South Wales Papillon Club Championship Show
2nd August 2025
Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)
Thanks to the committee for the kind invitation to judge this club show held in partnership with Paignton Championship show. I was delighted with such a good entry so far south and with very few absentees I found several dogs of both sexes that would have been worthy of the top awards. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered and stayed for the club show after an early start for Paignton, I thoroughly enjoyed the appointment!
Baby Puppy Dog (2) Lovely start to proceedings with these gorgeous babies!
1st Whitehill’s AMICAE MOON MADNESS. Not quite 5 months old and looking every bit the cute baby. Smart little outline and such a sweet face with lovely dark eyes and well set and used ears. Happy on the move holding his outline well.
2nd Olof’s TARNOCK BRUCE ALMIGHTY. Almost 6 months old and obviously more forward in development than 1 but wasn’t quite as good in front and little less settled on the move. Still, a very promising baby with beautiful head and expression and typical balance to his outline.
BABY PUPPY BITCH (2)
1st Whitehill’s AMICAE MOON MAGIC. Litter sister to the male and very similar in make and shape but with an extra sassy attitude! Dainty and elegant with typical outline, good topline and tail. Beautiful head and expression with lovely eyes and ears. Smart and light on the move. Best Baby Puppy.
2nd Casey’s SUMMERJADES JUMP IN FOR JOY FOR SHAMAL. Sweet baby who was not as confident as 1 but has a nice shape, dainty with good substance and well set and carried tail. Feminine head with dark eyes and alert expression.
Minor Puppy Dog (2)
1st Orchard’s GENARO VOM SCHWABENHOF WITH PANSPAYON (Imp Due) 6 month b/w with lovely head and expression and already carrying a nice quality coat. Good neck, slender legs, better length of body than 2 and well sprung ribs, tail set high, just needs to settle in topline. Moved with a free, positive action but a little untidy coming towards. Lovely temperament and presentation as always from this kennel.
2nd Carter’s GRAYCAZ MAKING MOONLIGHT. Another 6 month old in beautifully presented silky coat. Soundly made and a nice size with good neck, topline and tail carriage, could be a fraction longer in body. Pretty face with super ears and nicely finished muzzle. A little unsure on the table but happier on the floor where he moved soundly.
Puppy Dog (4)
1st Quinn’s BRESARS’ L’ESSENZIALE (Imp Ita). Very eyecatching tri whose outline appealed most here with lovely neck, topline and tail carriage, fine bone, correct length of leg and nicely balanced length of body, Correctly shaped head with big firm ears, dark eyes, well defined stop, muzzle could be a little finer. Moved well in profile carrying himself proudly and holding his outline firm, could be better out and back but hopefully will improve with maturity. Needs to carry a lot more weight but has plenty of coat to enhance his outline. BPD, RBPIS.
2nd Headley’s YELDAEH’S MR FEZZYWIG. Smaller and more compact with a lot of maturing to do but has good front and rear assembly, adequate neck, sound movement but just needs to settle out and back. Attractive head and intelligent expression with finely finished muzzle, dense pigment and well set and used ears.
3rd Edwards’s LASTAYLA PLAYFUL PONGO
Junior Dog (5) Nice class of youngsters.
1st Mann & Morrell BRAUNSWOOD MASK OF ZORRO BY MELANGEL. This 12 month r/s/w boy was not the most cooperative showman but as soon as the class made their first circuit of the ring he caught my attention. So dainty and well balanced with lovely neck and shoulders, firm topline, good ribbing and well angulated rear. He has fine bone, good feet and a well plumed tail carried over his back. His head still has to finish but already appeals greatly with correct length of muzzle, defined stop, dark rounded eyes and well set large ears with good fringes, used well to enhance his intelligent expression. His movement really set him apart from many of the other males (when he was concentrating!) Light and positive, super out and back and covering the ground well in profile. His fine silky coat completed a lovely picture. I thought he was delightful but he certainly made his handler work hard to try and get the best from him! I seriously considered him for the cc but, at only 12months he still has a little maturing to do both in body and mind so he had to settle for the RCC on this occasion.
