English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan)
My first time awarding CC’s in the breed and although not numerically strong the quality was still evident and I found out later that amongst the entry were 4 Toy Group winners who had already amassed over 60 CC’s between them. As it happened it was these 4 dogs that took home the green cards and although it was a little disappointing to have no puppies or special beginners entered to send forward to the groups the beautiful Veteran Minnehaha made up for it by winning BVIS, congratulations!

1. Lasagesse Dazed N'confused (Mr G & Mrs L Dixon) 14months old and wasn’t very happy in the noisy hall so didn’t make the most of himself which was a shame as he is a lovely type with attractive outline, good neck, straight front, good depth of chest and well angulated rear. Masculine head of good length with good fill beneath his dark eyes, slight stop and strong jaw. Moved with a smooth, easy stride just tending to flatten out a little and carry his tail a little higher than I’d prefer. Quality youngster who I’d imagine will carry his title in time.

1. Spawood Hey Mickey (Messrs P & A Conway & Oakden) 14months old and still has some maturing to do but presents a nice outline in profile, compact and elegant with good chest and ribbing, fine bone and well angulated rear. Wedge shaped head with small dark eyes, high set ears and keen expression. Moved steadily with some extension in front and super tail carriage.

1.Amalric Paco Rabanne (Mrs W Imrie) Nice size, compact with good topline, well sprung ribs, straight front and well constructed rear. Masculine, wedge shaped head with the darkest of eyes, strong jaw, well set and used ears and alert expression. Moved well but his tail carriage let him down.
2.Edalene Upside Down JW (Mrs C & Miss R Inch) Soundly constructed with a nice outline, good neck and shoulders, deep narrow chest and well sprung ribs just not quite as compact as 1. Strong head with small dark eyes and alert expression, ears set a little wide apart. Moved soundly with some extension in front, accurate out and back.

1. Ch Witchstone Black Hawk at Amalric JW (Mrs W Imrie) Just 3 days short of his 7th birthday but not looking like a veteran at all! Sleek, curvy outline with long arched neck, deep narrow chest, straight front, good topline and underline with well angulated rear, fine bone and good feet. Handsome, wedge shaped head of good length with well set ears, good fill under small dark eyes, strong jaw and tight lips. Dense glossy coat of good colours, in fit muscular condition and certainly fit for function! Moved accurately out and back and circled the ring with good reach and drive maintaining his outline at all times. Didn’t put a foot wrong to take the DCC (his 18th ) and I heard later became the top winning living ETT male, congratulations.
2. Ch Amalric Butch Cassidy JW (Mrs W Imrie) 2yr old son of 1st presented in equally as beautiful condition with coat gleaming and clean, elegant outline. Compact and balanced in outline with good topline, deep chest, good ribbing and well angulated rear. Lovely head and keen expression from his small dark eyes. Moved soundly just couldn’t quite match his fathers accuracy and style.

1. Ch Witchstone Place Your Bets at Capledrae JW ShCEx OSW (Mr R & Mrs M Bennett) One I have encountered several times over the years and he never disappoints! Just a month into veteran and he’s sure to have a super veteran career in this form. So well made and balanced with long arched neck, good shoulders, straight front, deep narrow chest, good topline and underline and sound rear. Masculine head of good length with well set candle flame ears, small dark eyes and strong jaw. Super profile movement with the desired extension in front and good drive from the rear with outline held firm. Close up in the challenge with the open dog just coming towards a little cleaner on the day but no denying his quality, RCC.

1.Witchstone Limited Edition (Mr A Leonard) Feminine 13month old who was the best here for shape and balance both standing and on the move. Compact and elegant with fine bone and nice curves with good body for her size and although smaller she is in no way weedy. Pretty, wedge shaped head with lovely ears and the darkest of eyes. Moved freely, the most accurate in the class with tail carried fairly well. Still has plenty of maturing to do but has all the essentials to finish very well indeed.
2.Spawood Proud Mary with Ghilgrange (Ms Da & Mr A Hall & Oakden) Also 13months and again needs time to mature fully. Fairly deep chest, good ribbing for age, good topline and underline, fine bone and low set tail. Lovely head and keen expression, well set ears, small dark eyes with good fill beneath, slight stop and strong jaw. Handled expertly and presented in beautiful condition. Sound moving with great attitude but didn’t cover the ground quite as well as 1.

