British Dalmatian Club Championship Show 01/11/2025 - Dogs

Judge: Mrs Lisa Bolt

It was a privilege to judge at one of the Clubs Centenary Shows this year, it was very well organised and an enjoyable day, well done to the committee. Thanks to my main steward Sarah Bonner who was on her own for a lot of the day and kept everything moving very efficiently. Thanks to the exhibitors who entered giving me the opportunity to go over their lovely dogs. Temperaments of all the dogs were excellent. There was evidence on quite a few exhibits of the dreaded “Dally Rash” mainly on heads. Front movements were far better than last time I judged. A couple of apparent things this time were over muscling in general especially over developed at the front .The dogs need to be fit and have toned lean muscles to enable them to do their job, but not overdone as they lose their elegance. There are also a number of exhibits with high tails this is undesirable, this and the former both spoil the outline of the dogs and moves away from the breed standard . Some individuals were displaying both of these traits.

My co-judge Mrs Cathy McCarthy and I were both in agreement on all the final awards.

 Class 1. Baby Puppy Dog

 1st Place

13 - Jemblewood Resolute Stork (Miss C & Ms M Brooks & De Rozario)

This four month old black dog stood alone but didn’t disappoint, nice and chunky which you want to see at this age. Appealing head with a lovely dark eye, good angulations front and rear, well off for bone. Moved steady and balanced for one so young and very outgoing, this is lovely to see, very promising and will be interested to see how he matures. Best Baby Puppy in Show and didn’t know until afterwards that he is the son of my Dog CC winner.

 Class 3. Minor Puppy Dog

1st Place

35 - Mapplewell Rolex with Koroyza (Miss R & Mrs L Croft & Richardson)

Nine month old compact liver dog with masculine head into strong neck and well defined wither. Well developed front for his age, be careful it doesn’t become overdone, elbows sitting close to body and well off for bone. Good spring of rib, slightly shorter in loin, kept good top line standing and on the move. Balanced front and rear angulations. Moved with drive and very well handled. Best Puppy Dog.

 2nd Place

26 - A Spottified Young Forseti for Perdita's (Imp Bel) NAF TAF (L Clement)

Six month old liver dog of a nice type who has lovely head and expression with overall nice even spotting. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulder and good front, elbows sit nicely tucked up to body. Good length of loin and well let down hocks. He is up to size for age and wouldn’t want him too much bigger. Nice puppy, still very much a baby, three months difference between the winner, which is a lot at this age and thus movement not as together and settled as the class winner and still quite lose in front coming toward , which I am sure will get better as matures. The following class he was more settled and in profile has a long flowing stride which won that class easily.

Rear angulations are good and overall well muscled and in hard condition yet still retaining so much elegance, which many seem to lack. He moved true fore and aft and had an all round rhythmic, steady, balanced and efficient movement. I would have liked his handler to have moved him a little faster in profile to show his full potential however you can clearly see by how he is made he would be capable of doing the job he is meant to do. This is a quality dog of the correct size excelling in breed type having clean lines and without any exaggeration that has an outgoing personality who was shown very well. I was pleased to award this lovely boy the Dog Challenge Certificate.
