Greyhounds

Thank you to the Greyhound exhibitors for they supportive entry, I was very pleased, particularly with the low absentee rate on the day. All hounds were good in temperament and general condition.

Post Graduate Dog (2,1)

1. Newsham & Rowe’s Frankie Decuma via Windspiel (Imp CZE). Appreciated this male’s strength and upstanding, generous proportions. Overall, he is generous and scopey and has pleasing curves throughout. He is well angulated fore and aft standing over a lot of ground. Long, masculine head with correct width of skull, dark enough in eye. Long neck set smoothly into shoulder. Could be tidier coming and going but has a lovely easy side gait covering a lot of ground. Best Dog.

Open Dog (2,1)

1. Langcake & Short’s Boughton Back In Business at Langshor. This male had more slightly more length in terms of overall proportions which I preferred. He has a masculine and balanced head but I would prefer a darker eye. Enough neck but not that of 2. Excellent ribbing with long, well sprung ribs. He needs to settle quite a lot in front movement but scored in this class for his profile action.

2. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Azravi’s Marked By The Sunrise at Kirjojax (Imp NOR). Although upstanding and impressive, he is a more moderate dog in most respects. Not quite the length, curves or angulation of 1. Very pleasing head and eye, held on an excellent, long neck. Clean mover up and down but not the stride of 1 in profile.

Junior Bitch (2,0)

1. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Inchydoney Memories Vinlandia Raspberry Chocolat avec Kirjojax (Imp FRA).

2. Spacey’s Inchydoney Memories Vlady Muscat at Hallimans (Imp FRA).

Litter sisters, quite similar and not easy to separate. Both very feminine and racey, though I wouldn’t want any less substance to either of them and they both could be slightly more generous. They have long, typical heads with correct eye and expression. 1 moved very well up and down and had a sound easy stride in profile, even if it could have been longer. 2 still needs time to settle and whilst she could match her sister in profile, she was not quite as true in rear movement.

Post Graduate Bitch (2,0)

1. Sawyer’s Inchydoney Memories Une Virgin Mary avec Stonelow (Imp Fra). Well-sized, balanced bitch certainly not lacking in any strength or power. I wouldn’t mind a tough more length of leg for absolute ideal proportions. Fairly well made throughout with pleasing curves. A little overexcited on the move which did raise her tail and unsettle her action, but she was sound and free.

2. Prince & Ballentine’s Westview Puddles. Lovely bitch who was feminine throughout. Long head of balanced strength with moderately wide skull, lovely dark eyes and pigment. Very pleasing expression. Rather moderately angulated but balanced and this shows on the move where she has a free and balanced stride, but she could cover more ground. In excellent condition.

Open Bitch (3,0)

1. Newsham’s Ch Europa Decuma via Windspiel (Imp CZE). A beautiful bitch, so full of type and quality. A picture of balance, symmetry and power. Most glorious head and neck and just so very well made throughout. She is as sound as a pound in all directions, with great drive from her rear. It is not necessary to write a long list of virtues because point to point, there is almost nothing to change. A comfortable Best Bitch and BOB.

2. Langcake & Short’s Southpoint Normandia at Langshor (Imp PRT). Another pleasing bitch scoring for her generous and powerful overall appearance. Feminine head though would prefer a slightly better balance between her skull and muzzle. Long neck, excellent angulation fore and aft. Very good depth of chest and pleasing underline. Excelled in width of thigh, her rear overall was balanced and strong. Covers the ground on the move but not as fluid or clean as 1.

3. Prince & Ballentine’s Westview Puddles.
