Eukanuba Champion Stakes

Day 1 (Hound & Terrier)

1: TEBBUTT, Mrs D Ch Caredig Mafioso, what an outstanding dog this Irish Wolfhound is. Judged him earlier in the year and he is just improving all the time. To have a dog of this size and substance move as soundly as he does is remarkable. He has the most beautiful head and expression. Strong in neck into perfect topline. Superb forehand and totally balanced behind with great muscle tone. He is upstanding with great bone and wonderful feet. Coat of superb texture. Very special.

2: YACOBY WRIGHT, Mrs Lynn , Ch Cobyco Catch Your Eye. Top class Whippet of real quality and in superb condition and muscle tone. He is curvy and has a most impressive outline. Super head and expression, balanced in angulation and correct body condition. On the move he has an ease of stride and puts his feet in the right place.

3: HOWLETT, Miss Roisin & PHILLIPS, Mrs V Ch Tendrow Malibar JW

Day 2: (Gundog)

1: CLARK, Ms Jan & SHARP, Mrs Claire & SHARP, Mr Lee Sh Ch Affilato You Can Bank On It JW, A most impressive Italian Spinone dog who has the most wonderful outline and was in wonderful muscle condition and coat. He has a glorious head and expression. Correct topline and carries his tail correctly. On the move he just cannot be ignored and he really impressed in profile today as the big ring really suits him.

2: CORBETT, Mrs Ann Sh Ch Trimere Time Fly's, have given the super ESS bitch a CC and BOB, so no surprise that I rate her. She is so typical in outline, firm topline, correct tail set and moved out well holding her outline. A really lovely bitch, beautifully put down.

3: CHARLISH, Miss Ellen Sh Ch Gunalt The Hangover JW

Day 3: (Working & Pastoral)

1: CLARK, Mr Eric & CLARK, Mrs Dorothy Ch Garsak Summer Days At Mintrex, Superior Great Dane, that I have previously awarded a CC to and she looks even better. Her outline is breathtaking and she has an air about her that you just can’t ignore. Her head and expression are a delight, she flows from neck into firm topline and is balanced totally in angulation. On the move she held herself perfectly and was totally sound in action. Classy girl indeed.

2: PEARSON, Miss D Ch Edglonian Golden Graham, well known Shetland Sheepdog who totally deserves the reputation that he has so rightfully earned. He impresses in outline, has a balanced head and wonderful alert expression. In wonderful coat that was masterfully presented. Moved sensibly on the right track and kept his outline. Superb.

3: RUAL - KEOGH, Mrs N UK Ch Gilcoru Wolfblass D'brie

Day 4: (Toy & Utility)

1: CROSSLEY, Mr David & CROSSLEY, Mrs Susan Ch Santosha Silhouette, I gave this fabulous Shih Tzu the group at Manchester earlier this year and she continued to impress me today. She really is an exceptional example of her breed and on the move she is quite breathtaking. Presented to perfection, I do love her.

2: DAVIES, Mr G Ch Waterley Heart Breaker, coincidentally, my Group 2 from Manchester and he too is a superb example of his breed. Another who was masterfully presented and in the most wonderful condition. Sound as a pound and keeps the most typical outline.

3: ROBB, Mrs I & ROBB, Mr Glenn Ch Gleniren Miracle Starmaker

Overall Final:

This final four, for me, gave me quite a headache as I loved them all. So it was down to performance on the day. The Irish Wolfhound quite simply, was on top of his game, foot perfect and defying me to ignore him. It was he that won me over and I wish him well for the finals.
