I firmly believe you can only judge the dogs on the day !

English Setters are first and foremost a Gundog and therefore should be fit for purpose. Unfortunately on the day, whether due to the heat, many were lacking positive driving straight movement and so paid the price.


M Puppy (1) Taylor’s Kanietter Goldmandine of Tattay. 8 math light blue who presented a lovely outline standing. Pleasing head, good reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders, straight front, level top.ine, short coupled. Steady mover for his age. Needs time to develop. BP.

Puppy(6) two lovely youngsters.1. Beasley’s Latjeata Jack’s the Lad. 11 math blue belton.Presented in good coat and condition.Handsome head with dark eyes, lovely reach of neck flowing into good layback of shoulder, decent depth of chest and spring of rib, level top line and good tail set. Nice feet. Moved steadily. 2. Williams’ Bournehouse Secret Adviser, 11 mth blue belton . Very pleasing in outline. Lovely balanced head with kind expression. Nice reach of neck, clean shoulders, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs. Level topline, stifle well let down. Good bone and tight feet. Unfortunately was not happiest on the move today. 3. Parrish, Collins & Collins Tawnymeade Moon Flare.

Junior (3,1) 1. Stead’s Ravensett Illusionist of Settavista. 17 mth blue belton. Lovely masculine head with kind, dark eyes, good reach of neck flowing into nicely set shoulders, decent depth of chest and spring of rib, firm topline, good rear angular ion. Steady sound mover. 2. Card’s Bournehouse Dare to Dream. 13 mth tri. Beautifully presented in good coat and condition. Masculine head with no courseness. Strong lean neck, good clean shoulders, correct depth and spring of rib, level topline with correct tail set. Unfortunately was feeling the heat today and was rather lethargic on the move.

Yearling (6) 1. Whittington’s Culverwell Magic Touch, 22 mth orange belton. Well balanced head, oval skull kind expression. Long muscular neck, good layback of shoulder, straight front, deep in chest with well sprung ribs, level topline well set on tail, good turn of stifle. Moved out well. 2. Goutourbe’s Wansleydale Beekeeper at Redhara, 23 mth tri. Masculine head with dark eye and good expression, strong lean neck into good layback of shoulder, correct springer of rib, strong patterns and eat tidy feet. Good bend of stifle. Moved freely using his tail well. 3. Stead’s R Illusionist of S.

Novice (3,1) Forrest’s Elvistar A Boy Named Sue, orange belton. Masculine head, muscular lean neck leading into well laid back shoulders, deep through the chest, elbows close to body, level topline which he held on the move. Moved freely and with drive. 2. Griffith’s Tawneymeade Moonshine. 10 mth puppy. Lovely head and expression, nice reach of neck, good front angular ion and topline. Settled down by this class and moved out better. 

Graduate (4) 1. Ciaputa’s Ravensett Cote D’Azure JW. Show in lovely coat and condition. Classic head with kind expression. Good length of neck flowing into his shoulders, strong level topline, deep chest, well boned, tight feet. Moved freely with drive, using his tail happily. 2. Forrest’s E A Boy  named Sue. 3. Hendry’s Ilexset Sunny Disposition

P Grad (4) close decision between the first two. 1. Stewart & Quenby’s Tattersett Stolen Silver, blue belton. Lovely masculinehead with no courseness, kind dark eye, low set ears. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders, straight front, good depth of chest, elbows close to his body. Strong topline and hindquarters, good tailset. Moved with drive using his tail . 2. Snook’s Moorbrook Mogul of March. Dark blue who presented a beautiful elegant outline. Classic head with soft melting yet masculine expression. Good reach of neck flowing cleanly into strong topline, well angulated fore and aft. Unfortunately he was lacking enthusiasm and drive in his movement today. 3. Williamsons Hawklawn Sultan of Swing.

Mid Limit (3,1) 1. Pitt’s Wandsfell Dreamkeeper, tri. Lovely well balanced head with gentle expression, dark eye, lowest ears. Strong clean neck leading into well laid back shoulders, straight front with correct width, deep chest, good springer of rib, elbows well tucked in. Firm topline, good bend of stifles giving him the strength to drive on the move covering the ground well, carrying his tail correctly. Pleased to award him the CC. 2. Whittington’s Juldeane Line of Duty, orange belton. Masculine head, good reach of neck and shoulder placement, deep chest with nice springer of rib, firm topline, good bend of stifle and tail set. Moved steadily.

Limit (3,1) Seamen’s Mariglen Just George, blue belton. Well presented in good coat and condition. Lovely head and expression, good reach of neck flowing into clean shoulders, deep in chest, level topline, strong quarters, short hocks. Moved with drive. 2. Car’s Balvenie Blue Lagoon dark blue belton, slightly stronger in head than 1. Strong neck leading into good layback of shoulder and upper arm. Elbows well let down. Deep in chest and straight front. Well boned, good feet.

Open (7, 1) 1. Cooks Sh Ch Pernickety Quiddity, orange belton. Well chiselled masculine head with no hint of courseness, low set ears, correct shape of eye. Good strong reach of neck flowing into clean shoulders, good deep fore chest and spring of rib, firm level topline and muscular in loin. Moved well covering the ground, driving from his hindquarters, using his tail to advantage. Res CC. 2. Pitt’s & Normansell’s Sh Ch Larrenie Heartstopper, orange belton. Refined yet masculine head. Clean neck of good length, correct width to his straight front, good length of rib, short back, level topline and tailset. Moved well, driving - just not as positive behind as winner today. 3. William’s Bournehouse Abracadabra.

Veteran (1) Lawson’s Wansleydale Dorian Gray JW ShCEExOSW tri. Masculine head, dark eye, strong lean neck. Straight front, good depth of chest, well sprung ribs, strong topline which he held on the move, good bone and substance.

Special Beginners (5, 1). 1. stead’s R Illusionist of Settavista 2. Hendry’s  Ilexeset Sunny Disposition, light tri, pleasing head with dark eye, good reach of neck, straight front, deep chest, level topline. Good bone and neat feet. 3. Griffith’s T Moonshine
