Birmingham Invicta Pekingese Club Open Show 06/04/2025
I spent a lovely weekend in the Kingdom of the Imperial Pekingese. My utmost thanks to the officers and committee of the Birmingham Invicta Pekingese Club UK for the invitation to judge at your breed speciality open show. Thank you to the exhibitors for the opportunity to appreciate your lovely dogs, and to my two wonderful stewards for keeping the ring running so smoothly. The "China: Through the Looking Glass" theme for the Met Gala and Costume Institute exhibition took place on the first Monday in May, 2015. I am quite certain Dame Anna Wintour must have consulted Winnie Mee and Liz Stannard on how to put on a show with a Chinese theme! The whole show was a work of art! From the decor, to the sporting exhibitors that gave a great cheer of applause for every single class and main award winners, and the hospitality! The hospitality and warm welcome from the whole club and exhibitors was so heartwarming. It was all just a pleasure. Thank you.

His large head houses beautifully dark, rounded eye that are so very lustrous. Excellent open nostrils. Nice width to under-jaw. Excellent ear set, set level with his skull. He has a strong front, with excellent fore-chest. Excellent bone and substance throughout. Level top-line, with excellent tail set. His coat is the most beautiful texture. Course top coat with softer undercoat. He has beautiful feathering in all of the right places, I would go so far as to say he is very glamorous, like a peacock! He has just the right amount, anymore would spoil his lovely pear shape. He moves with such confidence around the ring, he has such adoration for his owner handler, and its very clear the feeling is mutual. I think he is a most exciting dog, when fully mature, watch out world! Best Male & Reserve Best In Show.

1-Rogers, Ms C - CH Ralshams Lady Ma Donna
Miss Glamour! She positively oozes femininity! I adored her size and type! Her large, wide skull houses the most captivating of headpieces. Gorgeous, large, round, ever so lustrous pair of eyes. Beautiful, elegant finish to face with excellent width to under-jaw. Well set ears that are beautifully, profusely feathered and really frame her feminine face. Relatively short neck into nicely laid shoulders. Excellent elbows. Her depth of chest is excellent with super ribbing. Pear shaped body. Her bone and substance throughout was excellent, while retaining her femininity. Level topline with excellent tail-set. Beautifully feathered, flat feet. Super pear shape to body. Strong rear that was nicely angulated. I loved her amount of feathering. Not over-coated in any way to hide her shape, just lots of beautiful feathering with mane. A true Lioness with aura to match! Her coat was of excellent texture, coarse topcoat with softer undercoat. I was happily surprised how heavy this elegant Empress was to pick up! She moved at a dignified, rolling pace. Best Female & Best In Show.
Veteran Bitch (1,0)
1-Tilsed, Ms P - Pekehuis No Persuasion At Shiera.
This lady brought enough Joie de vivre for the whole show! If my catalogue did not say it in black and white, I would not believe she is a Veteran! I absolutely adored her type! She has the sweetest of faces, with beautiful feminine expression. Her eyes are large, dark, round and ever so lustrous. Her coat is of excellent texture, groomed to perfection, glamour personified! Beautiful feathering of excellent texture in all of the right places, and it by no means effects her movement, she powers around the ring with her dignified roll, moving so very soundly and happily. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to appreciate this Empress in such wonderful condition. One the breed can be most proud of, a credit to both her devoted owner and breeder.
