Bull Terriers – Judge Lorraine Sheppard (Polanca)
I would like to thank the committee of the Three Counties Championship Dog Show for their kind invitation to judge for them, their hospitality was excellent and as ever what a well run show it was. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind but I was very happy with the wet weather ring, it gave the exhibits a good amount of room to move properly. Thank you to the stewards for keeping the judging on track and to all the exhibitors who entered. The quality was excellent, I was spoiled for choice. Some very close decisions and I hope that my choices were accepted with good grace. Many could switch places on another day.

1st Clansmann Air Of Menace (Mr K & Miss A Jowers)
Just 17-month-old heavyweight type brindle and white dog, a real powerhouse who really fills your eye. Head is long and wide, completely packed up with oodles of fill. Excellent muzzle depth and deep under-jaw, topped off with a smooth profile. Lovely small eye and ears well used to give the typical wicked expression. Perfect mouth. This dog stands on solid round bone with some to spare leading down to very neat cat feet. Strong arched neck leads to round, well matured fore chest and well sprung rib cage. Correct tail set and solid top-line. Would like a few pounds off to give him a bit more tuck up. Nicely angulated rear. Moved well in front but would like to see more drive and reach from the rear. Well handled and a definite presence in the ring.
2nd Kenleap Brutus For Afanbull (Mr J W Sheehy)
16 month old well marked brindle and white dog – totally different type to first, a smaller, neater cobby male. Rich colour. Excellent head with beautiful fill and power when viewed front on. Deep muzzle and good under-jaw. Slight mouth fault but doesn’t detract. Punishing expression from lovely small eye and excellent ear set which he used all the time. Nice neck into well developed chest and rib, short backed. Enough bone for type and size. Feet could be a tad tighter. Very well muscled all over, was on his toes all the time. Moved better behind than in front where he was a touch wide and so dropped his top-line behind the shoulder. Handled and presented well to show his best attributes.

1st Quentinhill Red Samureye (Miss J S Szewczyk)
Fully matured red and white balanced, typy male. Lovely, strong well filled head with smooth profile and good finish. Typical wicked expression from excellent eye and ears well set, handler had to work hard to get him to use them. Strong deep under-jaw, beautiful muzzle depth, good mouth. Good length of neck which is also strong, leading into a beautifully round gun barrel chest, good shoulder and ample bone. Tight cat feet. Short coupled, deep rib cage and solid top-line. Well laid shoulder, front is straight with tight elbows. Tail is correctly set and held. Shown in hard condition. Once settled he moved out well both ways. This boy is a fabulous package, though he started the day over-awed by the ring and was hard to get to show, he settled over time and his virtues were obvious. If he can find the way to stay on his toes and show himself, I am sure he will fulfil his potential. Delighted to award him DCC
2nd Vataha The Kingpin (Mr T & Mrs A Horton)
Smartly marked red and white male – completely different type to first. Lighter framed terrier type. Would like more power and masculinity throughout for this boy. Head is long with a smooth classic profile, typical eye but ears are set a tad wide. Mouth is ok though under-jaw could be wider to give the canines more room and add to muzzle strength. Adequate bone for type and size, lovely straight front and neat feet. Elegant neck into deep enough chest. Moderate length of back, very nice tail set and well angulated muscled rear. Moved a bit close behind but better in front. A really fabulous temperament on this lad, handled well and shown in good condition. He was a pleasure to go over.

1st Teirwgwyn Gunsman (Mrs A & Miss N Roberts)
Powerhouse tri coloured male – mature and typy with huge substance. Head is completely filled from all angles, not a dent or hollow to be found. Tremendous width and strength all the way through. Deep under-jaw and good mouth. Tiniest eye giving the most wicked expression. Ears were not used much as this boy was a handful to get the best out of. Strong neck into well rounded strong chest. Excellent bone to match his type. Neat feet. Deep brisket, short back. Good tail set. Well-muscled rear. He settled eventually and showed good rear movement, really driving with power. Hope he settles into showing and gives his handler an easier time in future, they worked hard today.
2nd Karmara’s Sugar Daddy (Mrs R & Mr T Karta-Williams & Williams)
Completely different type to first, upstanding mature white with black head marks. Long smooth profiled head with good finish. Good mouth. Excellent small eye, ears could be a tad higher. Deep enough muzzle and under-jaw but would like a bit more power through the head when viewed front on. Elegant neck, leading to well rounded fore-chest and deep rib cage. Enough bone for size and type, excellent straight front and neat feet. Moderate length of back, well angulated rear. Decent shoulder and well tucked elbows. Solid top-line and correct tail set. Moved better in front than behind. Handled perfectly and presented in good condition.

1st Blazinbullys Buffalo Bill (Mr S & Mrs R Mathison)
Uber smart, balanced, compact white with brindle eye. A youngster at 16 months. Excellent small dark eye and small thin ears bang on top giving a typical wicked expression. Smooth profile, long clean head. Enough fill and power, perfect mouth. Under jaw could be a bit deeper. Elegant strong long neck leads to a decently laid shoulder, round chest but still needs to mature on through at this stage. Good bone suiting type. Beautiful neat feet. Short in back with well angulated and muscled rear. Tail held a bit high which can spoil his top line on the move. Moves better behind than in front. This dog presents a clean silhouette standing with nothing overdone, in immaculate condition and always on his toes. I was pleased to award him RDCC.
2nd Dodgecity’s Forged In Gold (Mr W Kinder)
Well marked smart red and white male. Another very nice dog with a lot to like. Beautiful head piece, long, strong and filled with power and strength. Smooth arcing profile and enough depth of muzzle. Excellent eye and ear leading to a typical punishing expression. Would like a slightly stronger under-jaw to complete the picture. Good mouth. Strong, long neck leads to a well rounded chest and a fabulous amount of bone right down to lovely tight feet. Beautiful straight front. A tad long in back leads to a drop in top-line on the move, with a slightly high tail set. Moves better coming than going. Would like a bit more rear angulation. Shown in excellent condition and at one with his handler, lots to like and I am sure there is more to come from him.

