Judges Report for Scottish Kennel Club 1 – May show – Rottweilers

Minor Puppy Dog - Entries: 5 Absentees: 2

1st - Taneven Dutch (Mrs J & Mr M Fell) – I was very impressed with the quality in all the puppy classes and I was not surprised to find the first two puppy’s in this class are litter brothers, I also judged two of their sisters later in the day and was impressed with them too, it would seem a lovely litter all round. It was very hard to split these two, this young male won over his brother simply because he was a tad more together on the move going away, he scores well in head which is at just the right stage for this age and displays balance in muzzle to skull, his eyes are dark and set well, rims could be a tad tighter which I put down to age, his ears are of good set and shape, his neck flows into well placed shoulders and a good return of upper arm and he has a fore chest developing nicely, his top line was good for one so young, he stands on well boned limbs and reasonable feet, he moved out well on side profile and was true coming and going, yes a tad loose at this age as expected but he had that bit more strength going away than 2 today.

2nd - Taneven Danjo (Mrs J & Mr T Bradley) – Litter brother to 1 with many of the same attributes, he also scores well in head which is balanced in muzzle to skull, his eyes are dark and set well, his rims are a tad tighter than 1, and again, ears are of good set and shape, well placed shoulders and a good return of upper arm, giving for a pleasing fore chest, his top line was good for one so young, and he stands on well boned limbs which are straight from all angles, he moved well for a baby and only lost out on a slightly stronger rear movement from his brother, two very nice pups indeed, well done to breeder and owners.

3rd - Hausmason Cosmic Voodoo (Miss G Raine)

Puppy Dog - Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st - Javladare Mr Boombastic (Mrs Kg Denver-Smith) – 9 month old puppy who is full of life, he scores well in head with a broad skull and the correct length of muzzle to compliment, his eyes are dark and of correct shape and set with close fitting rims, his ears sit well and extend the width of his skull, he has a strong neck which flows into clean withers, his back is strong and he has a well set on tail, he can be a tad proud of his tail but I put that down to his wonderful exuberance, he is well matched for angles front and rear and he was presented in a gleaming black jacket of correct texture, his clear rich markings complete the picture and he held everything together on the move once he settled, pleased to award him best puppy dog and then best puppy in breed.

Junior Dog - Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1st - Fantasa Lucky Luciano (Miss M & Mr J Dunhill-Hall & Clitheroe) – What an absolute delight it was to get my hands on this super young male who at almost 18 months of age is in absolutely stunning condition throughout, his muscle tone is almost popping and he moves around the ring like he could go all day, his conditioning shines through in his gleaming black jacket which is perfectly marked, his head is strong but in no way over done, he is balanced in skull and muzzle for both length and width, he has fill under his eyes, his cheeks are well boned and not surprisingly well muscled too, his ears are just the right size and balance to his head and they sit close to his cheeks and also extend the width of his skull, his head piece is just beautiful yet so masculine, the strength in this boy just keeps coming, his neck is broad and well arched with muscle, his wither is clean, his shoulders are well laid back and complimented with his return of upper arm, this front assembly gives him the desired fore chest which can be lacking in the breed but not in this boy, his back is strong and short, on the move he holds that solid top line, he has a strong short loin, his croup is broad and his tail set on so well, he holds this tail in a lovely sabre, never coming too far over his back, his underlines match his top line to perfection, his second thigh again is so well muscled, his well balance rear angles push him round the ring with an effortless gait and perfect foot fall and his talented handler gets the best of him and lets him take the stage, he is such a super dog and not yet 18 months old, I was delighted to award him the DCC today and he only lost out to his dam for BOB, but it honestly could have gone either way, I was delighted to find out he gained his crown today, well done.

2nd - Hausebecker Ghidora (Miss Cj Pollock) – A nicely put together young male, he was a little unsure of himself on how to perform which was understandable as I was advised it was his first show, he is certainly worth putting the effort in, he is slighter in build than 1, and also there is nothing that is over done on this boy, which is exactly how a Rottweiler should be, he has a pleasing head for balance, his eye maybe a tad rounder than ideal, he has well boned limbs which are straight, I would like a little more weight on him which I think will come as he matures, he moved out well once settled.