2nd Stanbury’s INIXIA GLAMOROUS GUY. Another nice one and I see now that he is a full younger brother to the CC winner and certainly shares many of the same qualities. Lovely for size and balance with fine bone, enough neck, good front and rear assembly and well set and carried tail, just not quite as mature in body as 1 at present. Well proportioned head with lovely eyes, good ears and very nice expression. Moved with purpose and style, just needs a little more maturity and coat to finish but was close up here and certainly of champion quality.
3rd Olof’s TARNOCK LOVE IN PARIS
Yearling (3)
1st Olof’s CH TARNOCK WIGGLE GIGGLE JW. Mature, well coated b/w nearing 2years old who has a super attitude and really makes the most of himself. Very nicely constructed with good front and rear assembly, firm topline, high set tail, good chest and ribbing, fine bone and good feet. Masculine head but still ever so pretty with dark sparkling eyes, lovely ears, defined stop and finely finished muzzle. Moved soundly and accurately in all directions maintaining his elegant outline. Presented in super coat and condition, close up in the challenge.
2nd Thompson, &Austin & Stanbury’s ELENDIL SAN MIGUEL. Litter brother to the CC winner and again built on very similar lines but just lacking the finish of 1. Impressive front and rear assembly, well balanced length of body, good chest and ribbing with firm topline, high set tail carried nicely, fine bone, straight in front and parallel behind. Correctly shaped head with defined stop, well set and used ears, dark eyes, well balanced length of muzzle but would like a finer finish. Super on the move covering the ground with a light, effortless action and good reach and drive. Another that should do well once he’s fully mature.
3rd Casey’s INIXIA HAPPY HOUR FOR SHAMAL
Novice Dog (2)
1st Quinn’s AMBER BEAUTY XANY (IMP Pol). 2yr b/w of lovely type who still has some maturing to do but impresses for size and balance and is presented in beautiful coat and condition. Dainty and elegant with appealing head qualities, large well furnished ears set correctly and used well to enhance his expression, dark eyes, fine muzzle and dense pigment. Ample reach of neck into decent shoulders, fine strong bone, well ribbed back to strong loin with firm topline and well plumed, high set tail. Moved well but just needed to settle a little more to make the most of himself.
2nd Genaro Vom Schwabenhof With Panspayon (Imp Deu)
Graduate Dog (2)
1st Morris’s INIXIA FINEST HOUR WITH RAFMOR. Small and dainty r/s/w with fine bone and good coat. Could have a touch more neck for balance but has firm topline, good spring of rib and well set and carried tail. Pleasant head but could be a little more refined in muzzle, well set and used ears and dark rounded eyes. Moved positively, good out and back and with good carriage in profile.
2nd Quinn’s MAGIC SUNRISE IMPERATOR SON (Imp Lva) 6 yr old r/s/w who moved happily but couldn’t match the profile action of 1. Good for size and shape with well set and carried tail. Pretty, evenly marked head with lovely well furnished ears and nicely finished muzzle.
Limit Dog (5,1)
1st Carter’s GRAYCAZ ON A MISSION JW. Immaculately presented heavily marked r/s/w who is so dainty and elegant and was an easy winner here. So nice to go over with good neck into well laid shoulders, lovely chest, ribbing and substance, firm topline, well angulated rear, strong fine bone and lovely feet. Beautiful head and expression enhanced by super ears and fabulous fringes. Moved very nicely out and back, light and positive in profile, tail carried just a little too tight and could have a little more reach and drive. Another that I considered in the challenge and I’m sure will gain his crown with the usual luck.
2nd Morrell’s MELANGEL MAGIC MIX. Nice enough for shape and balance with good chest and ribbing, presented in good coat and condition. Pleasing head shape with well set and used ears, eyes could be darker. Moved with a sound, fluid gait.
3rd Morris’s TARNOCK TAP DANCE TEDDY
Open Dog (6)
1st Stanbury’s ELENDIL KNIGHTS TEMPLAR AT INIXIA. This 22month b/w headed a nice class of males which included the rcc winner from the last time I judged who just so happened to be his sire! He was unmatched for movement here with a totally accurate, light and flowing action, covering the ground well and carrying himself elegantly with head high and well plumed tail carried well over his back. Super sound construction with good neck and shoulders, straight front, firm level back with strong loin, well sprung ribs, deep chest and well angulated rear. His head is masculine and symmetrically marked with well furnished firm, mobile ears, dark expressive eyes and correct length of muzzle which could be just a touch finer. He is ever so attentive to his handler and has such an appealing expression, was always stood to an advantage showing off his well balanced outline with plenty of well presented silky coat completing the picture. Although there were several very nice males who I would happily have signed a green card for none of them could quite match the super construction and impressive movement of this boy. DCC, BOS.
