With Toy day falling on a Monday it wasn’t that surprising that the entry wasn’t record breaking however with only 4 absent I ended up with rather a nice quality entry with more than a few dogs worthy of the top awards. It was a warm sunny day and we didn’t get into the ring until midday when the temperature was rising so the conditions weren’t ideal for the dogs with most squinting in the sunshine so eyes were almost impossible to assess and some feeling the heat and not moving as well as they could. I’m certain judging the same entry in the cool indoors could have altered the results but I can only judge what I see on the day! I was delighted that the group judges all appreciated the dogs I sent through with the BOB shortlisted in a quality group and both the Puppy and Veteran taking 4th in their respective groups, well done!
Minor Puppy Dog (1)
1ST Sharlarna Pablo Escabar del Craimose (Mr C F Young). A lovely start to the entry with this super fun 6 month old baby of obvious quality. Small and compact with lovely cobby body, fine bone, good feet and high set tail carried well over his back. Gorgeous head and expression, broad rounded skull, short muzzle with ample cushioning and nicely finished lips. Moved with attitude just needs to settle in front and firm in topline but certainly has all the essentials to finish well, BP, Puppy Group 4.
Yearling Dog (1)
1ST Dalehouse Royal Sceptre (Mrs C M & Mr L & Dr R Oatridge & Grogan & Irvine). Very soundly constructed youngster who presents a well balanced outline but I’d just like a bit less of him overall. Correctly shaped, masculine head with typical expression, short well cushioned muzzle, good nostrils, large eyes showing enough white and neat, well feathered ears. Moved well, a little untidy coming, very good behind. Presented in beautiful coat and condition.
Limit Dog (9)
1ST Kirdanchi Moves Like Jagger avec Craimose (Mr C F Young), This 3 year old beautifully marked b/w dog headed a lovely class with his size and type appealing greatly. Small, compact and ever so smart with profuse silky coat enhancing his outline. Adequate neck, good front and rear assembly, short cobby body, slender legs and lovely feet. His head is delightful, fairly large, broad and rounded between small ears, correctly placed large dark eyes showing enough white and well cushioned muzzle with neatly finished lips and such a typical expression. He moved with accuracy and style holding his outline firm with good elevation in front and carrying his tail well over his back. Such a showman, he never put a foot wrong to take the DCC and BOB.
2ND Cranvarl The Red King of Jakconas (Miss Tong). This little r/w has matured beautifully since I last saw him and although initially he didn’t catch my eye, as the class progressed he appealed more and more. Super for size and shape, small, compact and squarely built with strong fine bone, firm level topline and fairly cobby body. Lovely head properties with pleasing expression. It was his movement that really impressed, particularly in profile as he circled the ring with confidence, head held proudly, topline firm and high set tail carried correctly. Still has a little bit more maturing to do but should never be overlooked. Considered him for the RCC.
3RD Jaschin Paw Star (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green)
Open Dog (4)
Another nice class with all 4 having qualities to admire and could stand in any order on a different day.
1ST Jaschin Working Man I Am (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green). As always from this kennel a super, confident showoff who was always stood to an advantage. Good for size and substance with fine bone, good feet, short cobby body, level topline and good reach of neck allowing for a proud head carriage. Broad, masculine head with soft curves, large eyes and desired expression. Sound and confident on the move, the best out and back in the class and maintaining his outline perfectly as he circled the ring with good elevation in front. Mature for his age and no doubt champion quality. RCC.
2ND Bentwood Candide (Dr A Schemel) You really need to get your hands on this 5yr old dog to appreciate him. His very profuse coat hides his well constructed, well balanced outline making him look a little stuffy but nothing could be further from the truth! Squarely built, compact and cobby with slender legs, good feet, broad chest and good ribbing, level topline and tail plumed over his back. Very nice head qualities, broad and rounded between his high set ears, large eyes showing enough white to give the desired astonished expression, short cushioned muzzle, good nostrils and neatly finished lips. Very accurate on the move, not the most stylish but free and accurate with enough elevation
3RD Ch Sharlarna Swindler JW (Mrs T & Mr A Quinn)
Veteran Bitch (1)
1ST Ch Swifthocks Paws for Thought JW (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green). Fabulous 8yr old who can still give the youngsters a run for their money! Small, compact and so feminine with the most beautiful head and expression, just starting to grey giving away her age a little but this just adds to her charm. Presents such a typical outline with enough neck, lovely front and rear assembly, short cobby body and firm topline both standing and on the move. She moved so well, easily one of the best of the entry, accurate, stylish and holding her outline perfectly as she circled the ring. Such a credit to her owners who presented her in wonderful condition. I considered her in the challenge and she was very close up just missing out to the youngsters who were in full bloom. Nevertheless a super example of the breed who took Best Veteran and later Veteran Group 4, congratulations!
Puppy Bitch (5)
1ST Adreeam Alice (Mr C Gullon) Ultra feminine 11month r/w who headed a nice class of babies. She coped with the heat and uneven ground the best here, holding her outline perfectly as she circled the ring with head held proudly and topline firm displaying good elevation in front. Sweet face with broad, rounded skull, large dark eyes showing enough white to give the desired expression, short cushioned muzzle and neatly finished lips. Squarely built with ample reach of neck, good shoulders, level topline, well angulated rear, fine bone and good feet. Has plenty of maturing to do but should finish well in time. BPB.
2ND Somergemz Oh My Ophelia (Mr & Mrs K Calvert) Another promising baby, this one a nicely marked b/w, similar in size to 1 and perhaps a touch more mature at this stage with a short body, balanced front and rear angulation, slender legs, good topline and well set and carried tail. Pretty head and appealing expression. Moved well especially in profile.