Post Graduate Dog - Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1st - Westfalen Olearia Team Spirit (Mrs M & Mrs V Monk & Jones) – At just 18 months of age this young male presents a super shape in profile, his body is well balanced to his head, his head ratio’s are balanced with a broad skull and muzzle to match, I would like a tad more fill under the eye and a tad more cheek, he has super dark eyes of correct shape, his neck is strong and flows into a well laid back shoulder, his withers are super clean and his back is strong and held well at all times, he is well angulated at the rear and has excellent muscle tone throughout, he stands on well boned strong straight limbs and strong hocks, he moved round the ring with a fluid gait and was true coming and going, he was presented in a gleaming black jacket and as always with this handler he was schooled and handled to perfection.

2nd - Marramead Prince of Morar (Miss L & Miss T Carmichael & Jarvie) - This young male scores well in head with a well-defined stop, dark eye and well-set ears sitting close to his cheeks, his neck is strong and his top line level, he could be a tad cleaner over the withers, he is well angulated fore and aft and stands on well boned limbs and reasonable feet, he presents a nice profile on the move on side gait but is not as clean as 1 on movement when coming towards you and his elbows could be a tad tighter.

Limit Dog – Entries: 7 Absentees: 1

1st - Nageem Cukier (Mrs J & Mr N Abell) – This young male caught my eye as he entered the ring, he is very well balanced and presents a lovely shape in profile which is enhanced by his alert and interested manner, his front assembly is nice and straight when viewed from the front as is the rear assembly from rear view, he has strong straight hocks which he uses on the move, he stands on good feet, he has a lovely head piece, well defined stop and a super dark eye, he also has super dark mouth pigmentation, his top line is strong and held well, he is well ribbed and has good depth of loin and well-muscled thighs, he could be a tad cleaner in markings, presented in lovely condition and handled well.

2nd - Rhodilea Celtic Warrior (Mr N & Mrs J Greener) – Another super male with plenty to like about him, he has a strong frame throughout covered with plenty of muscle tone, his head has many super qualities, width of skull and muzzle, a well-defined stop, good fill under the eye and only displays wrinkle when alert, his neat ears sit well and add to the picture, he has lots of substance and stands on well boned limbs, his angulation is pleasing front and rear and he moved with good reach and drive and was also true coming and going, he has clearer markings than 1, 2 super males which are hard to split.

3rd - Gilcoru Rhodri The Great (Mrs L & Mr E Parry)

Open Dog – Entries: 6 Absentees: 0

1st - Ch Dortmund Dizzy Rascal (Mr N & Miss L & Mrs C Bateson & Hoole & Clark) - I had the pleasure of judging this boy as a junior and thought then what an exciting young boy he was, I was not wrong, he is so well off for size and substance and stands on strong straight bone and good feet, , his head for me is copy book, he is all male with super width in both skull and muzzle yet clean and dry, his eyes are dark, almond in shape and set well, his ears sit high and wide and add to the width of his skull whilst sitting close to his cheeks, his neck is strong, well-muscled and flows into clean withers, his back is strong and broad and his loin is short with good depth, he has super angles fore and aft which shows in his movement on side gait, he reaches in front and drives from the rear whilst holding that firm top line, he was very unlucky to meet the junior dog today and had to settle for the Reserve CC.

2nd - Ch Jantavia Fleetwood Mac JW (Mr G & Mrs C Appleyard) - Another super male who I have had the pleasure of judging before, as I said then, he is very worthy of his title, and has matured on beautifully, he is so well balanced throughout, has a strong neck which flows into super shoulders and he delivers on the super clean withers and a clean head with the darkest of mouth pigment, he is well angulated front and rear and stands on strong straight bone and has strong hocks, he is well muscled and has a super tail and was presented in a gleaming black jacket with rich clean tan markings, another truly exceptional male.

