BORDER UNION JUNE 15th 2025 MINIATURE SCHNAUZER
I would like to thank Border Union for the invite to judge at the 50th Anniversary championship show and to all my exhibitors who travelled to come and support our wonderful breed.
I had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed my day. However I was very surprised to see a few poor mouths, shoulder placements could have been better and more rear movements that were incorrect than we should be seeing at this level of competition. I was also surprised at the lack of moderately broad flat skulls. Needless to say I found some beautiful dogs to take my top spots.
I will always judge the dog on the day. Another show will bring different results.
Puppy dog 7 ( 1)
1st Lumillion Crazy In Love Mr S & Mr A Lowton- Humphries
What a fantastic class to start my day with !
8mth old, very smart looking P/S male. Neat dark eye, well set ears on a lovely head. Clean planes and good dentition. Moderate neck into super topline that held well on the move. Lovely angulation for both front and rear, with adequate depth of chest and a nice spring of rib.
Moved well at all angles and once his attitude stepped up he was even more delightful. Harsh banded jacket and well presented Delighted to award BPD BPIB and see him go on further to take the utility puppy group 1.
2nd Lumillion Love Struck Mr S & Mr A Lowton-Humphries
Another cracking puppy that fought hard for the top spot. Not surprised to find out they were brothers. Many of the same attributes as his brother but when it came to choosing my winner I preferred the spring of rib and depth of brisket in my winner.

1st Wellingley Wot A Mix Miss K Davidson
Loved everything about this boy. Very neat and smart. Angulations for both front and rear demonstrating clearly on side profile the prescence of both forechest over the breast and a lovely ‘butt’ below tail set to point of buttock. Pleasing head with strong jaws and regular complete bite. Moderate neck strong and slightly arched set cleanly on shoulders and sweeping into a well held topline. Depth of chest and spring of rib both very nice. Carried the ground effortlessly on the move and this gave him the edge today. Some may say a shade feminine for a dog but the standard calls for sturdily built, robust and sinewy so he filled my eye more than enough to award DCC & B.O.S
2nd Penbro Walking On Sunshine Miss R & Miss L Woods
Another super smart boy. 9mth P/S male. Eye catching with pleasing outline. Neat dark eye, longer in muzzle with strong jaw and correct dentition. Moderate neck into firm topline completed with a well set tail.
Slightly heavier over the shoulder than my winner. Thighs slanting flat and strongly muscled and bone strong and straight carried well down to the feet. Full of character that he uses to his advantage. As ever handled to his best.

Pleasing for well developed ribs and depth of brisket. Thighs slanting and firmly muscled. Steep in upper arm arm and lacking forechest in comparison to my class winner. Jacket harsh and wiry. Furnishings thick and full but not silky. As always prepared beautifully.

Movement good from all angles covered the ground well with some extra sass !

Different in type to my winner and another beautiful youngster. Angulations front and rear both very good. Lovely head with clear dark eye, good muzzle, strong jaw and correct dentition. Moderate neck into a well held firm topline and sound movement both away and return. Beautifully prepared in good harsh wiry jacket and textured full furnishings. It was only that I preferred the footfall on side profile of my winner that pipped this youngster to the top spot.

Very typy and robust P/S female. Lovely angulations to both the front and rear. Adequate in forechest, spring of rib and depth of chest . Short and cobby with a neat neck sweeping into a well held topline. Good tail set and moved really well. Pushed hard in the challenge today but I just preferred the head of my main winner. 1st Ch Deneens Fig Tart Mrs A Reeve
I have admired this P/S female ringside for a very long time and secretly I had hoped to be the one to make her up, so I was very keen to see if what I thought I could see I would also be able to feel. Incredibly typy and oozing with schnauzer expression.
Stunning head with neat v shaped ears falling forward over a balanced head and muzzle. Correct dentition. Angulations to front and rear allowing for adequate forechest and a beautiful outline. Super bone throughout and covered in a crisp harsh wiry banded jacket . Moderate neck sloping gently into a lovely well held and firm topline . Short strong loin and completed with a high tail set . Moved straight and correct away and on return and looked beautiful on side profile. She has been known to lose a bit of a sparkle when it gets down to the last challenge of the day but today she kept on giving her best allowing me to award BCC and BOB
2nd Ch Penbro Talk Of The Town JW Miss R & Miss L Woods
Slightly larger cast than my winner but still impressive on side profile. Pretty head with moderately broad skull and neat dark eye. Strong in muzzle with correct dentition.
Strong bone throughout and on side profile she moved well covering the ground. Rear movement was good but I preferred the front movement to my winner
Oozing with character and demands full attention of her handler that was executed with style.
