front, clean neck and level topline, strong and well-muscled quarters, and neat feet. Moved and showed well.

3rd: Tanronens Yuletide Angel (Mrs A Deane)

1st : Manorwell Mustang Sally (ai) (Mrs E Grummitt). A beautiful very promising black in good coat with a clean outline and the sweetest, most feminine head and expression. She has excellent shoulder construction, a level topline, strong well-made quarters, and good tail set. Deep through the chest, well off for bone, with neat feet. Carries a super coat, used her tail to advantage on the move and standing. Moved well.

2nd: Shaymiloney Saucy Olive (Mrs H J A Brambles). Another quality well balanced black with similar comments to 1. Loved her head shape and melting expression and clean reach of neck flowing into level topline. Very good front and rear angulation with strong quarters and good bone. Shown in good coat giving a nicely balanced picture. Moved soundly.

3rd: Magnavalleys Mimosa (Mr D R & Mrs S J Kennett)

Yearling Bitch (14, 2)

1st : Trendlewood It Takes Two JW (Mr D L & Mrs F E M Braddon). I really like this well-constructed chocolate who has so much quality and breed type all in one package. She has a pleasing head, with lovely kind eye of the correct colour and shape, good reach of neck and good front assembly. Well off for bone, with well-sprung ribs and short in coupling. Rear assembly shows well-muscled thighs and a good turn of stifle, and a well-set tail. In good coat and condition. She won the class with her sound movement.

 2nd: Sh Ch Binnaig Sea Salt JW (Ms C Campbell). Energetic compact, well-balanced yellow in great coat, with a clean and balanced outline. She has a beautiful head and expression, with a clean neck into well-laid shoulders. Strong forequarters with good bone, a correct length of upper arm and good front angulation. Good depth of chest, well-sprung ribs and a short, strong coupling. Level topline with a correct tail set, and a good otter tail. Well angulated and well muscled quarters. Close up to 1 but unsettled on the move.

 3rd : Forsywood’s Back to Black at Singrett (Mrs J K Griffiths)

1st: Serengoch's Calistoga JW (Miss K L Jones). Classy well constructed short coupled chocolate of good type. In good double coat with appealing head and expression and good eye colour and shape. Good neck and shoulders, good bone, neat feet, excellent ribs and well muscled quarters. She gave a lovely overall balanced picture to win this quality class. Moved well.

2nd: Shaymiloney Saucy Olive (Mrs H J A Brambles). 2nd in JB.

1st : Carriegame Loves to Dance (ai) (Mr W & Mrs G Dodd). Stylish black with good conformation and an appealing head and expression. In good coat, well-made front, flowing neck, level topline, and strong quarters. Tail carried straight off the back. She presented a balanced outline standing and was sound on the move.

2nd : Halshimoor Perfect Pitch at Shanorrell (Mr & Mrs M J, Miss L & Mr & Mrs D P Rawlinson & Balshaw). A very attractive yellow who has such a kind head and expression. Well-made and well-proportioned, standing on tight feet with ample bone and a good coat. She has excellent neck and shoulder placement, a strong fore chest, well-muscled quarters, neat hocks, and balanced angulation. Moved true with drive.

3rd: Mcfarwins Flashing Lights JW (Miss D Goodwin)

1st: Suttonpark Consuela (Mr J M Neachell). Stylish super type of Labrador, loved her make up with correct head and expression. She is well constructed with good clean reach of neck flowing over the shoulder. Short coupled and hindquarters are well muscled and well angulated. In good coat with otter tail straight off. A sound, positive mover shown in excellent coat and condition.

2nd : Alkhamhurst London Girl (Mrs M A Woodley). Close decision to winner splitting hairs as to who came out on top. Eye catching black with a kind, feminine head and a lovely front, well-angulated shoulders, a strong, clean neck, and good spring of rib. The more I looked at her the more I liked her. She is beautifully balanced with good bone and substance, and strong, well-muscled quarters. In good gleaming coat with good tail and tail set. Moved with drive.

3rd: Bowstones Waltzing Matilda Around Camisky (Mrs J L Cameron)

1st: Sh Ch Kimbajak Miss Jazz Swinger JW (Ms C M Edwards). This super yellow stood out in a strong class. A fine example of the breed, she has a beautiful, melting expression, lovely kind eye and good pigment. Balanced from every angle, she carries a clean reach of neck, well-laid shoulders, firm level topline and correct tail set. Her conformation is excellent, with strong, well-developed quarters and neat, tight feet, shown in good coat and fit condition. She looked a classy picture and moved true with a clean, driving action. Happy to award her the RCC

2nd : Sh Ch Lapema Masquerade at Sandylands (Mr E & Mrs E Casey & Jayes). Super yellow bitch of quality, unexaggerated and well made throughout. She has a lovely feminine head and a good reach of neck flowing into correct shoulder placement and a good upper arm. Correct depth of chest with excellent spring of rib, good bone and tight feet. Balanced at both ends, with strong hindquarters, well-bent stifles, a good second thigh and well let-down hocks. Her tail comes straight off her back, completing a clean a balanced outline. She moved with style and drive.

3rd: Bowstones Waltzing Matilda Around Camisky (Mrs J L Cameron)

1st: Oakhouse Our By Our (Mrs M Litherland). Absolute top class yellow of substance who exudes typical breed type. Not showing her 7 years she is well balanced with clean lines throughout. Lovely feminine head and expression, with correct eye shape and colour, good length of muzzle and correct stop. Super reach of neck leading into well laid shoulders, a level topline with correct tail set. Correct angulation fore and aft, short coupled with well-muscled quarters, in very good coat and fit condition. Good bone, deep in fore chest, good spring of rib and well turned stifles. Moved round the ring with drive. Delighted to award her the CC.

2nd : Sh Ch Crammondkirk's Yo Yo JW (Miss L A Lewis). Black 7 years of excellent breed type in very good coat, well balanced and correctly proportioned. Unlucky to meet the winner today. Nice overall outline clean and unexaggerated, with a beautiful head and eye. Good front, neck and shoulders, level topline with tail straight off, good bone and well-muscled quarters. Moved and showed well.

3rd: Naiken Evita (ai) (Mr T Lapper)

Special Beginners Bitch (13,4)

1st: Magnavalleys Mimosa (Mr D R & Mrs S J Kennett). Well balanced chocolate girl 3rd in Junior. Pleasing feminine head with good eye colour, good neck and shoulders, good bone down to nice feet, short coupled, correct coat and tail. Well angulated back end and strong quarters. Moved and showed well. BSB

2nd: Howcastle Josephine of Chelmscote (Mrs V Edwards). Black, with good well balanced outline, strong quarters, deep bodied and neat feet. Attractive expression, balanced head, correct eye shape and colour. Not in her best coat but handled and showed well and moved nicely when settled.

3rd: Chelmscote One to Remember (Mrs V Edwards)