3rd - Steigen Rupaul Charles (Mr L & Mr L L Cartwright)

Special Beginners Dog - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st - Javladare Mr Boombastic (Mrs Kg Denver-Smith) – My puppy dog winner with a different handler who also did a super job with him, although I think the first handler drew the short straw and got the job of wearing him out, he put in a lovely performance here to win the class and went on to best special beginner in breed, well done.

2nd - Jantavia Rebel Rebel (Miss G Bennett) 3 and a half year old male who scores well in head, he has a kind eye and a lovely expression, he was standing a tad ten to two on the front and I would like him a little shorter in loin, he moved nicely.

Minor Puppy Bitch - Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1st - Jantavia She Drives Me Crazy (Mr M Headspeath) – What a cracking puppy this young bitch is, I absolutely loved her, she has so many super qualities and is a very exciting prospect for the future, her head is at just the right stage for her age and is super pretty, she has a good width and depth to her chest already and is well ribbed back with a strong loin which is all put together holding a super top line for one so young, her underline compliments and gives her a super silhouette both static and moving, she pushed hard for best puppy in breed and only lost out to the more mature male today, she is one I will watch with interest.

2nd - Taneven Delta (Mr S & Miss T Jackson & Rogerson) – Litter sister to the 2 minor puppy dogs and another cracking puppy, for me today the underline on 1 was slightly better, this young lady also has a super head and again so pretty, her eye was a tad looser than 1 but this is just her age, she took a little longer than 1 to settle on the move but when she did she displayed a strong balanced gait, she stands on strong straight bone and is well balanced in angles fore and aft.

Puppy Bitch - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st - Taneven Dixie (Mr S & Miss T Jackson & Rogerson) – Another quality puppy from this litter and although the younger of the puppies in this class I just thought her to be more together, she presents a lovely shape in profile, her head is well balanced to her body and she scores well for head ratio’s and she has a super dark eye, her ears are of good size and shape and sit well, when her head finishes I feel she is going to have the most beautiful head piece, she also scores well in strong straight bone, super angles and a firm top line even at this age, moved out well.

2nd - Gouldthiassi Wise One (Miss J & Mr J Bragan & Stubley) – This young lady although the older of the 2 is at a much rawer stage, she is currently standing a tad ten to two which does not concern me in puppies as once the ribs develop that usually straightens out nicely, her top line is not yet as strong as 1 and her profile not yet as clean.

Post Graduate Bitch - Entries: 5 Absentees: 2

1st - Virlees Infatuation (Mrs M, Mrs A & Miss D Topham & Maltas) – My notes start with the words “Live wire” and yes this young lady is a total live wire but what I liked about her is when she bounced she dropped back into a four square perfect stance, she was one who covered the ground with ease on the move and she held her shape, her head is a little wet for me but she does have a decent balance of skull to muzzle ratio’s and her profile in body is super clean with no exaggeration what so ever, she has that clean wither that I look for, her top line is super level with just the right amount of slope in croup that its hardly noticeable and its matched by her strong underlines, she stands on well boned strong straight limbs and good feet, her balanced angles throughout are apparent when she is on the move, her reach in front and drive behind shine through, she is still a youngster and I feel she will mature into a very nice bitch indeed.

2nd - Vonkassel Mamba (Miss C Grozier) – Different in type to one and a super solid girl with so much to like, her head piece is well balanced and very clean, her eye is medium dark and a lovely almond shape with lovely close fitting rims, she has ample bone throughout and has a solid frame which is complimented by super angulation front and rear, another who has a lovely clean wither and her back is strong and broad, I really liked her super strong sound hocks, she is a super bitch who was also worthy of the top spot so a close decision between these two lovely girls.