2.Fera Mitis Argante of Avalon with Witchstone (Mrs Wendy & Mr A Imrie & Leonard) 13 months old and although had lots to like she just wasn’t very settled in the noisy hall and was not making the most of herself especially on the move. Lovely size and shape with good spring of rib, correct topline and rounded rear with well turned stifles, fine bone and good feet. Wedge shaped head with correctly set ears, slight stop and strong jaw. Moved well out and back but didn’t settle enough in profile.

1. Nasabe Royal Rose with Airambech (Mrs M J Goodfellow) Compact and shapely with arched neck, good front assembly, well sprung ribs and well angulated rear. Long, wedge shaped head with high set ears and strong jaw, would like a darker eye. Moved freely holding her outline better than 2 although tail carriage could be better. Lovely confident attitude.
2.Edalene Scoops Ahoy (Mrs C & Miss R Inch) Nice size and in fit condition as always from this exhibitor. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, when she settles she has a good topline but she did tend to tuck up a bit losing her outline. Well shaped head of good length with well tapered muzzle, strong jaw, dark eyes and alert expression. Moved freely.

Nice class with much to admire in them all.
1. Ch Nasabe Play The Game JW (Mrs H & Mr J Haffenden & Wood) 2 yr old daughter of the CC winner and the resemblance is clear to see. Small, elegant and compact with clean outline, fine bone, thick glossy coat of good colours and defined tans. Arched neck into good shoulders, good topline, well sprung ribs and nicely constructed rear. Feminine head with dark sparkling eyes, high set candle flame ears, strong jaw and tight lips. Had the most impressive profile movement in the class with good reach and drive whilst holding her outline firm. Such a little showgirl I thought she would surely be my CC winner until the last class walked in and her mother snatched it from right under her nose! So on this occasion she had to settle for the RCC but I’m sure she had plenty more big green cards in her future (if mum stops cramping her style!!)
2.Witchstone Silent Prayer (Mr A Leonard) Another Witchstone beauty who, at only 20months, still isn’t the finished article and didn’t quite make as much of herself as 1 but is easily of champion quality and is sure to gain her title with little trouble. Super size, compact and balanced with good front and rear assembly, fine bone, correct topline and underline. Pretty head with dark almond shaped eyes and super expression. Was more accurate out and back than 1 but didn’t go with as much purpose in profile although still displayed good extension in front and drive from the rear with tail carried well. Just needed a bit more ‘look at me’ attitude to really make the most of herself which gave 1 the edge.

1. Ch Witchstone Minnehaha VW (Mrs H & Mr J Haffenden & Wood) I didn’t think I’d have to wait until the last class to find my star of the day but here she was, 8years old and the older sister of the DCC winner I later found out! She is quite simply exquisite and outclassed and outmoved the whole entry. Spot on for size, balance and substance and no doubt could ‘acquit herself in the rat pit’ quite satisfactorily. Small, compact, elegant and well muscled with lovely front and rear assembly, perfect topline and tail set, good underline, fine bone and good feet. Gorgeous head and expression, long, narrow and wedge shaped with strong jaw, beautiful ears and good fill under small dark eyes. Her movement is textbook, effortless and precise with good extension in front and drive behind, totally accurate out and back and maintaining her fabulous outline at all times with tail carried nicely. Shown in optimum condition and handled to an advantage there was no beating her, even though her daughter tried! CC (her 22nd) which made her the top winning living ETT, BOB and BV. I was absolutely delighted to see her top the Veteran group and return to win a well deserved BVIS, she is a credit to her breeders, owners and the breed as a whole, well done!
2.Edalene Never Let Me Go VW (Mrs C & Miss R Inch) A quality 9yr old who also looks super for her age and was no shame in standing 2nd here. Compact and shapely with lovely spring of rib, good topline, straight front and well angulated rear. Nice head qualities with well set ears, good fill under her small dark eyes, tapered muzzle and strong jaw. Moved accurately and covered the ground fairly well but couldn’t match the reach and drive of 1. In good coat with well defined tan markings which could be a little richer. A lovely veteran in impressive condition.