1st Furrybeans And Mushrooms (Ms R Urry)
Beautiful rich brindle 7 month old female, very feminine and pretty. Long arcing head with smooth profile and finish, tiniest well set eye gives super expression. Ears set on top and used all the time. Perfect mouth. Fill under the eye, at this early stage she is immature and this will all develop given time. Very elegant neck into a decent shoulder and straight front, chest is fine for age. Neat feet and feminine bone. Moderate length of back, nicely angulated rear. She holds her tail a bit high as most puppies tend to do. Moved out nicely for her age and has clearly had some time and training put into her. Handled really well for only her second champ show. In lovely condition, well done. BP

1st Vetsbullies Made In Heaven (Dr O A & Dr L C Galla)
12 months and 1 day old. Beautifully mature, balanced and typy white with brindle eye patches. Head is long, strong and filled with a perfect mouth and good under-jaw. Lovely small eye which she never took off her handler, ears set well and used all the time. Both giving the typical piercing expression we expect from the breed, do not let the dark eye patches fool you into thinking she has a kinder eye! Elegant curving neck into a well placed shoulder, mature well rounded deep chest and rib cage. Straightest of fronts, lovely bone and neat well arched feet. Short coupled compact body lines, nicely tucked. Well muscled and angulated rear, with good second stifle. Correctly set on tail though still carried a bit puppyish on the move, to be expected at this stage. Everything else about this girl belies her young age, she carries so much maturity. Nothing is overdone, everything in its rightful place. As I expected she moved out beautifully both ways, driving from behind and reaching at the front, at one with her handler. Both are pristinely turned out. I was very pleased to award her the crowning 3rd BCC and then BOB. Later learning she made the cut in the ever competitive Terrier Group was the cherry on the cake. I am sure there will be more to come from this impressive pairing. BCC BOB
2nd Janineabullz Frozen Elsa (Miss J Mcmaster)
12 month old feminine compact terrier type white girl with black head marks. Very pretty girl with a fabulous long head and super sweeping profile. Tiny black eye with a wonderful piercing glint and small thin ears bang on top give this girl a punishing varminty expression. Nicely filled strong muzzle with a good mouth, finish and under-jaw. Very elegant neck flows down into a neat round chest. Nicely laid shoulder and enough depth of rib. Bone tapers off down to feet that could be a bit tighter. I would like a tad more power all through but still young and time to mature on yet. Short coupled, well angulated rear and in excellent hard condition. Tail set correctly but carried a bit high, will probably settle with age. Movement was hard to assess with this excitable girl, she didn’t give her handler an easy time today, always on her toes. If she can learn to settle in the ring I would think she would be one to watch, lots to like.

1st Sif The Goddess At Furrybeans (Ms R Urry)
Very smart red and white feminine terrier type girl. Not a big girl but very pretty and well balanced. Lovely long head with smooth profile. Small ears bang on top and good eye gives typical expression. Good mouth. Would like more fill and power all through, lacking a little in muzzle strength and depth. Long elegant neck into a slightly upright shoulder. Needs a bit more depth of chest. Enough bone for size and type. Excellent straight front. Moderate length of back leads to an adequately angulated rear, tail set on correctly. Top line level. Needs to move with more drive, lacked the expected power from behind for the breed. Handled very well and in lovely condition, just needs to be a bit more animated on the move.

1st Bluepoint Sea Dragon At Tewkabull (Mr J Tewkesbury)
Fully mature, balanced feminine white girl with red ear. Powerful, cobby, compact female. Beautiful long head filled up and powerful from top to tip. Sweeping profile, deep muzzle and strong under-jaw. Slight mouth fault does not detract from this lovely head. Excellent small dark eye and correctly set small ears give a wicked expression. Strong muscular neck into a decent shoulder, excellent round deep chest and rib. Lovely bone leading down to tight round feet. Short coupled and muscular bodylines and good tuck up. Excellent bend of stifle. Correct tail set. Moved out well in front and drove with power from behind although a little close. Slight drop in top-line. Shown in lovely condition and handled well by her experienced handler. This girl won a tough class of lovely bitches today and I was pleased to award her RBCC
2nd Aricon Eyeanna At Olliebrad (Mrs K & Mr M & Mr O Bradley)
Upstanding, mature, balanced feminine white with red eye patch. Different type to first place. Substantial girl with a beautiful long head, sweeping unbroken profile, finish and enough fill with depth but not as powerful and wide as first. Mouth incorrect. Excellent small eye gives a piercing look, ears could be better placed, held a tad wide. Strong under-jaw. Clean elegant neck, leading to well developed gun barrel chest. Decent shoulder and straight front, enough bone. Feet could have more arch and be tighter. Moderate length of back, good top-line. Strongly built all through with well angulated rear. Good tail set. Moved out with power and drive, better in front than behind where she was a tad close. Handled very well and shown in excellent condition.