2nd Whitehill’s NORTHLYTE BUFFALO BILL. A touch smaller and ever so dainty and elegant but still with enough substance for his size. Good front and rear assembly, deep chest and good ribbing, strong loin and high set tail which could have more lift, a little shorter in body than 1. Sweet face with rounded eyes, good ears, finely finished muzzle and intelligent expression. Moved well holding his outline firm.
3rd Wells & Brown’s SKYVANA CAUGHT AT METAMORPHIC
Special Open Phalene Dog (1)
1st Sellick’s PINKMEAD TIME LORD AT INIXIA. 4 yr tri who is well constructed with fine strong bone, good neck and shoulders, well balanced length of body and well angulated rear. Such a sweet face with correctly set ears, balanced length of muzzle, finely finished with strong jaw, dark sparkling eyes and an appealing expression. Very nice on the move, parallel out and back and covering the ground with a good length of stride in profile while holding his outline firm. Just needs to carry a little more weight. Best Phalene In Show.
Minor Puppy Bitch (2,1)
1st Whitehill’s NORTHLYTE UNDER THE BOARDWALK. Standing alone but more than a worthy winner. 8 month b/w in prisitine, well marked, silky coat. Small and feminine with very good chest and ribbing for age, strong loin, level topline and well set and carried tail. Pretty face with alert expression, good ears, set and used well, defined stop and balanced length of muzzle which is fairly fine with strong jaw and good mouth. So happy and alert, moving with purpose, light and free flowing looking a picture in profile. A very promising puppy who showed her socks off to take BPIS.
Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Diprose’s LASTAYLA PERFECT PURDY TO LILACROSE. Another promising puppy, ever so elegant with nice balance to her outline, good neck, straight front, good bone and feet, well sprung ribs and good rear angulation. Feminine head of good proportions with nice dark eyes, fine muzzle, defined stop and well set ears. Moved well, just needs to settle in topline. Presented in good coat, should mature well.
JUNIOR BITCH (4) Nice class of youngsters.
1st Olof’s TARNOCK ROSALINE. Very elegant 13 month old whose outline appealed here with lovely neck and topline, high set tail, correct length of leg, fine bone and good feet. Feminine head of typical proportions with well set mobile ears, dark eyes and nicely finished muzzle. Moved well, light and flowing, carrying herself well in profile. Should make a lovely adult with a little more maturity and coat.
2nd Stanbury’s INIXIA SOMETHING SPECIAL. Younger sister to the dcc winner and again the conformation and movement is very similar with every part fitting perfectly together and allowing for sound accurate movement with good reach and drive. A little heavier in head than I’d like but has nice eyes and ears. Very attentive and lively, needs a little more coat to finish.
3rd Orchard’s PANSPAYON SAPPHIRE
Graduate Bitch (1)
1st Walklett’s ANGULLYON’S HERMIONE. Small, feminine and of pleasing proportions with good substance and fine bone. Pretty face with good finish of muzzle and well set and used ears. Smart moving in profile but could be better coming towards.
Class 21 – Post Graduate Bitch (1)
1st Walklett’s FARTHINGHALL DAINTY DORIS AT ANGULLYON. Nearing 3 years old with decent neck and shoulders, could stand straighter in front, long in body with level topline and good rear angulation. Well shaped head with good muzzle, defined stop, mobile ears and alert expression. Moved happily.
Limit Bitch (4)
1st Austin & Thompson’s ABLAZZOR EBONY AND IVORY AT JHANAKIA. This neat little b/w was just 6months old when I last judged with her super sound movement winning her a class back then. 2 years later and yet again her sound construction and light, purposeful movement won her this class! Not in the best coat but has nothing to hide being nicely balanced all through with impressive front and rear angulation, good chest and ribbing, strong loin, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Pleasing head and expression, could be a touch finer in muzzle but it is the correct length with strong jaw and tight lips. Ears are set correctly, nicely furnished and used well to enhance her expression. Very attentive and was handled to an advantage.