3RD Sangria Dolly Mixture (Mr G.w Farmer)
Junior Bitch (4)
1ST Adreeam Ruby with Somergemz (Mr & Mrs K Calvert) Easy winner here, litter sister to the previous class winner but much more mature and in beautiful coat for a puppy. Pleasing outline just could be a touch shorter in body, decent shoulders, well sprung ribs, good topline and well angulated rear. Lovely head qualities with well spaced dark eyes, short, wide muzzle, well cushioned with neatly finished lips. Such a lovely attitude and handled to really get the best out of her moving smartly around the ring and totally attentive to her handler. Just preferred the slightly more compact frame of her sister for bpb but she still appealed greatly.
2ND Rakuchin Leap of Faith (Ms T & Ms S Pearce & Hann) 14 months old and still very raw. Small and feminine with fine bone, compact frame, lovely topline and tail carriage. Sweet face with pleasing expression. Moved happily with good elevation, just needs time to mature fully.
3RD Sharlarna Lady Danger for Hermosoangel (Miss B Newbery)
Yearling Bitch (7,1)
1ST Norvanik Candy Kisses (Mr C & Mr D Van De Burgt & Strange) 19month b/w who appealed immediately for size, balance and type. Small, compact and squarely built with lovely chest and ribbing, short loin and well angulated rear. Lovely cobby body, fine bone and super feet. Beautiful head and expression, broad and rounded between neat high set ears, large dark eyes, correct nose placement with good nostrils, good width of jaw, neat lips and well cushioned muzzle with just the most beautiful expression. Moved with purpose and style, head held proudly, topline level and well feathered tail carried perfectly. She was presented in superb coat and condition and showed her heart out even in the heat. I thought she was quite delightful and was pleased to award her the CC. I’m sure she will carry her title in no time. BCC, BOS.
2ND Bentwood Iki Ningyo (Dr A Schemel) Yet another super quality bitch, just 18months and not quite the maturity and coat of the winner but with a little more time I think she will be most impressive. Small, feminine and aristocratic with good front and rear assembly, ample reach of neck, firm topline and slender legs with good feet. Her head and expression appealed greatly with gentle curves, good with of jaw, well spaced dark eyes with enough white to give the desired look of astonishment. She moved with accuracy in all directions carrying herself well in profile and displaying some elevation in front. Will be interested to see her as the finished article.
3RD Sharlarna All Eyes On Me (Miss L Bradley)
Novice Bitch (2)
1ST Spiritisle Queen of Hearts (Mrs J G Cushing) 18 months old of nice size with good topline and tailset, well developed body for age, little long for ideal balance. Pretty face with nice eyes and expression. Moved happily.
2ND Threadgold Choir Girl (Mrs S E Steele). Very uncooperative on the move, possibly feeling the heat which was a shame. Nice for size and substance with fine, strong bone, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Correctly shaped head, eyes could be a little darker.
Post Graduate Bitch (2,1)
1ST Spiritisle Fairy Magic (Mrs J G Cushing). Feminine and elegant but could carry a little more weight. Good reach of neck, level topline and high set tail, fine bone, could be a little more compact for ideal balance. Pleasant head and expression. Moved well in profile, could be better out and back. Lovely temperament.
Limit Bitch (3,1)
1ST Jaschin Curtain Call (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green) Very smart little 2yr old daughter of the BV and you can certainly see the resemblance. So typical in outline with good reach of neck allowing for proud head carriage, level topline, good spring of rib and short cobby body, slender legs and good feet. Feminine head of correct shape with neat high set ears, beautiful large dark eyes, short well cushioned muzzle and good width of jaw with lips finished neatly. Moved with style, very good out and back and holding her outline well in profile. Another who should gain her title with the usual luck.
2ND Sharlarna Conchita for Meglind (Mrs S E Lindley) Not quite as dainty and compact as 1 but still has much to admire not least her beautifully presented coat and delightful temperament. Sound construction with good ribbing, balanced front and rear angulation, cobby body and fine bone. Very pretty head, broad and rounded with nice eyes, good nostrils, short, well cushioned muzzle and good underjaw. Moved freely, wasn’t as good as 1 out and back.
Open Bitch (5,1)
Another nice open class and much like the dogs I’m sure they could all change place on a different day.
1ST Ch Cranvarl Maude (Miss Tong). I awarded this exquisite r/w her 1st RCC last time I judged the breed and she then went on to gain her title with little trouble. Now fully mature she is such a beauty, small, dainty, compact and so aristocratic, carrying a fabulous coat and presented in immaculate condition. Well constructed and well balanced with fine bone, fabulous feet, compact frame and super topline and tail. Her head was the best of the day, feminine, correctly shaped with soft curves, fabulous eyes, neat ears and the desired look of astonishment. Moves so well in all directions with good elevation in front and accuracy out and back. She didn’t quite cope as well with the hot weather and could have carried a little more weight which gave the younger bitch the edge in the challenge but I really was splitting hairs! I was delighted to judge her again, fully mature and in full bloom and again awarded her the RCC.
2ND Ch Sharlarna Eye Candy JW (Mrs T & Mr A Quinn) Another from the top drawer who has much to admire. Such a little show girl, totally attentive to her handler and always making the most of herself. Neat, square outline, elegant and feminine with good substance and fine strong bone. Adequate reach of neck, level topline, lovely cobby body with good chest and ribbing, short loin and well angulated rear. Correctly shaped head with well spaced eyes, short cushioned muzzle and good width to underjaw. Moved with purpose and accuracy but didn’t quite carry herself as well as 1 in profile. Presented in fabulous coat and condition as always from this kennel, she was unlucky to come up against a favourite of mine!
3RD Threadgold Starstruck JW (Mrs S E Steele)