3rd - Jianerot Penelope (Mrs E Martin)

Limit Bitch - Entries: 8 Absentees: 3

1st - Steigen Silky Nutmeg Ganash (Mr L & Mr L L Cartwright) – This young bitch has the most exquisite head piece, it has strength and balance yet is super feminine, her skull is broad and her ears sit just right to add to the width, she has fill under her super dark eyes, her mouth pigment is lovely and dark and next to her rich and clear tan markings complete the picture, her neck is strong and super clean and flows into a well laid shoulder and a short strong back, her loin is short and strong, I also loved her width in thigh which coupled with her balanced angulation fore and aft added to a well balanced silhouette both static and moving, on the move she is in perfect harmony with her handler and covers the ground with ease, she was presented in good muscle tone throughout and a gleaming black jacket, pleased to award her the reserve CC, very well deserved.

2nd - Gilcoru Catrin Ferch of Javladare (Mrs K, Misses A J & S R Brawn)- Such a strong well put together bitch with so much strength in her frame and substance to match yet not over done in any way, she has a front assembly from the top drawer with her lovely depth and width of chest, she is one that displays a lovely fore chest, she is a tad longer in loin than 1 and has a tad more slope in croup, her tail is set on and used well, her head is a classic head which is well balanced, she scores well in eye for shape, set and colour and has neat ears which sit well to frame her lovely head, she moved out well with an effortless ground covering gait and was presented in good hard condition throughout.

3rd - Olearia Queen of Clubs (Mr D & Mrs E Hislop)

Open Bitch - Entries: 5 Absentees: 1 – 1 Withdrew

1st - Ch Fantasa Lucky Seven (Miss M Dunhill-Hall) – The dam of my DCC winner and the apple did not fall far from the tree, he is the male version of her and its no surprise if judges end up with these two for the DCC and BCC, like him she is a strong powerful bitch but not over done in any way, she shows her strength and balance both static and moving, she covers the ground with effortless ease, perfect foot fall and is a absolute joy to watch, her talented handler gets the very best out of her whilst giving the impression she has to do nothing, she is so well constructed from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail, her head is copy book in all areas, skull to muzzle ratios, eye shape, colour and set, her expression, her ears, all just as they should be, she has a strong neck, her front assembly is strong and her lay of shoulder is spot on and matched perfectly with her return and length of upper arm, you can she how this bitch could not help but move well, all the time retaining her top and underlines and producing great drive from her strong and powerful rear assembly, her tail is carried beautifully, she has a gleaming black jacket which is perfectly marked and of the correct texture, I want to say a once in a lifetime Rott but then there is her son following on from her so I cant, there was no denying her the BCC today and she took the close call decision for BOB and finished with group 3 in a super working group. Well done.

2nd - Stairvale Gisele (Miss L & Miss T Carmichael & Jarvie) – Differing in type to 1 and a smaller bitch overall but also a well balanced bitch with nice proportions throughout, she has a lovely head piece which gives such a super picture from side profile where you can see her moderately arched forehead, her well defined stop and the depth and strength in both her skull and her muzzle, she also has a super dark eye and lovely expression, her neck is strong, she has a slight rise in withers which then flow into a well-placed shoulder, she holds a strong frame with a strong level top line, she is well off for angulation fore and aft, she has good bone and neat feet, she moves with a well balanced gait and it true coming and going, handled well.

3rd - Nyandor Never Say Never ShCEx (Miss Jh Broadbank)

Veteran Bitch - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st - Kayshillblue Ruby of Dyrockbrook (Miss B & Mrs E Welsh) – A strong bitch who is in super condition and not showing her age at all, she was presented in a gleaming black jacket with lovely clear tan markings, her head has strength but retains her feminine features with a pleasing eye and super set of her ears, she holds a strong top line and moved out well. Best Veteran in Breed.

2nd - Cotarinn Immortal Dawn at Lazeybears (Mr A & Mrs M A Hogg) – Similar in type and structure to one and also presented in excellent order, she has super balance in front angles, maybe a tad more angle than ideal at the rear but this can come from softening due to age, she holds a good top line, she has a tad more slope in croup than one, also moved out well.