2nd Walklett’s ANGULLYON ENIGMA’S SECRET. Funnily enough this glamourous girl stood 2nd to 1 the last time too (if nothing else I’m consistent!) A touch longer in body so not quite the balance of 1 but carrying a beautifully presented coat, good for neck, balanced front and rear angulation, well sprung ribs and slender legs. Head of good proportions with nice finish of muzzle and dark eyes. Moved well out and back and looked nice enough in profile.
3rd Headley’s YELDAEH’S MRS PEPPERPOT
Open Bitch (8, 2) Best class of the day, I was spoilt for choice and any of these lovely girls would have been a worthy winner however on the day it came down to a battle between 1 & 2 who were so similar for size and type it was very hard to split them and ultimately they ended up bis & rbis.
1st Robb’s CH GLENIREN MIRACLE STARMAKER. This dainty little butterfly could not have done any more to clinch the win here, absolutely showing her socks off, always stood to an advantage, immaculate fine, silky coat enhancing her outline and gleaming with health. Small and elegant in outline with lovely neck and shoulders, superb chest, ribbing and substance to her body which is a good length with strong loin and perfect topline. She has fine bone and good feet standing straight in front and parallel behind with well plumed tail set high and carried nicely over her back. Ultra feminine, well balanced head with fine muzzle, dense pigment, slightly rounded skull between well set ears which are well furnished and enhance her sweet expression. Moved with such a light, purposeful action with outline never faltering and flowing coat adding to her elegance as she circled the ring. She just moved with a touch more reach in front than 2 and even though she is a year younger she is just a little more mature in body and finished in coat but it was the narrowest of margins that split them. After topping this class the hard work was done and I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC and later BIS.
2nd Ryan& Roosens & Goessens, Mrs K.F. & Miss K & Mr J. MULTI Ch VISIBLE SECRET DAYDREAM BELEIVERS (Imp BEL) Another elegant feminine butterfly who was so similar in size and shape to 1, perhaps just a fraction shorter in body but still with such a beautiful outline, graceful neck into firm topline, slender legs, good front and rear angulation and high set, beautifully plumed tail carried perfectly over her back. Her head is delightful with defined stop, finely finished muzzle, dark expressive eyes, the densest of pigment and her crowning glory...her fabulous ears. Large, firm and mobile with super fringes, set and used perfectly, enhancing her intelligent expression. She moved with a positive, light, elegant action covering the ground well and looking a picture in profile. Quality silky coat presented without a hair out of place, but she could carry just a little more for perfection. After awarding the CC I called her back in no doubt she would take the RCC and again for RBIS, her beautiful head gave her the edge over the male. RBCC, RBIS.
3rd Orchard’s PANSPAYON PENNYROYALE JW. I must also mention this beautiful girl, probably the best moving of the 3 for accuracy, beautifully balanced in outline with super head properties but just a touch more of her all through which gave the others the edge. I was pleased to hear she had gained her crown that morning at Paignton and certainly is a very worthy champion. Congratulations.
Veteran Bitch (3)
1st Olof’s TARNOCK DEVORE. It was lovely to see this veteran again, I had previously awarded her BV as an 8 year old and now at 10 she still impressed greatly and continues to hide her age so well. Typical balance to her outline with good neck and shoulders, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Pretty face with super, well furnished ears, dark eyes and well finished muzzle. Moves with a free, positive action, a little wide coming towards but at this age that’s more than forgivable! A real credit to her owner/breeder and my pleasure to reward her again. BVIS.
2nd Wells & Brown’s METAMORPHIC VISTA JW. 7 years on the day and another that hides their years well! Lovely size and type but just carrying a little too much weight so lost a little of her elegance. Soundly constructed with good chest and ribbing, well balanced length of body, good rear angulation and high set tail. Feminine head, correctly shaped and well proportioned with fine muzzle, good mouth and dense pigment with well set and used ears. Move happily and presented well.
3rd Walklett’s ANGULLYON’S SECRET DELIGHT
