Judges Critique - Italian Spinone - Kim Parris

A privilege to judge one of my favourite breeds. Although I no longer own one they are still very close to my heart. My thanks to those who paid me the honour of entering under me and my excellent stewards. Overall quality was super and I was delighted with my final line ups. One point I noticed was some short necks. Although not a long necked breed, the standard states 2/3rds of the length of the head, more noticeable in the males, it gives a stuffy appearance.

Minor puppy dog 2

1 Diggmere Uno Georgio – Miss N Paige

At just 6 months a very raw pup but it’s all there. Super coat of good colour, thick skin. Plenty of bone with good big feet. Typey expressive head. Well made front and rear produced good if exuberant movement. I look forward to watching him mature into his early promise. 

2 Piacente Giovanotto – Mrs M Partridge

Nicely made shoulder with good width all through. Super underline. Good coat and skin. Good oval bone and big feet. Head showing correct planes and gentle expression. Hopefully he’ll drop into his rear as he matures to give a more balanced outline. Moved true.

1 Affilato Jump With Style - Miss D Beecham & Mr L Sharpe

Masculine with strong bone and good feet. Typical head showing correct planes and skull shape. Strong conical neck into good width of shoulder and typical topline. Moved soundly coming and going. A little out of coat today but worthy BPD.

2 Inostricani Time Will Tell – Mrs L Rossiter

Loved the head on this pup so typical, masculine but with softest expression. Good oval bone and big feet. Harsh coat and thick skin. Nicely made front with good width. Deep chest and minimal tuck up. Just lost out on his rear movement but he’s young yet.

1 Fiducia Cho Oyo At Miavita – Miss K Giles

Loved his type, solid and masculine. Well made front with good width, super underline showing minimal tuck-up. Strong well made rear producing drive to the sound movement. Well off for bone and good feet. Head showing correct divergent planes, loved his expression. Pushed hard for the RCC.

2 Talpalupo Lazzaro At Lajatico = Mr A K & Mrs J K Wain

Super front on this lad with prominent sternum. Slightly longer cast in frame but correct in underline and topline. He moved true coming and going, plenty of drive producing the pounding trot. Super coat and skin. Typey masculine head with lovely expression.

I’ve admired this boy when seeing him in working competitions so it was lovely to have the opportunity to go over him, he didn’t disappoint. All male he owned the ring when moving, super extension driving from the rear. Best of shoulders with good width of chest. Correct in underline and topline. Good strong oval bone, harsh coat. Typey head showing correct planes and big spongey nose. Lovely expression. BD DCC

Another quality male, so square with good angulation fore and aft. Typey head on strong conical neck. Best of coats and skin, well off for muscle. Masculine head of good proportions, human expression. My first place just pipped him on movement. RBD RCC

I’ve not judged this bitch since I gave her a first as a junior. Nothing flashy about her she just fits the standard. Her movement was effortless with a ground covering pounding trot, true coming and going. Typical feminine head showing divergent planes. Lovely big nose and sweetest expression. She has a good fore chest into well made shoulder. Correct underline and topline which was held on the move. Well off for bone, good coat and skin. Delighted to make her retirement special with BV BB BCC & BOB

Another lovely square bitch with plenty of substance. Best of fronts with prominent sternum. Good width and depth all through. Thick skin and harsh coat. Strong oval bone and good feet. Feminine head of good proportions. Moved sound and true. Just preferred the rear angulation on my first place.

Her looks and composure belied her 7 months. She moved out soundly, true coming and going. Lovely and square, a touch bum high but that’ll come good. Sweetest feminine head showing good planes and expression. Super coat and skin. Well angulated front with good width through the shoulder. Correct in topline and croup. BPB BP and pleased to see she was shortlisted in the group.

Another pup showing lots of promise. Going through a leggy stage at the moment so not quite so balanced as my first place. Feminine, typical head with correct planes, ear set and eye shape. Moved well, sound and true. Good bone and feet. Harsh coat and thick skin.

Nicely angulated fore and aft. Plenty of substance all through. Lean head showing correct ear set and a lovely big spongey nose. Feminine expression. Good width through the shoulder. Correct topline in to nice croup and tail set. Moved soundly.

Inostricani Orange Blossom – Mrs L Rossiter

Litter sisters in this class. Fits the square with plenty of depth and super underline. Typical head into strong conical neck and good width through the shoulder. Super coat and skin. I preferred the rear movement of my first place.

Powerfully made bitch, Nicely made rear with correct croup and tail set. Strong in loin. Good depth of chest. Good bone and skin. Head a little masculine for me and a longer muzzle would bring balance. Moved soundly.

Typical rustic square bitch. Lovely head showing correct planes, kindest human expression. Strong neck into well laid shoulder. Good topline into nicely sloping croup, correct tail set. Well off for bone and good feet. Coat of super texture and thick skin. Moved out sound and true.

Slightly longer cast bitch but loved her head. Feminine, human expression, scored in skull. Big nose and ears nicely set on. Arched conical neck into nicely made shoulder. Straight front with good width. Moved sound and true

Loved the front on this bitch, super shoulder angulation with plenty of width. Scored in underline and topline, good spring of rib. Harsh coat and thick skin. Typey femimine head, showing correct planes and muzzle to skull ratio. Moved soundly with drive.

2 Quebaikei Accossato For Oaklaw – Mrs E & Mr P Lawton

Good angulation fore and aft produced sound free movement, well muscled. Lovely coat of good texture and thick skin. Typical head with good eye and earset, balanced with sweet expression. Plenty of width all through with nice underline showing minimal tuck up.

Another quality bitch and on another day…   More compact but fits the standard and so feminine. Lovely lean head of good proportions. Good oval bone and feet, Harsh coat and thick skin. Good width all through and correct in underline. Today my first place just had the better movement.
